Day 1
You'll fly into Bulgaria and head to your accommodation. Bulgaria is a member of the European Union and the Schengen Area, so citizens of the European Union only need a valid ID card to enter the country, but please verify the entry requirements specifically for your home country. Sofia is a clean and beautiful city with many interesting places to visit and a very well-functioning public transport system, which makes exploring this city even easier.
Day 2
Sofia was originally the ancient city of Serdica (now the name of a metro station in the very heart of the city), with Roman settlements dating back to the 1st century BC. In the city center, you can see the remains of Roman baths and roads - some are right in the metro because they were encountered during construction work.
Interestingly, Sofia is greener than most European capitals - more than a third of the city is covered by parks and greenery.
Day 3
You'll head to the Museum of Socialist Art, a fitting end to yesterday's historical tour of the city. Part of this museum's exhibition is open-air. Afterwards, you'll see a very interesting architectural achievement, but one you probably wouldn't want to live in. To end the day, you'll gather strength in the mountains outside the city, from where you'll have Sofia at your fingertips.
