⭐ Madeira, the pearl of the Atlantic, attracts travellers with its unique charm. This Portuguese island oasis is a paradise for adventurers and leisurely travellers alike. From steep mountains to beautiful beaches, Madeira offers endless opportunities for exploration. The green valleys, picturesque towns and crystal clear ocean will dazzle everyone. Experiences such as a walk through the lavender, a hike to the highest peak of the island, Pico Ruivo, or relaxing on one of the many beaches will leave unforgettable memories.
👉 I would be happy to guide you around the island on your own terms. I know the whole island, and I was so excited about it that I keep going back. The last group of people I dragged through the footsteps of the itinerary below were equally enthralled. I like to conceive of it with camera in hand, which means some places may change from the itinerary due to weather, but we certainly won't miss anything.
👉I can offer you a relaxing week in the Atlantic and show you photogenic places. I can't claim to be a professional photographer, I don't have any photography school, but I have been doing photography for 7 years. Of course I'll be happy to help you if I know myself, and we'll do an evening at the computers editing and a bit of a competition to see who can get the better shot. We'll have a beer and I'll pass on the know-how you may or may not know. I'm not going as a photography mentor, but as a helper.
👉I'd certainly like to get a group together who like to take pictures, like to chat over a beer in the evenings, and don't mind getting up in the morning for sunrise. It's not physically demanding at all, but we'll do a bit of trekking every day, except for a couple of the bigger ones. I'm not going there to coach you, everyone can feel the way they feel best. If someone doesn't feel like trekking, they can stay at the accommodation, or we will have two cars and everything is negotiable.
Start of the journey, getting acquainted, picking up the cars and first experiences together.
Car pick-up at the airport and crew distribution.
First beer together and at the amazing viewpoint above Canical, a little getting to know each other and chatting and getting acquainted with the first days, what and how the plan will be.

On the way to the accommodation we will give one more view of the cliffs and the glass balcony.
Today we will test your physical fitness and hopefully I won't be the worst! We'll hike to one of Madeira's highest peaks and experience spectacular views of the ocean.
After breakfast we will take a trip to the ocean, where there are remnants of ruins and a view of a rocky island.
There will be a warm-up walk around the levadas to the balconies where the birds fly on your hand, and it's a tremendous experience. The walk is about 2km long, it's shaded and pleasant.

And while we're at it, we'll take a look at one of Madeira's highest peaks, where we'll have coffee and cake and walk along the summit towards Pico Ruivo. This trek requires a bit of physical fitness, and the way back is not entirely pleasant, but the views are worth it !!!
This is going to be a busy day. In the evening we can look at the photos and plan the next day. Some places are even good to go back to if the weather doesn't work out, or to reconsider going there at all because of the weather. But I think we'll have no problem agreeing at dinner, and we won't miss anything. :)
Today we are going on a trip into the nature to the rainforest and the first waterfalls.
Walk through the rainforest past the first waterfall, the pub at the end of the trail will make our visit during this walk enjoyable. This walk has almost zero elevation gain, takes approximately 4 hours and is just under 13 km.
We will have dinner and rest in Santana, visiting a supermarket on the way to enjoy Madeira wine or beer in the evening.
Last day in this accommodation, the next day we will move to the other side of the island.
During today we will move to the other side of the island. On the way, we can also take a swim and experience a bit of adrenaline on the cable car.
There will be a stop here where we can swim for the first time and see the black volcanic sand beach.
If I survive this a third time, nothing will kill me. There's a 98% slope to the ride and it's really uncomfortable for people who are afraid of heights. But here comes the BUT, and that is that the boardwalk below is something so amazing at sunset that I always live from this experience until my next visit.

We will have a busy day of waterfalls, 25 in total, but we will see one of the most beautiful places in Madeira.
25 waterfalls is such an incredible experience. You walk most of the way around the levadas and through the dense rainforest along the PR6.2 route. Occasionally, views open up into the valley with a winding path, you see some really huge waterfalls, and it's one of the most beautiful places in Madeira. This walk is a hell of a pain though. Fortunately, for people who don't want to pedal all the way up the valley to the car park afterwards, there is the option of taking a taxi for 5 euros back up.
Fanal forest is a wonderful place to relax and I won't tell you more when you are there...

We drive westwards, or to the westernmost point, where you can see the beautiful cliffs of Madeira.
The westernmost tip of Madeira with its lighthouse and beautiful cliffs is definitely worth a stop.
And the very next stop before Ponta do Sol is the famous waterfall across the road, which is also quite a famous place in Madeira.
We'll stop here for some choice food and beer, look out at the ocean and chat. Ponta do Sol is a very pretty little town on a cliff.
Today we are devoting to swimming in lava pools and relaxing.
Bathing in lava pools is for the brave. You can jump there from greater heights, and I looked fear in the eye and finally jumped! :D

Flight day, farewell to Madeira, souvenir shopping.
We'll leave early in the morning, park in Funchal and figure out what we'll enjoy. There's a lot of stuff there, but let's take it easy. We can buy some crap to take home.
Tradaaah, home! Let's watch them put our can on the ground from the terrace where we can see the planes, and fly home.
There is so much to see in Madeira, but I hope we will enjoy it together. It's really a lot, so it's all about strength and good spirits.
