Helsinki welcomed us with open arms as we wandered through the iconic Helsinki Cathedral, marvelled at the striking red-brick Uspenski Cathedral and soaked in the lively buzz of Market Square by the harbour. A perfect taste of this beautiful city - though we made sure to save the best for last, keeping Suomenlinna and the famous Rock Church for our final day. Dinner out rounded off a wonderful first evening in Finland. 🕍✨🍽️

As night fell over Kittilä, we ventured out into the Arctic darkness with one goal - catching the Northern Lights. Deep in the wilderness, far from any city lights, the sky suddenly came alive with dancing ribbons of green and purple sweeping across the heavens. Standing in the frozen silence of Finnish Lapland, watching nature’s most spectacular light show unfold above us - it was pure, breathtaking magic. A moment that words can barely do justice. 🌌💚

Beyond Tromsø and into some of the most jaw-dropping scenery Norway has to offer. We island-hopped to the paradise island of Sommarøy, with its impossibly turquoise waters and snow-dusted shores. Then we soared above the city on the Fjellheisen cable car for panoramic Arctic views that left us completely speechless. Finally, the charming coastal village of Ersfjordbotn welcomed us with dramatic fjord views and that perfect end-of-day Arctic stillness. A day that truly had it all. 🏔️🌊❄️

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to the little coastal village of Ersfjordbotn - and the sunset did not disappoint. The sky erupted in blazing shades of pink, orange and gold, reflecting off the still fjord waters with breathtaking perfection. Framed by towering snow-capped mountains on all sides, it was one of those rare moments where you simply stop, stare, and feel incredibly lucky to be there. 🌅🏔️

Back on land, the iconic Arctic Cathedral stunned us with its striking triangular architecture and gorgeous stained glass. We ended the evening in style at Full Steam, one of Tromsø’s most beloved restaurants, perfectly perched facing the harbour. With warm interiors, incredible Nordic flavours on the plate, and stunning waterfront views right outside the window, it was the perfect way to toast to an unforgettable day in the Arctic. Good food, great views and even better company -dinner doesn’t get much better than this. 🍽️⚓🌊

And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better - Ersfjordbotn delivered one final unforgettable surprise. Under the vast Arctic sky, the Northern Lights appeared once again, shimmering and dancing above the frozen fjord in a breathtaking finale to a perfect day. Nature’s greatest light show, twice in one trip. We stood in the cold, heads tilted to the heavens, and soaked in every single second. 🌌💚✨
We rose early to catch Tromsø in its most magical light - the crisp Arctic morning casting a soft golden glow over the snow-covered city and frozen harbour. One final ride up the Fjellheisen cable car gave us breathtaking panoramic views of Tromsø waking up below, with the fjords and mountains glowing in the early morning stillness. A view worth every early alarm. Then it was time to say goodbye to Norway and hit the road, driving back through the stunning Arctic landscape towards Rovaniemi to catch our return flight to Helsinki. Bittersweet miles, filled with memories, laughter and one last long look at the wilderness that had stolen our hearts. ❄️🚗✈️

We hopped on a ferry to the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage fortress island of Suomenlinna, wandering its ancient walls and soaking in stunning sea views. Then we ducked into the extraordinary Temppeliaukio Church - carved directly into solid rock, its raw stone walls and golden copper dome creating one of the most unique and awe-inspiring spaces we’d ever stepped into. Helsinki saved its best surprises for last. 🏰⛪✨
