Today, you'll arrive on Sao Miguel Island, pick up your car and settle in to recharge for the adventure ahead. If you have time, explore Ponta Delgada, the island's capital, with its historic streets, harbour and local atmosphere.
Day 2
Today's day will take you to Lagoa do Fogo, a majestic volcanic lake hidden in the heart of the wilderness, where the peaks offer breathtaking views of the azure surface surrounded by green hillsides. Then head to Praia do Areal de Santa Bárbara, a long beach with fine sand and wild Atlantic waves, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll or adrenaline-pumping surf. Finally, visit Porto Formoso, a picturesque fishing village with charming streets and views of the dramatic coastline where time stands still.
Day 3
Today, you will visit some breathtaking places in Sao Miguel. You'll start at Miradouro de Santa Iria, which offers breathtaking views of the green hills and the Atlantic Ocean. Then you'll visit the Gorreana Tea Factory, one of Europe's last tea plantations, where you'll learn about tea production and sample local products. You will then head to Lomba de São Pedro, a scenic spot with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Your next stop will be Miradouro do Salto do Farinha, where you will have a beautiful view of the waterfall and the surrounding forests. Afterwards, you will head to Poço Azul, a natural lagoon with azure water, ideal for refreshing yourself. Finally, you will walk along the Pequena Rota PR39 SMI, one of the local hiking trails that will take you through fascinating nature and offer unforgettable scenery.
