While the autumn date offers shorter days, it gives us a great chance to see the Northern Lights, which we will be watching for during the night :)
We will be adjusting the programme according to the weather and the mood of the group, there are plenty of other beautiful places in my pocket that I haven't included in the itinerary, so it's going to be a really busy week!!!

Arnarstapi is a fishing village located near the Snæfellsjökull glacier. You will see the iconic giant lava walls and incredible rock formations such as the famous natural stone bridge Gatklettur.
Grundarfoss is another majestic waterfall in Iceland. The height of the waterfall is around 70 meters. It is about 15 minutes easy hike from the parking lot.
The most photogenic and photographed mountain in Iceland offers stunning scenery along with Kirkjufellfoss waterfall in every season.
Thingvellir National Park is located about 40 kilometres northeast of Reykjavík. It lies in a furrowed valley that marks the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The more than 16,000 km long rift between the plates is crisscrossed with paths. We can also reach the Öxarárfoss waterfall about 10 minutes from the car park. We will also get to see the Silfra Canyon.
About 10 km from Strokkur, we will find one of the most majestic waterfalls in Iceland and actually in Europe, which falls in two stages and flows into a canyon more than 2km wide. It's a giant waterfall to start with.
Geyser Strokkur is the most active geyser in Iceland, its activity occurs every 5-10 minutes, so we don't have to wait long. A touristic place we can't miss :)
The largest waterfall on the south coast, which will mesmerise you from a distance from Ring Road. We'll then climb the stairs above it and continue walking for a bit to collect some steps and other less touristy waterfalls.
Hestavaðsfoss is the first of a number of waterfalls upstream of the famous Skógafoss.
Kvernufoss, also Kvarnarhólsárfoss, is a lesser-known Icelandic waterfall on the Kverna River. It drops down from a height of 40m and is located in a beautiful gorge about 10 minutes walk from the car park. Kvernufoss is overshadowed by the glory of the nearby Skógafoss waterfall,. Unlike Skógafoss, which is constantly under siege by thousands of people, you can still enjoy (unexpected) solitude here for the time being. And like Seljalandsfoss, for example, you can walk right up to the waterfall and enjoy the interesting views. Plus, right in the parking lot, hidden in an industrial building, is one of the most stylish and delicious restaurants I've visited in Iceland :)

Reynisfjara is perhaps Iceland's most famous beach, with its deep black volcanic sand and impressive backdrop of basalt cliffs, caves, rocks and lush green meadows. According to many rankings, Reynisfjara is even considered the most beautiful beach in the world. Because of its shape, it is also known as Black Sand Beach. The sunrises here are magical. We can also go to the cliff above the stretching beach, the walk up and back takes about 3 hours.
In addition to the black beach, depending on the sea level, we will also peek into the basalt cave, if the safety of the waves allows us.
Sunrise at Diamond Beach will be one of the top moments on this trip. The rays shining through the ice floes on the black beach are something you can only experience on Diamond Beach.
Led along this black beach comes the nearby glacial lagoon of Jökulsárlón, which is located just behind Diamond Beach. If we're lucky we'll see seals too.

The Stórilækur River falls 'only' 20 metres, which isn't much for Iceland, but the cheddar hexagons, resembling the pipes of an organ, give the place its charm and attract crowds of tourists. The waterfall is surrounded by a fence, so you won't be able to take pictures under the waterfall, but it's still a very nice place to visit. We will walk up to the glacier overlook, the whole trip takes about 3-4 hours.

You know the series Katla ? Then you'll definitely recognize a few places from this town. The village of Vík lies on the very edge of the Mýrdalssandur glacier, which covers the crater of Katla, Iceland's most active volcano. The volcano has been dormant since 1918, the last time it erupted so far, leading to discussions about its imminent awakening and potential danger. The village, abbreviated as Vík, is the southernmost human settlement in Iceland and extends about 180 kilometres from Reykjavik. Despite its relatively small population (less than 300), it is the largest inhabited area within a 70-kilometre radius.

It's located a few metres from the car park, and if we arrive early in the morning we'll have it all to ourselves, although the passageway won't be open yet, so we'll head further along the cliff to another hidden waterfall, Gljúfrabui, (which is actually not so hidden anymore thanks to social media).
A previously hidden, unvisited, forgotten and shaded waterfall hidden in a cave. On my first visit we were the only ones to go there to see it, two years later there are lines out of the cave for a chance to take pictures of the rock in front of the waterfall.
