The group will meet at the airport at 20:00. After check-in, there will be time to get acquainted with fellow travellers. Then we will board the plane and fly to Iceland. 

In the morning we sleep after the overnight flight and set off at 9:30 to the north of the island. To make the journey less boring, we stop at a beautiful waterfall in a small canyon and an old Icelandic church.

On arrival in the north, we will shop for groceries and check in. I expect to arrive around 6pm. 

We will leave at 8:00 am. First we'll go to a kind of Icelandic stonehenge.... It's actually a monument to the sun, which I understand in Iceland, the sun doesn't shine much, although the north, paradoxically, is the best in terms of sunny days. We then move on to the beautiful cliffs where we will trek, we will see a bunch of cool rock formations and lots of birds, definitely a nice walk to start with. Finally, we'll stop at the most massive waterfall in Europe. We will arrive at our accommodation between 8-9pm. 

Today we will start at 6 am, because we have two longer treks ahead of us. First, we're going to explore a place called echo rocks. Then we will go to see a geothermal water cave. You can't swim in the cave because of the unstable temperature of the water, but it's still a beautiful sight. We end the day in an area with a system of rocks and caves, where we trek to one of the most iconic volcanoes in the north of the island. We will arrive at our accommodation around 8pm. 

We'll leave at 7 o'clock in the morning. We have a stop at two beautiful waterfalls in the north. At one of them we will buy souvenirs. And then we'll be on our way to the peninsula. We'll stop at a beautiful volcano on the way. Finally, we'll stock up on groceries and move on to our next accommodation. I expect to arrive around 7pm.

Today we visit a couple of familiar places and one we don't know at all. We've been up early the last two mornings, so today we'll leave at 9:00. First, we'll stop at an iconic mountain, famous from a TV show. Then we visit a black Icelandic church and seemingly end the day at a place where we can observe marine mammals. But that's not the end of the day, so read on...... 

In fact, there is a hidden gem on this peninsula, namely a natural geothermal hotspot, it's not even on the maps, which is a huge advantage because only a minimal number of people know about it, and we're going to go there for a swim. Cool :) I don't list the place and I don't add photos.

What is it about the south of Iceland that makes it so popular? Waterfalls, volcanoes, geysir and glacier.... Well, we have seen a few waterfalls, we have visited some volcanoes too, we won't see the geysir, on the other hand, the ones in America are bigger and better... That leaves us with the great Icelandic necessity, the glacier... But how to do it? Well, simply, there is a glacier on this peninsula too, and right on the volcano, ha, two in one. 😁 It's also the only glacier where there is a hiking trail and can be visited without a glacier guide, hopefully in cooler weather, when it's very hot the glacier is unstable, dangerous and therefore unfriendly. It's definitely not going to be an easy hike, we'll try to shorten it by car, but it still won't be easy and you'll definitely need those bearskins. Let's hope for good weather so we can have a great view besides the glacier. We will leave at 8am in the morning and return to our accommodation between 6-7pm. 

If things don't work out for any reason, we will work out an alternative programme there is always something new to discover in Iceland. 

Today we just have one last stop to see one of the waterfalls and then hurrah back to the airport, well, probably not hurrah, but it's time to go home. We'll leave at 8:30 in the morning.
