Your arrival day will serve as a first taste of the country (figuratively and literally). Immediately upon arrival, you'll be struck by the local atmosphere of the post-Soviet country - from inscriptions written in Cyrillic to Russian-shouting taxi drivers looking for clients. Avoid this chaos to start with and choose a comfortable and direct route to your accommodation by taxi - at the very least, you'll test the functionality of the Yandex app :)

Depending on your arrival time and your taste, you can soak up the atmosphere of the lively Central Asian markets at the local Chorsu Bazaar (open daily until about 9:00 PM), which is located in the immediate vicinity of your accommodation.

You can also enjoy your first serving of the ubiquitous local specialty called plov, which can be found at the renowned Central Asian Plov Center, known locally as Besh qozon (open daily until about 11:00 PM). This itinerary includes both places in the coming days. The hotel's location near the city center then encourages a walk around the city. So it depends on what you feel like doing after a long (perhaps even overnight) flight :)

Tashkent is known for its contrasts - on the one hand, you will find lively bazaars with the atmosphere of Arabia and architectural gems of local mosques and palaces, while nearby stands a modern metropolis with monumental buildings, green parks and entertainment centers. Today you will spend most of the day in the historical part admiring the incredible architecture of the local Islamic culture and soak up the true atmosphere of the Orient at the local giant bazaar, so that at the end of the day you will marvel at the shining, gleaming entertainment center built in a park with ponds, all in the middle of the inhospitable Uzbek desert. 

While yesterday was mainly about history and culture, today you will explore the modern face of this metropolis. Climb the tallest building in Central Asia, from where you will have the city at your fingertips. Taste the local delicacy and literally peek under the hood of local chefs preparing it right in front of you. Stroll along the magnificent boulevards with street artists and pay homage to local political heroes embodied by monumental statues and monuments. And since you will be using the famous local metro many times today, don't forget to look around at the stations - some stations look like a gallery.

Today will be mainly about transport - we need to cover a long distance across the desert, for which a plane is best suited. So, after a few days, your journey heads back to Tashkent airport, to find yourself in a slightly different world in less than 2 hours - modern Tashkent will be replaced by a remote oasis in the desert near the border with Turkmenistan, where history was written. Take a ride on a desert trolleybus with a Czech touch :)

Experience a beautiful morning in the desert from the comfort of your hotel terrace! Enjoy a rich breakfast included in the price and the famous Uzbek hospitality. Early birds can also catch the sunrise after yesterday's sunset - your hotel is near the Eastern Gate. Stroll through the historic Silk Road center and imagine yourself as ancient merchants traveling across the desert with their caravans. Climb the city walls and enjoy the view of the magnificent architecture below. Take advantage of some of the many local museums in the interiors of madrassahs and broaden your horizons about the rich Uzbek history.

Start today with a final walk through the historic streets of Khiva, treat yourself to relaxation and something tasty from the local cuisine, and stock up for the long journey ahead. You'll spend most of the day with an unusual experience on a sleeper train traveling across the arid desert. Shorten the long journey by interacting with curious and friendly locals who will surely approach you and happily sit with you. You might even get invited for a cup of tea, a snack, or a few glasses of the local favorite vodka. Maybe you'll even make new friends along the way, just like me - the author of the itinerary :)

After a challenging day on the train yesterday, treat yourself to a hearty breakfast. Then set off for another adventure on the Silk Road - the magnificent center of historic Bukhara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through the historic streets of this ancient oasis and admire the arched gates with blue tiles of the local mosques and madrasahs. Take a peek inside these architectural gems and discover the history of the Silk Road. Explore the traditional handicrafts of local artisans and watch performances by local artists. Enjoy an evening beer in the garden bar overlooking the illuminated monuments.

Start your day with a delicious breakfast to set the mood for exploring the city's magnificent sights. Explore the tombs of local rulers in ornate mausoleums. Get carried away by the winding streets between the mud houses and stop for a few words with the locals, perhaps over a cup of tea. Enjoy the famous local bazaar and get lost in its intricate streets - with a cup of freshly squeezed fruit juice, you'll easily forget about space and time :) And since you're saying goodbye to the city today, enjoy the last moments in nighttime Bukhara - whether it's a walk around your favorite sights or just sitting in a garden with a glass in your hand.

Today you can sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast, and pack your things (keeping in mind the check-out time at your accommodation, of course). The first useful train to Samarkand doesn't leave until around 3 PM. Visit your favorite spots in the city one more time, or buy something for the journey at the markets. You can also use the time to buy souvenirs. Furthermore, you can visit, for example, the valued Fayzulla Khodjaev house museum in the southern part of the city (entrance fee 30,000 UZS) and the Chor Minor Mosque (both are within walking distance). This itinerary also includes a visit to the mosque, as it is on the way to the train station. However, the greatest experience of today will probably be the ride on the local pride – the beautiful and comfortable Afrosiob high-speed train. In the evening, enjoy the breathtaking view of one of the highlights of your trip - the phenomenal Registan Square in sacred Samarkand.

Embark on an exploration of one of the oldest cities in the world and admire the incredible beauty of the local monuments, led by Registan Square, which is a true pearl of the country and a pilgrimage site. The three monumental madrassahs facing each other will take your breath away, especially during the night show. And since this is Timur's city, visit the resting place of this legendary conqueror in the opulent mausoleum he had built for himself. If you have time and desire, mingle with the locals at the vast local bazaar.

Enter the mighty mosque, whose arched entrance gate proudly looks at you from a great distance, and behold the huge Koran lying in its courtyard. Head to the magnificent cemetery and wander through the narrow streets surrounded by the beautiful tombs of the greatest figures in local history. Climb to the top of the hill on which the original city once stood, and surrounded by its ruins, admire its present form lying below you. Blend in with the crowds of locals in the markets and satisfy your taste buds here. 

Today is reserved for the departure home, so it's time to say goodbye to this relaxed country. Depending on your departure time and your preference, you can use any time to revisit the Chorsu Bazaar (open until about 9:00 PM) and spend your last local money on something good to make the flight more pleasant or a souvenir for yourself or your loved ones.

Another option may be to visit another place you already know - the Central Asian Plov Center and enjoy the last portion of this local dish there (open daily until about 11:00 PM).

If you don't like any of the offered options, there is still the possibility of walking around the city center and exploring familiar or unknown places (there are, for example, several parks you have not yet visited).
