Rhodes is one of the most popular Greek islands, for tourists and locals alike. It is a paradise of beaches and ancient monuments. For a taste of Greek history, head to the medieval Old Town of Rhodes, whose architectural gems include the Palace of the Grand Masters, a stunning fortress with a tall battlement and 4km long walls, and Mandraki Harbour, once home to the famous Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Above the city on the hill of Monte Smith rises the acropolis of Rhodes with the temple of the goddess Athena. The area of Kallithea is famous for its healing springs and there is a spa. The white town of Lindos will amaze you with its authentic Greek atmosphere, its photogenic heart-shaped beach and its amazing ancient complex. For adrenaline enthusiasts, there are excellent conditions for diving and climbing 🕍🌅

Accommodation

You will stay in an apartment in the town of Lardos. It is located about 53 km from the capital of Rhodes, where there is also an airport. For more information on the accommodation, please see the Purchase Travel section for each date.

Transport

Transport to Rhodes is by air from Prague or Vienna (depending on dates). Direct flight takes about 3 hours. On the spot you will be transported by car, which you will pick up at the airport. Please note that when renting a car, a refundable deposit will be blocked on your credit card, which can be up to several hundred EUR. The deposit is unblocked when the car is returned. Although you have full insurance on your car from us (the best type of insurance available), some car rental companies still require an additional fee if you do not have a credit card but only a debit card. This fee can be declined in some cases, but is not included in the price of this trip and will not be refunded. Virtual cards are not accepted.

Time

Summer months, September and October are ideal for visiting the island if you want to enjoy swimming as well. Temperatures hover around 30°C. The sea water temperature reaches up to 27 °C during this time. Outside of this period, it is also great to go "sightseeing"

Olive Oil Factory

A fine place for those of you who like really quality olive oil. The owner will give you a short talk (in English, Greek and even French we overheard) and give you a taste. You can tell the quality by the way the oil scratches your throat when you swallow it. But the taste of these oils is perfect - you can try the classic green olive or the more original black olive. The flavoured oil specially prepared for the grill is also excellent. You can also buy great honey here, which is also very typical of Greece. This is just a short stop in the town of Archangelos.

Tsambika Beach

There is a short path to this monastery, but it is a pretty steep hill with 300 steps at the end. The views (and the funny goats along the way) are definitely worth it though. If a woman climbs the 300 steps barefoot and on her knees, she will manage to get pregnant (there are multiple versions of this tale). However, in the monastery you will then see a whole lot of baby dolls. Admission is free.
