Calgary is the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta. The first day is spent on a long flight to Canada. There are no direct connections between Prague and Calgary and the journey will be split into several flights.

On the second day, we'll be battling jet lag caused by the eight-hour time difference. We'll explore the city center and soak up the initial Canadian atmosphere. In the afternoon, we'll move to the edge of the Rocky Mountains, where we'll explore the area around Canmore. 

Today we'll go for a leisurely hike to Grassi Lakes. The entire loop takes about 2 hours. Afterwards, we'll return to the accommodation, prepare a meal, and optionally take an afternoon siesta. In the evening, we'll head to the Kananaskis area and, with a bit of luck, we'll see some wildlife such as bears, deer, and the like. We'll just be driving through and stopping at beautiful spots along the way. 

We have a long plane ride behind us and a long car ride ahead, so let's make today a little more sporty. 🚗🏔️ We'll climb to the 2474 m high Ha Ling Peak, but don't worry about extremely demanding hiking, we'll drive to the parking lot up to almost 1700 m, from where it will be less than 5 km walk to the top. 🚶‍♂️🌄 At the top, we have a guaranteed breathtaking view of the Bow Valley. 📸👀

This day will be spent in and around Banff. 🏞️ Banff is for many people the most beautiful town in the Rocky Mountains and I am definitely one of them. 🏔️ We'll visit the town itself in the morning and head to Lake Minnewanka in the afternoon. 🌲🚶‍♂️

We'll take this day in the spirit of well-being. 😌 In the morning we will go to Johnston Canyon. We'll walk to Vermilion Lakes and finish the day with an easy hike up Tunnel Mountain. 🏞️🚶‍♂️

On this day we will visit the most iconic lakes of the Canadian Rockies, namely Moraine Lake together with Lake Louise. After that, we'll make a quick hop over to British Columbia to Emerald Lake 🏞️ If you've ever seen beautiful photos from Canada where the clear lakes stood out along with the mountain peaks, it was probably from here. 📸🌄

We have a long crossing this day, but it will definitely not be a boring ride. 🚗🌲 We'll drive through the stunning Icefields Parkway, which offers many beautiful sites and the chance to spot wildlife. 🏞️🐾

We have two whole amazing days ahead of us in the Canadian town of Jasper and the surrounding national park. 🌲🏔️ We'll enjoy a slow morning and an afternoon walk through the town. In the afternoon, we'll set out to explore the beauties of Maligne Canyon & Lake 🏞️ 

We'll start the day with a visit to Mount Robson Provincial Park in the neighboring province of British Columbia. There's a time difference - one hour back. In the afternoon, we'll stop by lakes with beautiful views of Pyramid Mountain. 🏞️ Patricia Lake 🌅 is also located nearby. This peaceful place is ideal for relaxing and having a picnic by the water.

We'll keep this day completely free. You can relax in the cafes, take the Jasper SkyTram to the top of Whistlers Mountain, join me on a hike (something more challenging), rent a bike and go for a ride around the area, go wildlife watching or visit Miette Hot Springs - the hottest mineral pools in the Canadian Rockies 💦 The next day we just have a long drive back to Calgary.

If the weather doesn't work out for some of the previous days' locations, this is our last chance to try again. 🌧️🌤️ We have a long drive back to Calgary, where we'll be busy with souvenirs and preparing for our flight back home the next day. 🚗🛍️✈️

Our journey is over, we have a flight back to Europe.
