You'll find around 6,000 stalls here with fruits and vegetables, spices, kitchenware, leather goods - handbags, belts, shoes, as well as electronics, cosmetics, or jewelry. What might be too much for some is the section where poultry or various kinds of meat are sold. You can enter through gate number 5. You're in for a beautiful entrance through the gate into sections with fresh fruit, spices, or handmade crafts. You'll see piles of colorful fruit - don't forget to take photos! I definitely recommend buying some fresh sugarcane juice.
What NOT to buy: "high-quality" argan oil.
Morocco, and specifically the areas around Agadir, are the only producers of argan oil. However, at the market, you will likely buy low-quality, diluted oil at an inflated price. Wait to buy it directly at the women's cooperatives (you will stop there tomorrow during the trip), where you can buy the real, high-quality stuff. It will be at a high, but fixed, price.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR:
- Don't go in with a guide. They will only lead you to shops where they get a commission.
- In the summer, avoid visiting around noon - it's best to go in the morning around 9-10 or in the late afternoon.
If it gets really hot, feel free to take a taxi.

I RECOMMEND: Buy a one-way ticket up and take the bus back or walk.

You can also spot Stars of David on the walls, along with original Hebrew names. Entry to the neighborhood is free.
This is a royal mausoleum that was forgotten for over 200 years. Inside, you'll find beautiful architecture, as well as the graves and tombs of sultans, princes, royal wives, and other members.
You can buy tickets online or on-site. I definitely recommend buying them online during peak season to avoid the queues.

Before dusk, head back to the center of the medina. Wander through some more side streets and eventually make your way to the main square, where the light is beautiful before sunset and the markets and stalls really come alive. Feel free to grab dinner right there. Walk through the stalls and try whatever looks good to you. Just make sure to check the price beforehand. Stroll around, have a tea, and enjoy the vibe.
The restaurant is very close to the hotel, so it's a great spot for dinner. I recommend going for some kind of Tajine again.
You'll set off on a two-day trip to the Merzouga desert. Pick up your car at the airport in the morning and you're good to go. Along the way, you'll encounter several interesting spots and spend one night in a mountain town 1500 meters above sea level. If you're planning your trip for winter, keep in mind that the nights can get chilly (down to around 0°C).
You can use the bus. From the hotel, walk to the Sidi Mimoun Region stop and take bus L33 to the airport. If you don't want to bother with the bus, grab a taxi (according to available info, Uber should be operating in Marrakech by now).

This is a mountain pass through the Atlas Mountains with many switchbacks. You'll come across plenty of stops where you can park and enjoy stunning views, or buy tea or souvenirs at roadside stalls. The road is toll-free.
Tips:
- In winter, the pass may be closed due to snow - check the current road conditions.
- Even in summer, bring extra layers - it's chilly at 2,260 meters above sea level!
- Definitely stop at one of the Berber stalls at the top for a coffee or tea.
Parking: FREE along the road in the town. Or by the river for a fee of about 20-25 MAD. Movies like Gladiator, Prince of Persia, The Mummy, Game of Thrones, and many others were filmed here. You'll also find plenty of restaurants nearby, so if you're here around lunchtime, feel free to stop by one of them. Just check the menu and prices beforehand. It's a tourist spot, so prices can sometimes be quite high (120 MAD). If you aren't hungry, it might be better to wait for your next stop in Ouarzazate for a meal.

Today's destination is a camp in the town of Merzouga. Along the way, you'll stop at an oasis town with a Berber village and take a short walk through the gorges. Upon arriving in Merzouga, you'll enjoy a camel ride, a sunset in the dunes, and an evening spent by the fire with Berber drums and millions of stars above you.
Tinerhir is an oasis town where you'll find palm groves and farmland. Local farmers have created irrigation canals here, and each family cultivates their own plot of land.
Ikallalne Mosque
For your visit, I recommend parking next to the Ayt Nasser mosque and walking to the bridge, where you can head down into the fields. Look for the Ikallalne Mosque sign and follow the white arrows. The Ikallane Mosque is very old and also served as a religious school. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair for some time, but in recent years it has been renovated by a local resident (Addi), who will guide you through the mosque. There is no official admission fee, but it is appropriate to leave at least a small contribution towards the renovation. About 20-50 MAD per person is recommended.
Berber Village
Right in town, you'll find an old quarter that you should definitely take a walk through. Leave your car either at the mosque or, if necessary, move it to this parking lot. Unless stated otherwise, parking should cost a maximum of 5 MAD.
Wander through the surrounding alleys, where you'll also find carpet workshops. Be sure to visit an open one and see the traditional carpet-making process.
Berber women weave on traditional looms, and each rug is an original that can take several weeks to make. You will likely be offered tea, which you should definitely accept. If you'd like to buy a rug or perhaps something smaller, bargain! Haggling is normal, but remember that this is handmade work.

Tinerhir is an oasis town where you'll find palm groves and farmland. Local farmers have created irrigation canals here, and each family cultivates their own plot of land.
Ikallalne Mosque
For your visit, I recommend parking next to the Ayt Nasser mosque and walking to the bridge, where you can head down into the fields. Look for the Ikallalne Mosque sign and follow the white arrows. The Ikallane Mosque is very old and also served as a religious school. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair for some time, but in recent years it has been renovated by a local resident (Addi), who will guide you through the mosque. There is no official admission fee, but it is appropriate to leave at least a small contribution towards the renovation. About 20-50 MAD per person is recommended.
Berber Village
Right in town, you'll find an old quarter that you should definitely take a walk through. Leave your car either at the mosque or, if necessary, move it to this parking lot. Unless stated otherwise, parking should cost a maximum of 5 MAD.
Wander through the surrounding alleys, where you'll also find carpet workshops. Be sure to visit an open one and see the traditional carpet-making process.

Souk El Had - the largest marketplace in Africa. You'll find around 6,000 stalls here with fruits and vegetables, spices, kitchenware, leather goods - handbags, belts, shoes, as well as electronics, cosmetics, or jewelry. What might be too much for some is the section where poultry or various kinds of meat are sold. You can enter through gate number 5. You're in for a beautiful entrance through the gate into sections with fresh fruit, spices, or handmade crafts. You'll see piles of colorful fruit - don't forget to take photos! I definitely recommend buying some fresh sugarcane juice.
What NOT to buy: "high-quality" argan oil.
Morocco, and specifically the areas around Agadir, are the only producers of argan oil. However, at the market, you will likely buy low-quality, diluted oil at an inflated price. Wait to buy it directly at the women's cooperatives (you will stop there tomorrow during the trip), where you can buy the real, high-quality stuff. It will be at a high, but fixed, price.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR:
- Don't go in with a guide. They will only lead you to shops where they get a commission.
- In the summer, avoid visiting around noon - it's best to go in the morning around 9-10 or in the late afternoon.
If it gets really hot, feel free to take a taxi.
Agadir Beach. Depending on the weather, you can go for a swim or just soak up the beach atmosphere. If a vendor walks by with a thermos—they’re likely selling mint tea—you SHOULD definitely buy some. It usually costs next to nothing and is truly delicious (honestly, just buy it wherever you are).
You can get up to the fortress in several ways:
- Taxi - probably the easiest and fastest option.
- Shuttle bus - Bus line 24 (ALSA) – board at the "Pied Agadir Oufella" stop, runs every 15 minutes, costs 8 MAD round trip, tickets are bought from the driver. ATTENTION: For the last rides from the fortress after sunset, the bus is usually overcrowded - be at the stop in time.
- Cable car - The cable car is a bit more expensive, but it's an experience with a view of the city. Tickets can be bought on-site. Alternatively, it is said that it will soon be possible to buy tickets online. Address in Google Maps: Station Téléphérique - Cable Car Station. Price: round trip - 130 MAD, one-way - 90 MAD. I RECOMMEND: Buy a one-way ticket up and take the bus back or walk.
- On foot - the route to the hill itself is about 2.8 km. From the beach, it's approximately 5 km. If you decide to go on foot, enter this into your map: Agadir Oufella walking trail
Many people only head to the fortress for the view of the city and the sunset. But you can also take a look inside.

TIP: On your way down, stop at the food stalls below the hill. There's a bus stop for bus number 24 just a short distance from the stalls. You'll find delicious grilled sardines or other seafood there.

Today's plan is a trip to Paradise Valley, where you'll enjoy a walk through the valley among rocks and palm trees, and finally cool off in a natural pool. The evening is then dedicated to relaxation and a traditional shisha.
The easiest way is to take a van directly with the company where you buy a day trip. Usually, hotel pickup is included in the price.
For a visit to this valley, I recommend booking an organized trip with transportation and hotel pickup. You can book this tour, for example. It saves you the hassle of transport, plus they stop at a great workshop where you can buy genuine, high-quality argan oil.
You'll walk through a beautiful valley. Along the way, you can enjoy views of rock formations and waterfalls, and finally, you can take a dip in the natural pools, so bring your swimsuit and a towel.
As part of the organized trip, you'll be taken back to your hotel.
After the trip, you can stay at the hotel to relax or head out into the area for dinner or maybe a shisha. If you still feel like going out in the evening after the trip (and you're of legal age), I definitely recommend this shisha bar. They have excellent hookahs and great service.

After booking, you'll receive your tickets via email; just keep them saved on your phone along with the departure instructions, which include how early you should arrive at the station and the exact address. I recommend leaving between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. It's not too early, and it gives you enough time to get to your accommodation and still head out once you arrive in Marrakesh (around 12:00–1:00 PM).
You'll arrive at the CMT station near the train station. From the station, head towards the Gare Oncf bus stop, and from there, go to the Jemaa el-Fna stop.

In the square, you will likely come across men with "trained" monkeys or snakes. It is not exactly ethical. The monkeys are kept in captivity on chains, and the snakes have their fangs removed. They will tell you it is free, but as soon as you get close and start taking pictures, they will try to force the monkey into your hands and pressure you for money. Recommendation: Avoid them!
I recommend visiting this restaurant at least once for dinner during sunset. You can sit on the rooftop, where you'll have a view of the alley and the sunset.
Tip: We kept coming back here for the excellent chicken tajine with lemon and olives or with almonds and onions. Unfortunately, based on their online menu, they probably don't serve the one with almonds anymore.
In most restaurants, you'll get a salad or perhaps olives and bread before your meal. Always check beforehand if it's free, or how much they'll charge you for it, and decide if it's worth it for you. We had the salad and olives a few times, and both were always delicious.
Today you'll enjoy the old part of Marrakech, such as the Bahia Palace, the Jewish Quarter, or the Saadian Tombs.
You can adapt the individual spots to your own taste and the current weather. On hot summer days, I recommend staying out of the sun at noon. Better to rest at your accommodation or look for some shade.

The Mellah is the historic Jewish quarter of Marrakesh, located right next to the Bahia Palace. The atmosphere here is completely different from the medina. You can also spot Stars of David on the walls, along with original Hebrew names. Entry to the neighborhood is free.
This is a royal mausoleum that was forgotten for over 200 years. Inside, you'll find beautiful architecture, as well as the graves and tombs of sultans, princes, royal wives, and other members.

You're in for a beautiful entrance through the gate into sections with fresh fruit, spices, or handmade crafts. You'll see piles of colorful fruit - don't forget to take photos! I definitely recommend buying some fresh sugarcane juice.
What NOT to buy: "high-quality" argan oil.
Morocco, and specifically the areas around Agadir, are the only producers of argan oil. However, at the market, you will likely buy low-quality, diluted oil at an inflated price. Wait to buy it directly at the women's cooperatives (you will stop there tomorrow during the trip), where you can buy the real, high-quality stuff. It will be at a high, but fixed, price.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR:
- Don't go in with a guide. They will only lead you to shops where they get a commission.
- In the summer, avoid visiting around noon - it's best to go in the morning around 9-10 or in the late afternoon.
If it gets really hot, feel free to take a taxi.
Agadir Beach. Depending on the weather, you can go for a swim or just soak up the beach atmosphere. If a vendor walks by with a thermos—they’re likely selling mint tea—you SHOULD definitely buy some. It usually costs next to nothing and is truly delicious (honestly, just buy it wherever you are).
You can get up to the fortress in several ways:
- Taxi - probably the easiest and fastest option.
- Shuttle bus - Bus line 24 (ALSA) – board at the "Pied Agadir Oufella" stop, runs every 15 minutes, costs 8 MAD round trip, tickets are bought from the driver. ATTENTION: For the last rides from the fortress after sunset, the bus is usually overcrowded - be at the stop in time.
- Cable car - The cable car is a bit more expensive, but it's an experience with a view of the city. Tickets can be bought on-site. Alternatively, it is said that it will soon be possible to buy tickets online. Address in Google Maps: Station Téléphérique - Cable Car Station. Price: round trip - 130 MAD, one-way - 90 MAD. I RECOMMEND: Buy a one-way ticket up and take the bus back or walk.
- On foot - the route to the hill itself is about 2.8 km. From the beach, it's approximately 5 km. If you decide to go on foot, enter this into your map: Agadir Oufella walking trail
Many people only head to the fortress for the view of the city and the sunset. But you can also take a look inside.

TIP: On your way down, stop at the food stalls below the hill. There's a bus stop for bus number 24 just a short distance from the stalls. You'll find delicious grilled sardines or other seafood there.
Take a taxi back to the hotel after sunset. Just be careful, some taxis in Morocco only seat 4 people (if you are 4, the driver won't take you)
Today's plan is a trip to Paradise Valley, where you'll enjoy a walk through the valley among rocks and palm trees, and finally cool off in a natural pool. The evening is then dedicated to relaxation and a traditional shisha.
The easiest way is to take a van directly with the company where you buy a day trip. Usually, hotel pickup is included in the price.
For a visit to this valley, I recommend booking an organized trip with transportation and hotel pickup. You can book this tour, for example. It saves you the hassle of transport, plus they stop at a great workshop where you can buy genuine, high-quality argan oil.
You'll walk through a beautiful valley. Along the way, you can enjoy views of rock formations and waterfalls, and finally, you can take a dip in the natural pools, so bring your swimsuit and a towel.
As part of the organized trip, you'll be taken back to your hotel.
After the trip, you can stay at the hotel to relax or head out into the area for dinner or maybe a shisha. If you still feel like going out in the evening after the trip (and you're of legal age), I definitely recommend this shisha bar. They have excellent hookahs and great service.
Today you'll take a bus to Marrakech, where you'll check in and enjoy your first afternoon in the medina.

Both companies depart from the same bus station. After booking, you'll receive your tickets via email; just keep them saved on your phone along with the departure instructions, which include how early you should arrive at the station and the exact address. I recommend leaving between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. It's not too early, and it gives you enough time to get to your accommodation and still head out once you arrive in Marrakesh (around 12:00–1:00 PM).
You'll arrive at the CMT station near the train station. From the station, head towards the Gare Oncf bus stop, and from there, go to the Jemaa el-Fna stop.
Price: 4 MAD - buy your ticket from the driver (have cash ready, ideally exact change, as drivers often don't have change).

From the stop, you'll walk past various cafes and bakeries.
After checking in, head to the medina, which is just a short walk from the hotel. Wander through the alleys and the main square of the medina. Stop at one of the cafes or restaurants for a drink and enjoy the view of the square from the rooftop.
ATTENTION:
In the square, you will likely come across men with "trained" monkeys or snakes. It is not exactly ethical. The monkeys are kept in captivity on chains, and the snakes have their fangs removed. They will tell you it is free, but as soon as you get close and start taking pictures, they will try to force the monkey into your hands and pressure you for money. Recommendation: Avoid them!
I recommend visiting this restaurant at least once for dinner during sunset. You can sit on the rooftop, where you'll have a view of the alley and the sunset.
Tip: We kept coming back here for the excellent chicken tajine with lemon and olives or with almonds and onions. Unfortunately, based on their online menu, they probably don't serve the one with almonds anymore.
In most restaurants, you'll get a salad or perhaps olives and bread before your meal. Always check beforehand if it's free, or how much they'll charge you for it, and decide if it's worth it for you. We had the salad and olives a few times, and both were always delicious.
Today you'll enjoy the old part of Marrakech, such as the Bahia Palace, the Jewish Quarter, or the Saadian Tombs.
You can adapt the individual spots to your own taste and the current weather. On hot summer days, I recommend staying out of the sun at noon. Better to rest at your accommodation or look for some shade.
In the palace, you'll find gardens with olive trees, orange trees, and fountains, a magnificent courtyard made of white marble and colorful tiles. Don't forget to look up at the ceilings!

ATTENTION: Some reviews from May 2026 mention renovations and closed parts of the palace. Therefore, please check the situation in advance and consider whether to visit.

Check the status of both places (perhaps in the latest reviews on Google Maps) and decide which one seems like a better option (both are within walking distance).
The Mellah is the historic Jewish quarter of Marrakesh, located right next to the Bahia Palace. The atmosphere here is completely different from the medina. There are balconies overhanging the narrow alleys, and you'll find markets selling spices, fabrics, and jewelry (with auctions every day at 4:30 PM). You can also spot Stars of David on the walls, along with original Hebrew names. Entry to the neighborhood is free.
This is a royal mausoleum that was forgotten for over 200 years. Inside, you'll find beautiful architecture, as well as the graves and tombs of sultans, princes, royal wives, and other members.
You can buy tickets online or on-site. I definitely recommend buying them online during peak season to avoid the queues.

Before dusk, head back to the center of the medina. Wander through some more side streets and eventually make your way to the main square, where the light is beautiful before sunset and the markets and stalls really come alive. Feel free to grab dinner right there. Walk through the stalls and try whatever looks good to you. Just make sure to check the price beforehand. Stroll around, have a tea, and enjoy the vibe.
The restaurant is very close to the hotel, so it's a great spot for dinner. I recommend going for some kind of Tajine again.
You'll set off on a two-day trip to the Merzouga desert. Pick up your car at the airport in the morning and you're good to go. Along the way, you'll encounter several interesting spots and spend one night in a mountain town 1500 meters above sea level. If you're planning your trip for winter, keep in mind that the nights can get chilly (down to around 0°C).
You can use the bus. From the hotel, walk to the Sidi Mimoun Region stop and take bus L33 to the airport. If you don't want to bother with the bus, grab a taxi (according to available info, Uber should be operating in Marrakech by now).
It's best to plan your pickup for early in the morning, around 7-8 AM, so you have plenty of time to enjoy the day at a relaxed pace. Your car rental is included in the price of your trip. Please double-check with us to confirm what time your pickup is scheduled.
This is a mountain pass through the Atlas Mountains with many switchbacks. You'll come across plenty of stops where you can park and enjoy stunning views, or buy tea or souvenirs at roadside stalls. The road is toll-free.
Tips:
- In winter, the pass may be closed due to snow - check the current road conditions.
- Even in summer, bring extra layers - it's chilly at 2,260 meters above sea level!
- Definitely stop at one of the Berber stalls at the top for a coffee or tea.
Parking: FREE along the road in the town. Or by the river for a fee of about 20-25 MAD. Movies like Gladiator, Prince of Persia, The Mummy, Game of Thrones, and many others were filmed here. You'll also find plenty of restaurants nearby, so if you're here around lunchtime, feel free to stop by one of them. Just check the menu and prices beforehand. It's a tourist spot, so prices can sometimes be quite high (120 MAD). If you aren't hungry, it might be better to wait for your next stop in Ouarzazate for a meal.

BUT BEWARE. You must enter via the bridge. Not across the river. Places with "Main Entrance" signs that try to charge you an entry fee are not the main entrance. You can also hire a guide (negotiate the price in advance), but I don't think it's necessary.
This stop is mainly for film buffs. These are the largest film studios in the world. Films like Gladiator, The Mummy, Game of Thrones, or Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra were filmed here. If you don't feel like it or don't have time, it doesn't matter. You will return to Ouarzazate on your way back.
The visit takes up to two hours. Parking at the studios is free, or for a small tip (5-10 MAD). If someone tries to charge you 20 MAD, it's a scam.

Today's destination is a camp in the town of Merzouga. Along the way, you'll stop at an oasis town with a Berber village and take a short walk through the gorges. Upon arriving in Merzouga, you'll enjoy a camel ride, a sunset in the dunes, and an evening spent by the fire with Berber drums and millions of stars above you.
Tinerhir is an oasis town where you'll find palm groves and farmland. Local farmers have created irrigation canals here, and each family cultivates their own plot of land.
Ikallalne Mosque
For your visit, I recommend parking next to the Ayt Nasser mosque and walking to the bridge, where you can head down into the fields. Look for the Ikallalne Mosque sign and follow the white arrows. The Ikallane Mosque is very old and also served as a religious school. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair for some time, but in recent years it has been renovated by a local resident (Addi), who will guide you through the mosque. There is no official admission fee, but it is appropriate to leave at least a small contribution towards the renovation. About 20-50 MAD per person is recommended.
Berber Village
Right in town, you'll find an old quarter that you should definitely take a walk through. Leave your car either at the mosque or, if necessary, move it to this parking lot. Unless stated otherwise, parking should cost a maximum of 5 MAD.
Wander through the surrounding alleys, where you'll also find carpet workshops. Be sure to visit an open one and see the traditional carpet-making process.
Berber women weave on traditional looms, and each rug is an original that can take several weeks to make. You will likely be offered tea, which you should definitely accept. If you'd like to buy a rug or perhaps something smaller, bargain! Haggling is normal, but remember that this is handmade work.
It's just a short distance from the previous stop, and you can enjoy beautiful views along the way. I recommend stopping at this viewpoint by the road. You'll get a lovely view of the palm grove, the mud-brick town, and the Atlas Mountains.
You can park your car at the entrance, and admission is FREE. The walk takes about 20-30 minutes. You'll also find restaurants here where you can grab a quick snack, tea, or perhaps some tajine.
The trip to Merzouga takes about 3 hours, so it's a good idea to leave early so you arrive at the campsite address in Merzouga on time. The accommodation will text you when and where to meet.
The accommodation provider will send you information about your arrival and potential activities at the camp in advance.
From the address where you arrive by car, you need to head directly to the camp. I assume you'll get to choose between a camel ride or a jeep ride through the dunes.
In the evening, dinner and a program by the fire await you at the camp.
If you're visiting in winter, bring plenty of warm clothes for the night! Temperatures can easily drop to around 0°C. While you'll have warm blankets, you'll definitely appreciate a beanie for the trip back in the morning.
Today the day starts early in the morning because of the sunrise. Before returning to Marrakech, you have a stop in Ouarzazate. So, if you didn't manage to visit the film studios, you have another chance to check them out or just soak up the atmosphere of the city.
Check into your hotel and, depending on how you're feeling, take a stroll around the city.
Make sure to at least head over and see the 18th-century fortress. If you want to go inside, you can just buy tickets on the spot. There are also guides available there, though you'll need to agree on a price with them beforehand.
A traditional market that is much calmer than the ones in Marrakesh. The sellers aren't as pushy with tourists, and bargaining should be a bit more pleasant. Beyond the market itself, make sure to explore the surrounding side streets.
For dinner, you can head to this restaurant and try yet another type of tajine.
Today is scheduled for the return to Marrakech and dropping off the car at the airport. After returning, you can enjoy Marrakech and its beautiful botanical gardens one last time.
Drop off your things at your accommodation and head out for one last exploration.
It’s a botanical garden filled with vibrant blue buildings. It was saved in the 1980s by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. You’ll find a mix of botany, art, and peace there.

If your flight isn't until the afternoon or evening, feel free to move your visit to the botanical garden to today, or head over to the new part of town where you'll find restaurants and shops. Just adjust the schedule to fit your departure time.

I believe you'll fall in love with Morocco just like we did. However, be prepared for the occasionally pushy behavior of vendors or guides; that's just how things work here, and you have to be resilient against it.
