Check the dimensions of your luggage carefully before departure. Remember that you must not take any liquid on board the plane (hint: if you bend it and it leaks, it will seize). Dedicate the first day to arrival, acclimatisation and accommodation. If you have some extra time and energy, be sure to take advantage of it and hit the town. :)

On the first day after arrival, you will head to Gibraltar. Walk along the main street and take the cable car to the top. It costs £12 and runs every 10 minutes. Beware, the cable car ticket is not a ticket to the national park (£5). The weather can be a problem, if it's too windy the cable car doesn't run.
There are always monkeys and wonderful panoramas. You can see Spain, Gibraltar (ie the English colony and Africa from one place). Then go to the lighthouse which is very photogenic and Africa will be at your fingertips.

You're going to Tarifa! It's about 40 minutes by car and it's beautiful. You walk around the ancient town, which is full of narrow streets, you can have a typical Spanish breakfast, toasted baguette with oil and tomatoes, washed down with fresh orange juice. See the place where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea and see the southernmost point in Europe. 

Go surfing in El Palmar. This is where surfers from all over the world meet. Don't you know how to surf? It doesn't matter, you can pay for an instructor, wetsuit and surfboard rental, and if you speak English or Spanish you can understand him too! Don't worry, the water is shallow and it's fun! Like my dad (pictured) really enjoyed it.

A sporting performance awaits you. Try paddle tennis - it's the second most popular sport in Spain after football, and I totally fell for it! Or how about golf? It's a short drive away, just 5 minutes away, and you can try your swing on a beautiful course. And if you like the sea, you can go paddleboarding when the sea is calm and enjoy the view of the underwater world - you can get swimming goggles for a few crowns! So what? Take your pick - I'd happily try anything!

On the way to the airport, you can still stop at the Supermarket for any small items you may want to bring home. If there is still time you can stop at the beach or anywhere along the way you like. And then the flight home.
