In addition to delicacies, it also offers a lively, authentic atmosphere, as it is commonly visited by locals. Immediately after arrival, you can experience the famous relaxed Greek atmosphere and blend in with the local smiling and friendly people.

In addition to shopping and tasting at the market, a pleasant start to your vacation can be a walk along the local sea promenade, which lines the entire city center from the port to the White Tower, where a new, modern promenade follows. On the way, you can stop at the center of all the action and the heart of the city - Aristotelous Square. 

History fans can start their journey through the country by visiting one of the museums located around the White Tower (Archaeological Museum or Museum of Byzantine Culture) or the port (Cinema Museum, Photography Museum or Maritime Museum).

You can spend the whole day or even just a few evening hours in many other places without a specific goal, such as wandering through the lively streets of the Ladadika district around Aristotelous Square with its lively bars and restaurants.

Fortunately, most of the sights and attractions are concentrated in a small area in the city center. This capital of the Macedonia region is a bit of an open-air museum, as it offers archaeological excavations of old palaces right in the city center, surrounded by wide streets and surrounding buildings. Explore the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum or the Palace of Emperor Galerius - an important ruler of the Roman Empire. Climb the winding streets of the old romantic quarter to the walls and enjoy the view of the city surrounded by the endless sea. Explore the local ancient or Byzantine monuments inscribed on the UNESCO list. Enjoy the sunset and the evening atmosphere on the local promenade. And since Thessaloniki is a student city, there is no shortage of lively nightlife, shopping, festivals, cultural events and rich gastronomy. An ideal place to tune in to this relaxed and beautiful country.

This place is truly incredible and will surely enchant you. Some call it the Eighth Wonder of the World, and they are not far from the truth. The very location of the local sandstone cliffs rising from the surrounding vast plain seems like a divine revelation. The cluster of Orthodox monasteries literally hanging on the tops of seemingly inaccessible steep rock formations then enhances this incredible spectacle. Of the more than twenty local temples, six main ones are accessible. Embark on their exploration in the following days and immerse yourself in the role of the old monks, whose tenacity and skill in building structures in such inaccessible terrain is almost mysterious and evokes in a person the idea of ​​the intervention of local gods, to whom you are a little closer from the temples standing on the tops of the rocks :)

!!ATTENTION!! Keep in mind that when visiting places of worship, you must adhere to the dress code. Men should wear long pants and a t-shirt with sleeves, women pants/skirts below the knees and cover their shoulders. If it is a sweltering day and you do not want to wear long clothes all day, monasteries usually offer the possibility of renting clothes to cover up.

Today, immerse yourself in exploring the beautiful nature and local temples, reminiscent of eagles' nests clinging to steep cliffs, appearing so inaccessible that it's hard to believe there's an access route. Climb the steep staircases almost to the clouds and soak up the incredible spiritual atmosphere of these sanctuaries. Follow in the footsteps of local monks, whose constructions on high rocks using only pulleys or primitive tools seem unbelievable. Bow to the local gods in beautifully decorated chapels and enjoy views of the magical local landscape dotted with sandstone rocks of all shapes. At night, the outer rocks are beautifully illuminated by city lights, enhancing this magical experience.

From the monasteries and monks of Meteora, you will move to the ancient gods in the famous oracle of Delphi. This small town on the slopes of the mountains hides an archaeological site revealing the center of the ancient world and Greek mythology. Embark on a meeting with the local gods at the Temple of Apollo, visit the center of cultural events of the ancient world in the ruins of the local arena or theater, and explore the local temples and treasuries. After you have thoroughly explored the outdoor ruins in the beautiful natural environment of the mountainous landscape, also visit the adjacent museum, where you can see historical artifacts found in the area and learn more about the history of the place.

Welcome to Athens, a city inhabited for over 3000 years, one of the cradles of Western civilization and the birthplace of democracy. The city's history will breathe on you at every turn, whether you walk through some of the many ruins or monuments, including the symbol of the city - the Acropolis. This hill with its many temples will be today's main destination. But before that, you will see the strange changing of the guard ceremony in front of the parliament building in the main square, find yourself in the place from which the burning torch is passed during the Olympic Games, and of course visit the temple dedicated to the greatest of the great - the god Zeus himself. You can then end the day in one of the many pleasant tavernas in the romantic district directly below the Acropolis.

TIP: On some important days, admission to most monuments is free. These are often the days: 6/3, 25/3, 18/4, 18/5, 28/10 and the last weekend of September. Maybe you will be lucky and your stay will fall on one of these days :)

Today, another journey into the rich history of this country awaits you. Stroll among the ruins of ancient cities and pay homage to the local gods in temples dedicated to them. Deepen your knowledge of not only Greek history in the main state museum. Head to the site of the Olympic Games in the country that is their cradle. Take a cable car through an underground tunnel to the top of a local hill and take one last look at the monumental Acropolis - the main symbol of the city. Enjoy your last Greek evening tasting local delicacies and good wine with the pleasant atmosphere of an evening tavern in a bustling neighborhood, and treat yourself or your loved ones by buying a souvenir.

Today is reserved for the flight home, so it's time to say goodbye to this relaxing country. Depending on your flight time and preferences, you can use any remaining time to revisit some of the city's vibrant areas, such as the surrounding squares of Monastiraki and Syntagma. Here you can indulge in one last gastronomic pleasure, spend time shopping, or just wander around.

Another option is to visit some of the city's museums (if you haven't already) or return to some of your favorite places you've visited before. 

An interesting option with enough time is a visit to the port city of Piraeus. Here you can soak up the pleasant atmosphere of a seaside town with a fresh sea breeze and watch the ships sailing around the harbor.

There is also the possibility of swimming or lounging on the beach, which you can find, for example, in the Palaio Faliro district near Piraeus or in the Glyfada area south of Athens. From the Faliro station on the green metro line M1, you can take the coastal tram that runs south along the coast with beaches.
