In the morning, you'll climb to the top of Diamond Head, a majestic volcanic formation with panoramic views of the city and the sea. It's a place where the body and soul awaken, and where the first glimpse of Hawaii from above shows just how special this island is. Afterwards, indulge in refreshment and relaxation at the iconic Waikiki Beach, where turquoise waves kiss the shores, and with any luck, spot sea turtles gracefully navigating the coral formations in Turtle Canyon. End the day in silence and reverence with a visit to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor - a place that bears deep marks of history, heroism and loss, written in the ocean and in the nation's memory.

After descending from the crater, it's time for a contrast - sink your feet into the warm sand of legendary Waikiki Beach. As well as sunbathing and swimming, this beach offers the chance to take part in a cruise or snorkel in an area called Turtle Canyon, where, with a bit of luck, you'll spot sea turtles in their natural habitat. There are a number of public parking lots around the beach, some for a fee, some with time limits - it is recommended to park in the Kalākaua Avenue garage, which is just a short walk to the beach.

In the afternoon, dedicate your time to visiting one of the most important and revered places in Hawaii – Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. This site, where history rests beneath the waves, is a powerful reminder of courage, loss, and unity. Entry is free, but boat transportation to the memorial itself requires a reservation, which can be made online for a nominal fee of $1. Parking is available right by the visitor center for $7 – and there’s no need to rush, as the site offers, in addition to the memorial itself, exhibitions and peaceful strolls under the shade of palm trees.
As the day draws to a close, I recommend enjoying dinner at Duke's Waikiki, one of the most famous restaurants right on the beach - the sunset views and live Hawaiian music only add to the experience.

And because after two climbs it will be time for a reward, you'll move on to the tranquil and fabulous Lanikai Beach - one of the most photogenic beaches in Hawaii. White sand, crystal clear water and minimal tourists make it the perfect place to relax, swim or picnic. The beach does not have official parking, but again, it can be conveniently walked from Kailua Beach, where there are public parking and restrooms.

Day four of your Hawaiian journey brings a change of scenery and new adventures. Today you will experience an inter-island flight. You will return your rental car at the airport and head off for your next adventure. Make sure you have your valid driver's license and the credit card you used when renting.
The flight takes approximately 50 minutes and offers a convenient and quick transfer between the islands.

Ideally, always keep it at least half full. You're not on the highway here – you're in paradise. And it deserves you to drive through it slowly, attentively, and with a smile.

One of the most iconic places in all of Maui. To ensure that entry is as environmentally friendly as possible, there is a mandatory advance reservation, which you can easily arrange online through the official system of Hawaiian state parks. This ensures that you will have your place for both parking and entry itself. The price is symbolic – about ten dollars per car and five per person – but the experience that awaits you is priceless. Volcanic caves, dramatic cliffs, and black sand contrasting with the azure ocean create a backdrop that you will not only want to photograph, but mainly enjoy in peace.
Start with an early wake-up to catch the sunrise at the summit of the Haleakalā volcano. On the way to the summit, which rises to over 3,000 meters, you will witness a unique natural spectacle as the first rays of the sun flood the crater with golden light. This experience is so popular that it is necessary to book your entry in advance. After descending from the summit, you can stop in Upcountry Maui, an area known for its farms, vineyards, and lavender fields. Visit Aliʻi Kula Lavender Farm, where you can enjoy tea and tour the blooming gardens overlooking the island.
Reservations are required for all vehicles entering the park between 3:00 AM and 7:00 AM. Each reservation is valid for one vehicle and costs $1.00. Reservations can be made online up to 60 days in advance through the official reservation system. Upon arrival at the park, you must present confirmation of your reservation and a valid ID matching the name on the reservation. In addition to the reservation, you must also pay the park entrance fee, which is $30 per vehicle and is valid for three days. Drive to the parking lot they send you to after making a reservation.
It is recommended to arrive at the summit well in advance to find a suitable viewing spot. Remember to dress warmly, as temperatures at the summit can be significantly lower than at sea level.
After descending from the majestic peak of Haleakalā, where you witnessed a breathtaking sunrise, your journey takes you to the tranquil Upcountry Maui.
Established by Aliʻi Chang, this 13.5-acre farm is home to over 55,000 lavender plants, offering visitors the chance to stroll through blooming gardens with island views. The farm is open from Friday to Monday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and admission is $3 per person. During your visit, don't miss a cup of their Kula Calm Tea – an herbal tea combining lavender, chamomile, lemon balm, and mint to soothe your mind and refresh your body. I recommend ordering lavender cookies or a lavender scone with your tea, which are popular visitor favorites.
On the seventh day, you'll leave the diverse island of Maui – an island of waterfalls, valleys, and golden beaches – and head to the green emerald of the Hawaiian Islands: Kauaʻi. The transition between these two islands is like moving between two worlds. The flight is short but with great effect – even as you approach the island, you'll be greeted by dramatic cliffs, vibrant green jungle, and an indescribable tranquility that seems to slow down time.
You return the car you rented in Maui at the Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility, or another rental agency, directly opposite the Kahului Airport terminal. Upon arrival, follow the "Rental Car Return" signs – most rental car companies, such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Enterprise, have a clear and quick return system. Remember to refuel the car to a full tank (unless otherwise agreed in advance) and have your booking confirmation and the credit card you used ready. After checking the car, a free shuttle will take you to the departure terminal entrance.
Upon arrival in Līhuʻe, everything is ready for the next chapter of your journey. Pick up your car according to the instructions directly at the airport. The system is very simple here as well: you present your driver's license, passport, and credit card, check the condition of the vehicle, and within a few minutes, you're on your way.
Day eight takes you to the island of Kauaʻi, nicknamed the "Garden Isle" for its lush vegetation and natural beauty. Your first stop will be Waimea Canyon, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." This colorful canyon offers breathtaking views and numerous hiking trails, such as the Waipoʻo Falls Trail, which leads you to a picturesque waterfall.
After exploring the canyon, you'll move to Kōkeʻe State Park, where you can visit the Kalalau Lookout and admire the dramatic cliffs of the Nā Pali Coast. This area is ideal for hiking and bird watching.

This trail has only a slight elevation gain and is great for a relaxing afternoon.
At the end of the road, at mile eighteen, you are treated to a literally epic finale: a bird's eye view of the legendary Kalalau Valley and the dramatic cliffs of the Nā Pali Coast, which drop perpendicularly into the ocean in a sight that is hard to put into words.
Parking is hassle-free in this area, with plenty of spots at individual trailheads and major viewpoints. However, it is advisable to arrive early in the day - not just for parking, but mainly for the light, which disappears into the mist and shadows in the afternoon. And it's that morning or mid-morning hour, when the sun hits the ridges and brightens the depths of the valley, that you realize why Kauai is so magical.
Day nine is dedicated to relaxing and exploring the coast of Kauai. Start the day at Hanalei Bay, a crescent-shaped beach surrounded by mountains, ideal for swimming and relaxing. Then visit Tunnels Beach, a popular snorkeling spot thanks to its rich marine life and coral reefs.
Hanalei Bay isn't just a beach - it's a dreamscape. It spreads out like a soft crescent beneath dramatic, mist-shrouded mountains that, in the morning light, resemble film stills from paradise. The water is calm, perfect for swimming or paddleboarding, and the long stretch of beach invites barefoot strolls.

A trail that takes you right through a solidified lava crater where hot magma was still gushing in 1959. Today, you walk across a solid lava lake, surrounded by lush rainforest and mist rising from cracks in the ground. The trail is approximately 6.4 kilometres (circular) and the difficulty level is medium - ideal for active travellers who want to stretch their legs but experience something unique at the same time. We recommend starting from the parking lot at Kīlauea Iki Overlook, where you can conveniently park your rental car and also get a great view of the entire crater before you descend into it.
Lava tunnel, which was created more than 500 years ago. Walking through this natural tunnel, surrounded by tropical vegetation, is like entering another world. The tunnel is illuminated and easily accessible.

You will climb the sacred Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in Hawaii and also the highest mountain in the world when measured from the ocean floor. Your journey begins at the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station (VIS), located at an altitude of 2,804 meters above sea level. It is important to acclimatize here for at least 30 minutes, as the summit is at an altitude of 4,207 meters, where there is 40% less oxygen than at sea level. The VIS offers parking, toilets and information materials.
If you plan to climb to the summit, you have two options:
- Hiking the Humuʻula Trail: This route is approximately 10 kilometers one way and is intended for experienced hikers. The ascent takes about 5 hours, the descent about 3 hours. The route leads through varied terrain, including volcanic fields and gravel paths. It is recommended to start very early in the morning, ideally around 3:00 AM, to catch the sunrise.
- Driving to the summit in a 4x4 vehicle: The road from VIS to the summit is approximately 8 kilometers long and is steep with unpaved sections. A 4x4 vehicle with a low gear ratio is required for this section. Before traveling, make sure your rental car company allows driving on this road.
At the summit of Mauna Kea, a panoramic view above the clouds and a unique sunrise awaits you, illuminating the surrounding landscape and observatories. After sunrise, it is recommended to descend back to the VIS, as staying at the summit is only allowed for 30 minutes after sunrise.
Remember to equip yourself appropriately: warm clothing, sturdy hiking boots, plenty of water and food, sunglasses and sunscreen are essential. Mauna Kea is a sacred place for the native Hawaiians, so it is important to treat the local culture and nature with respect.

You return the car you rented in Maui at the Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility, or another rental agency, directly opposite the Kahului Airport terminal. Upon arrival, follow the "Rental Car Return" signs – most rental car companies, such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Enterprise, have a clear and quick return system. Remember to refuel the car to a full tank (unless otherwise agreed in advance) and have your booking confirmation and the credit card you used ready. After checking the car, a free shuttle will take you to the departure terminal entrance.
Upon arrival in Līhuʻe, everything is ready for the next chapter of your journey. Pick up your car according to the instructions directly at the airport. The system is very simple here as well: you present your driver's license, passport, and credit card, check the condition of the vehicle, and within a few minutes, you're on your way.
Day eight takes you to the island of Kauaʻi, nicknamed the "Garden Isle" for its lush vegetation and natural beauty. Your first stop will be Waimea Canyon, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." This colorful canyon offers breathtaking views and numerous hiking trails, such as the Waipoʻo Falls Trail, which leads you to a picturesque waterfall.
After exploring the canyon, you'll move to Kōkeʻe State Park, where you can visit the Kalalau Lookout and admire the dramatic cliffs of the Nā Pali Coast. This area is ideal for hiking and bird watching.
This 14-mile-long, 3,600-foot-deep canyon offers breathtaking views of colorful rock formations and verdant valleys. Admission for visitors is $5 per person and parking is $10 per vehicle, with payment by credit card only at self-service kiosks. Parking is available from sunrise to sunset.

This trail has only a slight elevation gain and is great for a relaxing afternoon.
At the end of the road, at mile eighteen, you are treated to a literally epic finale: a bird's eye view of the legendary Kalalau Valley and the dramatic cliffs of the Nā Pali Coast, which drop perpendicularly into the ocean in a sight that is hard to put into words.
Parking is hassle-free in this area, with plenty of spots at individual trailheads and major viewpoints. However, it is advisable to arrive early in the day - not just for parking, but mainly for the light, which disappears into the mist and shadows in the afternoon. And it's that morning or mid-morning hour, when the sun hits the ridges and brightens the depths of the valley, that you realize why Kauai is so magical.
Day nine is dedicated to relaxing and exploring the coast of Kauai. Start the day at Hanalei Bay, a crescent-shaped beach surrounded by mountains, ideal for swimming and relaxing. Then visit Tunnels Beach, a popular snorkeling spot thanks to its rich marine life and coral reefs.
Hanalei Bay isn't just a beach - it's a dreamscape. It spreads out like a soft crescent beneath dramatic, mist-shrouded mountains that, in the morning light, resemble film stills from paradise. The water is calm, perfect for swimming or paddleboarding, and the long stretch of beach invites barefoot strolls.
On the shores of Hanalei Bay, you can enjoy avocado toast with homemade bread and a selection of coffee.
Silent, magical, and for many one of the best snorkeling spots in all of Hawaii. We recommend starting from the parking lot at Kīlauea Iki Overlook, where you can conveniently park your rental car and also get a great view of the entire crater before you descend into it.
Lava tunnel, which was created more than 500 years ago. Walking through this natural tunnel, surrounded by tropical vegetation, is like entering another world. The tunnel is illuminated and easily accessible.

The route leads through varied terrain, including volcanic fields and gravel paths. It is recommended to start very early in the morning, ideally around 3:00 AM, to catch the sunrise.
- Driving to the summit in a 4x4 vehicle: The road from VIS to the summit is approximately 8 kilometers long and is steep with unpaved sections. A 4x4 vehicle with a low gear ratio is required for this section. Before traveling, make sure your rental car company allows driving on this road.
At the summit of Mauna Kea, a panoramic view above the clouds and a unique sunrise awaits you, illuminating the surrounding landscape and observatories. After sunrise, it is recommended to descend back to the VIS, as staying at the summit is only allowed for 30 minutes after sunrise.
Remember to equip yourself appropriately: warm clothing, sturdy hiking boots, plenty of water and food, sunglasses and sunscreen are essential. Mauna Kea is a sacred place for the native Hawaiians, so it is important to treat the local culture and nature with respect.

On the seventh day, you'll leave the diverse island of Maui – an island of waterfalls, valleys, and golden beaches – and head to the green emerald of the Hawaiian Islands: Kauaʻi. From the elegant energy of Maui, you'll move to the wild, untamed beauty of the island, which is rightly nicknamed the Garden Isle.
The flight is short but with great effect – even as you approach the island, you'll be greeted by dramatic cliffs, vibrant green jungle, and an indescribable tranquility that seems to slow down time.
You return the car you rented in Maui at the Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility, or another rental agency, directly opposite the Kahului Airport terminal. Upon arrival, follow the "Rental Car Return" signs – most rental car companies, such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Enterprise, have a clear and quick return system. Remember to refuel the car to a full tank (unless otherwise agreed in advance) and have your booking confirmation and the credit card you used ready. After checking the car, a free shuttle will take you to the departure terminal entrance.
Upon arrival in Līhuʻe, everything is ready for the next chapter of your journey. Pick up your car according to the instructions directly at the airport. The system is very simple here as well: you present your driver's license, passport, and credit card, check the condition of the vehicle, and within a few minutes, you're on your way.
Day eight takes you to the island of Kauaʻi, nicknamed the "Garden Isle" for its lush vegetation and natural beauty. Your first stop will be Waimea Canyon, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." This colorful canyon offers breathtaking views and numerous hiking trails, such as the Waipoʻo Falls Trail, which leads you to a picturesque waterfall.
After exploring the canyon, you'll move to Kōkeʻe State Park, where you can visit the Kalalau Lookout and admire the dramatic cliffs of the Nā Pali Coast. This area is ideal for hiking and bird watching.
This 14-mile-long, 3,600-foot-deep canyon offers breathtaking views of colorful rock formations and verdant valleys. Admission for visitors is $5 per person and parking is $10 per vehicle, with payment by credit card only at self-service kiosks. Parking is available from sunrise to sunset.
A moderately challenging route of approximately 3.6 miles (5.8 km) with an elevation gain of about 1,000 feet (300 m). This trail takes you to the top of the 800-foot Waipo'o Falls and offers breathtaking views of the canyon. The trail is well marked and suitable for families with children, with an average walking time of 2 to 3 hours.
Just a few minutes' walk from the road and you're standing at the very edge of a breathtaking cliff overlooking the layered scenery of Waimea Canyon. It's the perfect place to take a short break, snap a photo, or just stare silently into the colorful abyss that nature has shaped like a masterpiece over millions of years.
If you're looking for something a little longer, but still easily manageable, choose the Kaluapuhi Trail - a relaxing walk through fragrant forest that immerses you in the world of island flora. The path is soft, lined with ferns and liana trees, and as you step quietly you can feel how alive and deeply connected everything is here. This trail has only a slight elevation gain and is great for a relaxing afternoon.
At the end of the road, at mile eighteen, you are treated to a literally epic finale: a bird's eye view of the legendary Kalalau Valley and the dramatic cliffs of the Nā Pali Coast, which drop perpendicularly into the ocean in a sight that is hard to put into words.
Parking is hassle-free in this area, with plenty of spots at individual trailheads and major viewpoints. However, it is advisable to arrive early in the day - not just for parking, but mainly for the light, which disappears into the mist and shadows in the afternoon. And it's that morning or mid-morning hour, when the sun hits the ridges and brightens the depths of the valley, that you realize why Kauai is so magical.
Day nine is dedicated to relaxing and exploring the coast of Kauai. Start the day at Hanalei Bay, a crescent-shaped beach surrounded by mountains, ideal for swimming and relaxing. Then visit Tunnels Beach, a popular snorkeling spot thanks to its rich marine life and coral reefs.
Hanalei Bay isn't just a beach - it's a dreamscape. It spreads out like a soft crescent beneath dramatic, mist-shrouded mountains that, in the morning light, resemble film stills from paradise. The water is calm, perfect for swimming or paddleboarding, and the long stretch of beach invites barefoot strolls.
On the shores of Hanalei Bay, you can enjoy avocado toast with homemade bread and a selection of coffee.
Silent, magical, and for many one of the best snorkeling spots in all of Hawaii. Beneath the surface lies a vibrant underwater world: coral reefs, schools of colourful fish and, with luck, sea turtles that will quietly accompany you in their own rhythm. Don't forget to bring your own snorkel and fins, as there are no rentals in the area and facilities are limited. Parking at Tunnels Beach is very limited - it is recommended to arrive early in the morning or park further away at Haʻena Beach and walk.
Ideal if you fancy grilled fish or a cocktail overlooking the bay.
Day ten takes you to the final chapter of your Hawaiian journey – but definitely not the end. You're moving to the last of the islands, and with it comes a new rhythm, new colors, new energy. Each Hawaiian island has its own personality – and the one that awaits you now will offer the conclusion to your odyssey in the best style.
A quick and hassle-free process that won't take you more than a few minutes – you just need to know what to do. Upon arriving at the airport, simply follow the clearly marked signs for rental car returns, which will guide you directly to the individual car rental locations. Once you arrive, park the car in the designated spot for the respective company. The staff will quickly inspect the car, confirm its return, and you'll be done in no time.
It is recommended to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your departure to allow enough time not only for the car return itself, but also for check-in and to calmly enjoy your last moments on this beautiful island.
Direct flights from Lihue (LIH) to Kailua-Kona (KOA) are offered by Hawaiian Airlines, with an average flight time of around 55 minutes.
Upon arrival on the Big Island, a rental car is key to exploring the island. Pick up your car at the airport and hit the road.
Day eleven takes you to the largest Hawaiian island, known as the Big Island. Your main destination will be Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, home to the active volcanoes Kīlauea and Mauna Loa. You will walk the Kīlauea Iki Trail, which takes you across solidified lava and rainforest, and visit Thurston Lava Tube, a lava tunnel formed thousands of years ago.
In the evening, you can head to Halemaʻumaʻu Crater, where, under the right conditions, you can see glowing lava. This experience is unforgettable and shows the power of nature at its most impressive.
A trail that takes you right through a solidified lava crater where hot magma was still gushing in 1959. Today, you walk across a solid lava lake, surrounded by lush rainforest and mist rising from cracks in the ground. The trail is approximately 6.4 kilometres (circular) and the difficulty level is medium - ideal for active travellers who want to stretch their legs but experience something unique at the same time. We recommend starting from the parking lot at Kīlauea Iki Overlook, where you can conveniently park your rental car and also get a great view of the entire crater before you descend into it.
Lava tunnel, which was created more than 500 years ago. Walking through this natural tunnel, surrounded by tropical vegetation, is like entering another world. The tunnel is illuminated and easily accessible.

You will end the twelfth day of your Hawaiian odyssey with a real highlight - both literally and figuratively. You will climb the sacred Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in Hawaii and also the highest mountain in the world when measured from the ocean floor. And here you will experience something that will be deeply etched in your memory: the sunrise from the place where the heavens touch the earth.
Your journey begins at the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station (VIS), located at an altitude of 2,804 meters above sea level. It is important to acclimatize here for at least 30 minutes, as the summit is at an altitude of 4,207 meters, where there is 40% less oxygen than at sea level. The VIS offers parking, toilets and information materials.
If you plan to climb to the summit, you have two options:
- Hiking the Humuʻula Trail: This route is approximately 10 kilometers one way and is intended for experienced hikers. The ascent takes about 5 hours, the descent about 3 hours. The route leads through varied terrain, including volcanic fields and gravel paths. It is recommended to start very early in the morning, ideally around 3:00 AM, to catch the sunrise.
- Driving to the summit in a 4x4 vehicle: The road from VIS to the summit is approximately 8 kilometers long and is steep with unpaved sections. A 4x4 vehicle with a low gear ratio is required for this section. Before traveling, make sure your rental car company allows driving on this road.
At the summit of Mauna Kea, a panoramic view above the clouds and a unique sunrise awaits you, illuminating the surrounding landscape and observatories. After sunrise, it is recommended to descend back to the VIS, as staying at the summit is only allowed for 30 minutes after sunrise.
Remember to equip yourself appropriately: warm clothing, sturdy hiking boots, plenty of water and food, sunglasses and sunscreen are essential. Mauna Kea is a sacred place for the native Hawaiians, so it is important to treat the local culture and nature with respect.
