After arrival, you will transfer to your accommodation, which will serve as your base for exploring northwest Bosnia. You can make the journey more pleasant with a stop by the Una River and a visit to the town of Bihać. The first day is all about easing into the Balkan pace. Today's program depends on your arrival time.

You'll visit the picturesque Bosanska Krupa on the banks of the Una River, check out the Krušnica River spring, and experience some real urbex at the Ostrožac Castle ruins, which offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Get ready for the emerald Una River, the mighty Štrbački buk waterfall, and the magical Martin Brod with its historic washing mill – a unique natural washing machine powered by the force of water and traditional water mills. You'll end the day with views from the majestic Sokolac fortress, which has guarded the Una River valley for centuries.

You'll see the fairytale Plitvice Lakes with turquoise water and waterfalls that even appeared in the Winnetou films, and the legendary Željava airbase - one of the largest underground military complexes in Europe. The atmosphere of the former base is completed by a visit to an abandoned Douglas C-47B Dakota aircraft, which still serves as a reminder of a glorious era of aviation. 

Today a longer journey awaits you from Bihać to Jablanica, where you'll settle into new accommodation for a few days. The trip will be made more pleasant by a stop in historic Jajce with its waterfall, bridge of love, and watermills with a magical atmosphere, as well as some relaxation by the turquoise Ramsko Lake, where you can go for a swim.

The trip takes you to magical Mostar with its narrow streets and the chance for some more urbex at the Sniper Tower. Not far from the city, Bunski kanali await – a natural phenomenon where the Buna River meets the Neretva over travertine barriers. To end the day, you can stop by the collapsed bridge in Jablanica.

Combine the secrets of Tito's bunker with the beauty of Blidinje Nature Park. The journey leads to a fascinating underground complex from the former Yugoslavia and then continues into the mountains to Blidinje Nature Park – a land of mountain views, tranquility, and a changing lake.

You'll explore the mountains around Igman and Bjelašnica, where nature meets the remains of Olympic history. The itinerary kicks off at the ski jumps with the Olympic winner's podium and the abandoned Igman Hotel, both reminders of the famous Sarajevo Winter Olympics era. After that, the journey continues through the picturesque landscape around Umoljani village, the Gradina settlement, and the meanders of Studeni Potok. Depending on your energy and preferences, you can extend the hike all the way to Lukomir, the highest village in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is also said to be the most remote. 

After packing your bags and checking out, you can head straight to the airport, or if you have a late flight, squeeze in one final mini-adventure. Depending on your mood and how much time you have, you could take a trip to Visoko to see the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun or the Ravne tunnels. Alternatively, keep it low-key with a leisurely day in Sarajevo—wander around the city, grab a coffee in Baščaršija (the Ottoman-era bazaar), pick up some souvenirs, or check out the abandoned Olympic bobsleigh track. The day remains flexible, letting you wrap up your trip based on your energy, the weather, and your flight time. Just adjust your schedule to fit your departure.
