The full Murano–Burano boat excursion lasts about 5 hours, returning to Venice with time to relax before dinner. Today marks the transition from exploring Venice on foot to discovering the Veneto by car. Pick up your rental vehicle and begin the drive toward the scenic Prosecco Hills. Rather than heading directly to your overnight destination, stop in the charming town of Valdobbiadene, the heart of Prosecco country. For a memorable experience, rent a vintage Fiat 500 through a tour operator such as "Get Your Guide" and spend a couple of hours cruising vineyard-lined roads with a picnic and scenic route provided. After returning the Fiat, continue north through the mountains to Domegge di Cadore or Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Today is a good day to jump in to the lakes in the area! Begin with the iconic Lago di Braies, one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the region. Arrive early to enjoy the calm morning light, rent a rowboat, or walk the scenic shoreline loop past the charming lakeside chapel, all framed by dramatic mountain peaks. Continue to nearby Lago di Dobbiaco for a relaxed lakeside stroll and lunch with peaceful mountain views. Spend the afternoon exploring Cortina d'Ampezzo and soak in the atmosphere of this elegant alpine resort town. End the day with dinner at Il Vizietto di Cortina before returning to your accommodations for a good night's sleep.  

Drive to Passo Tre Croci, the trailhead for the hike to Lago di Sorapis. This challenging 7.5-mile round-trip route winds through rocky terrain, narrow ledges, and exposed sections, making for a demanding but rewarding alpine hike. After several hours on the trail, the landscape opens to reveal the lake’s striking turquoise waters, set beneath dramatic mountain peaks. A break at the mountain refuge offers a chance to rest and take in the unforgettable scenery. The descent is easier but still requires effort, leaving hikers tired yet rewarded after experiencing one of the most spectacular lakes in the Dolomites.

With your hiking boots fully broken in, today is dedicated to one of the Dolomites' most iconic experiences, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Loop. Drive early to Rifugio Auronzo, arriving by 9:00 AM to secure parking, as spaces are limited and the toll road requires an approximate €30 fee. The Tre Cime Loop is easier than the Lago di Sorapis hike but still demands endurance as you traverse rolling alpine terrain beneath the region's legendary peaks. Along the way, enjoy spectacular mountain scenery, dramatic rock formations, and endless photo opportunities.  After the hike, reward yourself with lunch at Rifugio Auronzo. Before returning to your hotel or B&B, a hike around Lake Misurina is well worth the effort. Travel toward Ortisei with two unforgettable alpine stops along the way. Begin at Cinque Torri, an open-air World War I museum where preserved trenches, tunnels, and bunkers offer a powerful glimpse into life on the front lines. Take the chairlift from Baita Bai de Dones to Rifugio Scoiattoli and explore either the historic fortifications or the scenic loop around the rock towers. Continue to Passo Falzarego and ride the cable car up to Lagazuoi, where hiking trails and panoramic terraces reveal sweeping views of peaks, valleys, and historic mountain landscapes. After descending, continue to your overnight stay in Val Gardena for the next stage of your journey.

Spend the morning exploring Alpe di Siusi, Europe's largest high-altitude alpine meadow. Take the cable car from Ortisei to Mont Sëuc and enjoy a leisurely day wandering scenic trails through rolling meadows dotted with wildflowers, grazing animals, and spectacular mountain views.
