The first day in Budapest was dedicated to a relaxed arrival and a gentle immersion into the city’s authentic rhythm. After a smooth check-in at the Akeah Verdi Budapest hotel—located in the vibrant IX District near Üllői út and within easy reach of the metro—the stage was set for the adventure ahead.The surrounding district provides a taste of local life, with cafés, grocery stores, and easy public transport connections just steps from the door. A short stroll through the neighborhood allowed for a first impression of Budapest’s urban energy—savory bakery scents, glimpses of daily life, and the vibrant pulse of the IX District. With the evening ahead free, guests can settle in, enjoy a drink at the hotel bar or explore a nearby casual eatery, resting and recharging for the days to come.

During my trip, I used the M3 line, (blue line) which at the time was replaced by a substitute bus due to maintenance work. Tickets can be easily purchased directly on board, at vending machines, or at metro station counters. Although Fisherman’s Bastion is often crowded with tourists, the magical charm of the place remains untouched — it is undoubtedly one of those spots that are truly worth seeing at least once in a lifetime. For lunch, one can stop at a cozy local restaurant tucked just below the Bastion. The dishes served here are both comforting and flavorful — a perfect break before continuing the exploration.
The day continues with a visit to Buda Castle, a historic complex that once served as the residence of Hungarian kings. Located just a short walk from Fisherman’s Bastion, the castle offers not only impressive architecture but also sweeping views over the city.

It is an excellent place to sample paprika, sausages, Tokaji wine, and many other regional specialties.

Alternatively, simply walking along the riverbank and admiring the building from up close is enough to leave you breathless. This part of the city never fails to impress.

Margaret Island, nestled in the middle of the Danube, is easily accessible and allows visitors to admire some of Budapest's most famous bridges along the way—including the stunning Margaret Bridge itself.
Once on the island, it's easy to forget you're in the heart of a bustling European capital. Surrounded by lush greenery, this peaceful retreat is home to beautiful gardens, a small zoo, fountains, and tree-lined paths perfect for walking or cycling. Throughout the park, refreshment kiosks and cafes offer snacks and drinks, making it an excellent spot for a relaxed lunch or picnic.

The day ends with a dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, a classic spot with energetic vibes—perfect for wrapping up the Budapest experience with good food and great music.
As a final highlight, the Budapest Eye offered a last breathtaking view of the city from above, followed by a relaxing time soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of the surrounding square.
