Rome is a city where in just a few minutes of walking, you move between ancient ruins, Renaissance palaces, baroque squares, and places you know from the silver screen. This itinerary is therefore based primarily on walking through the city, with individual sights arranged to flow naturally into one another. The first day is intentionally more relaxed, the second belongs to the Vatican, and the third to ancient Rome. The fourth day will be for saying goodbye to Rome—the last morning espresso, the last look at the narrow streets of the historic center, and slowly packing up your memories. Then all that's left is the trip to the airport and the journey home.

The first day is intentionally more relaxed. After arrival, head to your hotel, check in, and depending on your time and energy, set off for your first walk through the historic center. If you arrive late and don't have much time, a short stroll around Campo de' Fiori and Piazza Navona is plenty. If you have the whole evening, you can continue on to the Pantheon or the Trevi Fountain. Today's schedule depends on your arrival time; if you don't manage to see everything, just add it to your plans for the following days or for your last day before departure (if you have a late flight home).
Today is dedicated to one of Europe's most important cultural centers. You can look forward to the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, and St. Peter's Square. In the afternoon, you'll walk along the Via della Conciliazione to Castel Sant'Angelo. I highly recommend heading to its terrace to wrap up the day, as it offers a beautiful view of the Vatican and Rome's historic center.
You'll step back nearly two thousand years in time. The greatest concentration of ancient monuments on the entire trip awaits you – the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine, the Roman Forum, and the Palatine Hill. In the afternoon, you'll gradually head towards the city center. The route ends at the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.
