On arrival in Copenhagen, we will spend a day and night exploring this magical city. 🌆✈️ In the city centre, we'll stroll along Nyhavn, a colourful street full of historic houses and cafes that offers spectacular views of the canal and boats. 🏘️☕🚤 🧜♀️🌟
On the way to Ilulissat we land at Kangerlussuaq, the largest commercial airport in Greenland, which serves as the main gateway to Greenland. ✈️🌐 Depending on flight connections, we'll probably spend a couple of hours here, during which time we can walk around. 🚶♂️🌿
On arrival in Ilulissat, we check in and spend the rest of the day exploring the town. Ilulissat is known for its picturesque centre with traditional Greenlandic houses and spectacular views of Disko Bay. 🏘️🌊 Evenings at the accommodation are dedicated to socialising or playing board and card games. 🎲🃏
Today, we will have an unforgettable cruise on the Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 🚢❄️ This fjord is home to some of the largest and most beautiful glaciers in the world. 🏔️🌍 During the cruise we will have the unique opportunity to see the glaciers up close, admire their majesty and listen to the ice crackle. 🔊🧊 After this cruise, you won't feel the need to visit Antarctica anymore. 🛳️🏔️
On this day we will go for an easy hike along the comfortable wooden paths lining the 3 km long yellow trail, or we can stretch to 7 km along the blue one. 🚶♂️🌲 This area is called Sermermiut, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding glaciers in Disco Bay and with a bit of luck we might even spot some whales. 🏔️🌊🐋
Today we have a fascinating boat trip to see whales in Disko Bay. Greenland is one of the best places in the world to see these majestic creatures. 🌍🐳 With any luck, we'll see humpbacks, fin whales and other species of whales in their natural habitat. 🌊
We have seen the glaciers from the boat, from land and now only from the seat of the kayak. 🛶❄️ It's hard to say which option is the most striking, but this one is definitely not to be missed. 🌊🏔️
We will spend the afternoon visiting a local Greenlandic household to learn about the daily life of the locals. 🏠❄️ We will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful Kalaallisuut national costume, which is richly decorated and symbolizes Greenlandic culture and traditions. 👗🇬🇱 You can also have conversations on various topics, and if you don't happen to speak English, I will translate everything for you. 🗣️📚 There are also refreshments and souvenirs on site. 🍪🛍️
We will spend our last day in Illulisat with a free program. You can buy some last minute souvenirs, go for any activity, pet the ubiquitous puppies 🐶 or just relax and absorb the whole experience. We can come up with a joint program, or each on our own. This is up to agreement. 🎉
On the way back home we have one more night in Copenhagen 🏠
