Flight to Iceland, transfer to the capital Reykjavik.

At 7am a bus leaves Reykjavik for the rainbow mountains - Landmannalaugar. On the way there is only one stop for refreshments and toilets. The time spent on the bus is usually around 4 hours. 

From Landmannalaugar to Álftavatn is 21 km and about 10 hours walk. Ascent 881 m and descent 915 m. In my opinion this is the most exhilarating stage of the whole trek. It is slightly more challenging, but offers unforgettable views of the surrounding landscape along the way.

From Álftavatn to Emstrur is 16 km and about 7 hours walk. 600 m ascent and 667 m descent.

From Emstrur to Thorsmork is 16 km and about 6 hours walking. 439 m ascent and 706 m descent.

A day for regeneration or some light hiking in the area. With a bit of luck, you may even spot Arctic foxes. There is cooking at Volcano Huts and you don't have to pack food for this extra day if you don't want to. However, expect "high mountain" surcharges. PS: They also have beer and burgers on tap.

Take the afternoon bus back to Reykjavik where you will find accommodation, a hot shower and a soft bed. You'll have time to do more errands around town, shop for souvenirs, grab some dinner, etc.

In the afternoon you can have some breakfast in one of the local bakeries, or buy some souvenirs, etc. The planes back to Prague usually fly in the afternoon.
