Geneva Airport is well-organized, modern, and very well-suited for traveling with children. Thanks to its size, you won't get lost here, and everything is manageable without unnecessary stress. The airport has one main terminal, and orientation is simple. Switzerland is part of the Schengen area, so if you are traveling within its zones, passport control is usually quick, but it can take a while in the peak season.
The second day in Geneva is ideal for exploring the city at a relaxed pace. Geneva's most famous symbols await you, along with pleasant lakeside parks and a swim in the legendary Bains des Pâquis. You can manage most of the day on foot, and cross the lake by water taxi, which is an experience in itself - especially for children. The day is well-balanced: a bit of sightseeing, lots of time outdoors, and a well-deserved afternoon of relaxation by the water.
How to get around the city (important introduction)
You can travel to the city by car, but you will have to deal with parking, which may be unnecessary for this day. Today you can easily manage with public transport.
It is worth buying a day ticket for public transport in Geneva, which is valid for:
- trams
- buses
- water taxi – urban public transport - Mouettes Genevoises (official transport company, not a tourist attraction)
- local train transport - for local SBB / Léman Express trains, if you are only traveling within the city and canton of Geneva.

The fountain is visible from the shore, for example from the Jardin Anglais area or the waterfront. But for the strongest experience, I recommend a ride on the public transport boat in its immediate vicinity. Just hop on the water taxi (Mouettes Genevoises) - line M1 or M2:

The cruise only takes a few minutes but passes right by the fountain.
TIPS:
1. The fountain is usually turned off in strong winds or bad weather, so it's a good idea to check the status in the morning.
2. On the boat, you may feel a fine water mist near the fountain - if the weather is very hot, it is a pleasant refreshment, if it is colder outside, a light jacket is useful.
After getting off the boat, you can continue on foot to the Jardin Anglais. A tranquil green oasis by the lake, home to the famous Flower Clock – a symbol of Swiss precision and watchmaking. A beautiful place to slow down, take a short break, and take photos. It is located directly on the shore of the lake, within walking distance of the boat public transport stops (Molard).

Then you can continue with a walk to St. Peter's Cathedral, which is the heart of the old town and a place with an exceptional atmosphere.

The main goal of today is the fairytale Chillon Castle, standing directly on the shore of the lake, and a short, exciting boat trip to the town of Vevey, where the famous sculpture of a giant fork is located. You will also experience a short ride on a Swiss train, which can be an experience for children and machine lovers alike.
Today, you'll start your day with a trip to Chillon Castle (Château de Chillon). It is one of the most beautiful and visited castles in Switzerland, located directly on the shores of Lake Geneva, surrounded by water and offering breathtaking views of the Alps.
Thanks to its location and architecture, it feels like something out of a fairy tale. Stone towers, ramparts, courtyards, and mysterious corridors will captivate visitors of all ages.
You can drive directly to the castle, where you can park comfortably for free. However, you will need a parking disc (a blue clock card where you indicate what time you arrived). These are commonly available in information centers, gas stations, and even at the ticket sales point for the castle.
From the parking lot to the entrance of the castle, it is a few minutes' walk along a flat and well-marked path along the lake. You can explore the surroundings of the castle for free, but you will need a ticket to enter, which you can purchase online or on-site.

Upon arriving in Vevey, you can take a walk around the area towards the giant metal fork.

It seems a bit playful, a bit surreal – as if someone forgot it there after a giant picnic. The fork stands directly in front of the Alimentarium – the food museum – and refers to it.
After completing the trip, you can return to the castle by boat again (you will have to wait for the next connection) or choose faster and more flexible transportation by train, which runs more frequently.

In Vevey, take a regional train towards Montreux and get off after about 10 minutes at the castle stop, which is called Chillon / Château de Chillon. The ride itself is a beautiful experience - the track runs close to Lake Geneva, so you practically have the lake in sight the whole time. After getting off the train, you can take a short walk, which can have a slightly different atmosphere thanks to the different time of day and the light. Then head back to the parking lot and back to Geneva, where you can recharge your batteries for another day.
Today, one of the most amazing days of your Swiss expedition awaits you. Get ready for a trip to France, to the heart of the Alps, where you will be thrilled by the breathtaking beauty of the Mer de Glace glacier. You will depart from Chamonix - a world-famous mountain resort full of adrenaline, mountains and picturesque views - and take the Montenvers train directly to the glacier.
On the glacier, magnificent panoramas and views of glaciers stretching along the mountains await you, a cable car ride to explore the Grotte de Glace ice cave decorated with ice sculptures, a visit to the interactive museum where you will learn how glaciers are formed and changed. You're going on a trip to France!
In the morning, you'll have about a 1 hour and 15-minute drive (approx. 85 km) through beautiful countryside towards the southeast. The route runs along the lake around mountains, vineyards and picturesque villages. And in a few minutes, you will see Mont Blanc and the majestic peaks of the Alps, which will whet your appetite for the rest of the day at the glacier.
Don't forget your documents:
Since you are travelling from Switzerland to France, you must have a valid travel document (identity card or passport) and possibly car documents (insurance, green card) with you. Checks are not the rule in the Schengen area, but it always pays to be prepared.
Route and payments:
The route goes via toll motorways in France, known as autoroutes. You will pass through toll gates where you can pay in cash or by card. I recommend having some cash (euros) with you in case the card doesn't work, as well as a payment card that works abroad. The toll price is around €15-20 for the Geneva → Chamonix route.

Upon arriving in Chamonix, you have several options for where to park.
The cheapest option is, for example, Parking du Praz, which is located outside the city center. Its advantage is that it is often less busy and more affordable, but the disadvantage is that you have to count on another 15–20 minutes on foot to get to the Montenvers train platform, or you can use the local bus, which will take you closer to the boarding point.
Another option is Parking du Clos Moret or Parking des Planards, where you are also more likely to find a free space, but the distance to the center is still about 10–15 minutes on foot.
However, the best option with children is to park directly at the train station – Parking de la Gare SNCF or Parking du Mont-Blanc (Centre Ville). Here you are right at the cog railway, you don't have to worry about additional transfers, you save time and energy, and the whole trip starts comfortably. The disadvantage is that parking is more expensive and quickly fills up in season, so it is recommended to set off early in the morning.
TIP:
If you plan to park further from the center, I recommend checking the local bus schedules so you know when you can quickly get to the train.
From Chamonix, embark on an unforgettable ride on the historic cog railway Train du Montenvers, which will take you from Chamonix to the Mer de Glace glacier. The journey offers breathtaking views of the Alpine peaks, gorges, and mountain valleys, making the ride itself a real experience. Children will be fascinated by how the train overcomes steep slopes and climbs higher and higher in serpentines.

1. The train platform is located directly in the center of Chamonix, e.g. at Parking de la Gare SNCF.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a view of the mighty Mer de Glace glacier, which stretches deep into the valley and fascinates with its blue color and crystalline structures. A walk along the glacier rocks and views of the surrounding peaks will be an experience for the whole family. There is no entrance fee for the views.
Practical information:
1. The route is safe, but sturdy shoes are recommended, the terrain is rocky and uneven.
2. Directly at the glacier there is a viewing platform and a photogenic place for family photos.
TIPS:
Bring sunglasses and sunscreen – the reflection of light from the ice is intense.
Get ready for an unforgettable walk inside a glacier itself!
After getting off the historic Train du Montenvers and taking in the initial views, a short cable car ride awaits you, or rather a descent by cable car to lower elevations closer to the glacier, from where you will descend a staircase directly to the ice cave.
In total, you can expect about 500-600 steps, which can be physically demanding, but it is manageable even with children. Especially if you make several stops and take advantage of the rest areas along the way.
Inside the ice cave, a fairytale view awaits you! Blue walls, ice tunnels, sculptures, and crystalline formations that change every year with the movement of the glacier. Children and adults alike will feel like they are in a winter wonderland, and each level of the cave offers a new visual experience, and the physical effort involved is definitely worth it!

In the warmer months, the area serves as a municipal swimming pool with direct access to Lake Geneva. Children can enjoy swimming and freedom by the water, while adults can enjoy views of the lake, mountains and the famous water fountain. In the colder part of the year, the place is popular mainly thanks to the restaurant and café, where you can sit with a view of the lake and watch the hustle and bustle.
The atmosphere is informal, relaxed and very authentic – exactly the kind you would hardly experience elsewhere in the city center. Bains des Pâquis is an ideal stop at the end of a day full of walking or as a resting point between sights.

Today, you'll start your day with a trip to Chillon Castle (Château de Chillon). It is one of the most beautiful and visited castles in Switzerland, located directly on the shores of Lake Geneva, surrounded by water and offering breathtaking views of the Alps.
Thanks to its location and architecture, it feels like something out of a fairy tale. Stone towers, ramparts, courtyards, and mysterious corridors will captivate visitors of all ages.
You can drive directly to the castle, where you can park comfortably for free. However, you will need a parking disc (a blue clock card where you indicate what time you arrived). These are commonly available in information centers, gas stations, and even at the ticket sales point for the castle.

Upon arriving in Vevey, you can take a walk around the area towards the giant metal fork.
The giant metal fork stuck directly into the surface of Lake Geneva is one of the most photographed symbols of the city. It seems a bit playful, a bit surreal – as if someone forgot it there after a giant picnic. It is this lightness and exaggeration that makes it a place that entertains children and adults alike and beautifully lightens up a program full of monuments.
The fork stands directly in front of the Alimentarium – the food museum – and refers to it.
After completing the trip, you can return to the castle by boat again (you will have to wait for the next connection) or choose faster and more flexible transportation by train, which runs more frequently.
Train journey:
In Vevey, take a regional train towards Montreux and get off after about 10 minutes at the castle stop, which is called Chillon / Château de Chillon. The ride itself is a beautiful experience - the track runs close to Lake Geneva, so you practically have the lake in sight the whole time. After getting off the train, you can take a short walk, which can have a slightly different atmosphere thanks to the different time of day and the light. Then head back to the parking lot and back to Geneva, where you can recharge your batteries for another day.
Today, one of the most amazing days of your Swiss expedition awaits you. Get ready for a trip to France, to the heart of the Alps, where you will be thrilled by the breathtaking beauty of the Mer de Glace glacier. You will depart from Chamonix - a world-famous mountain resort full of adrenaline, mountains and picturesque views - and take the Montenvers train directly to the glacier.
On the glacier, magnificent panoramas and views of glaciers stretching along the mountains await you, a cable car ride to explore the Grotte de Glace ice cave decorated with ice sculptures, a visit to the interactive museum where you will learn how glaciers are formed and changed. You're going on a trip to France!
In the morning, you'll have about a 1 hour and 15-minute drive (approx. 85 km) through beautiful countryside towards the southeast. The route runs along the lake around mountains, vineyards and picturesque villages. And in a few minutes, you will see Mont Blanc and the majestic peaks of the Alps, which will whet your appetite for the rest of the day at the glacier.
Don't forget your documents:
Since you are travelling from Switzerland to France, you must have a valid travel document (identity card or passport) and possibly car documents (insurance, green card) with you. Checks are not the rule in the Schengen area, but it always pays to be prepared.
Route and payments:
The route goes via toll motorways in France, known as autoroutes. You will pass through toll gates where you can pay in cash or by card. I recommend having some cash (euros) with you in case the card doesn't work, as well as a payment card that works abroad. The toll price is around €15-20 for the Geneva → Chamonix route.

Upon arriving in Chamonix, you have several options for where to park.
The cheapest option is, for example, Parking du Praz, which is located outside the city center. Its advantage is that it is often less busy and more affordable, but the disadvantage is that you have to count on another 15–20 minutes on foot to get to the Montenvers train platform, or you can use the local bus, which will take you closer to the boarding point.
Another option is Parking du Clos Moret or Parking des Planards, where you are also more likely to find a free space, but the distance to the center is still about 10–15 minutes on foot.
However, the best option with children is to park directly at the train station – Parking de la Gare SNCF or Parking du Mont-Blanc (Centre Ville). Here you are right at the cog railway, you don't have to worry about additional transfers, you save time and energy, and the whole trip starts comfortably. The disadvantage is that parking is more expensive and quickly fills up in season, so it is recommended to set off early in the morning.
TIP:
If you plan to park further from the center, I recommend checking the local bus schedules so you know when you can quickly get to the train.

In total, you can expect about 500-600 steps, which can be physically demanding, but it is manageable even with children. Especially if you make several stops and take advantage of the rest areas along the way.
Inside the ice cave, a fairytale view awaits you! Blue walls, ice tunnels, sculptures, and crystalline formations that change every year with the movement of the glacier. Children and adults alike will feel like they are in a winter wonderland, and each level of the cave offers a new visual experience, and the physical effort involved is definitely worth it!

Cascade du Rouget is a powerful, roaring waterfall that is truly impressive. The water rushes down from a height into a narrow channel, creating a noise that you can feel in your chest. The surroundings are green and well-maintained, with picturesque stone bridges and paths that allow you to get closer to the water and observe the power of nature up close.
Journey from Geneva: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car
Hike difficulty: very easy, accessible even for small children; the path from the car park to the waterfall is flat, also suitable for families with prams, although it is recommended to leave prams at the car park for easier movement at the waterfall.

Hike difficulty: more challenging than the previous trip, but manageable with children - the route includes a gentle climb and rocky sections. Not suitable for strollers.

Children can enjoy swimming and freedom by the water, while adults can enjoy views of the lake, mountains and the famous water fountain. In the colder part of the year, the place is popular mainly thanks to the restaurant and café, where you can sit with a view of the lake and watch the hustle and bustle.
The atmosphere is informal, relaxed and very authentic – exactly the kind you would hardly experience elsewhere in the city center. Bains des Pâquis is an ideal stop at the end of a day full of walking or as a resting point between sights.

In the morning, you'll have about a 1 hour and 15-minute drive (approx. 85 km) through beautiful countryside towards the southeast. And in a few minutes, you will see Mont Blanc and the majestic peaks of the Alps, which will whet your appetite for the rest of the day at the glacier.

Since you are travelling from Switzerland to France, you must have a valid travel document (identity card or passport) and possibly car documents (insurance, green card) with you. Checks are not the rule in the Schengen area, but it always pays to be prepared.
Route and payments:
The route goes via toll motorways in France, known as autoroutes. You will pass through toll gates where you can pay in cash or by card. I recommend having some cash (euros) with you in case the card doesn't work, as well as a payment card that works abroad. The toll price is around €15-20 for the Geneva → Chamonix route.

Upon arriving in Chamonix, you have several options for where to park.
The cheapest option is, for example, Parking du Praz, which is located outside the city center. Its advantage is that it is often less busy and more affordable, but the disadvantage is that you have to count on another 15–20 minutes on foot to get to the Montenvers train platform, or you can use the local bus, which will take you closer to the boarding point.
Another option is Parking du Clos Moret or Parking des Planards, where you are also more likely to find a free space, but the distance to the center is still about 10–15 minutes on foot.
However, the best option with children is to park directly at the train station – Parking de la Gare SNCF or Parking du Mont-Blanc (Centre Ville). Here you are right at the cog railway, you don't have to worry about additional transfers, you save time and energy, and the whole trip starts comfortably. The disadvantage is that parking is more expensive and quickly fills up in season, so it is recommended to set off early in the morning.
TIP:
If you plan to park further from the center, I recommend checking the local bus schedules so you know when you can quickly get to the train.

Another option is Parking du Clos Moret or Parking des Planards, where you are also more likely to find a free space, but the distance to the center is still about 10–15 minutes on foot.
However, the best option with children is to park directly at the train station – Parking de la Gare SNCF or Parking du Mont-Blanc (Centre Ville). Here you are right at the cog railway, you don't have to worry about additional transfers, you save time and energy, and the whole trip starts comfortably. The disadvantage is that parking is more expensive and quickly fills up in season, so it is recommended to set off early in the morning.
TIP:
If you plan to park further from the center, I recommend checking the local bus schedules so you know when you can quickly get to the train.
From Chamonix, embark on an unforgettable ride on the historic cog railway Train du Montenvers, which will take you from Chamonix to the Mer de Glace glacier. The journey offers breathtaking views of the Alpine peaks, gorges, and mountain valleys, making the ride itself a real experience. Children will be fascinated by how the train overcomes steep slopes and climbs higher and higher in serpentines.
Practical information:
1. The train platform is located directly in the center of Chamonix, e.g. at Parking de la Gare SNCF.
2. I recommend buying tickets in advance online - children have discounts.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a view of the mighty Mer de Glace glacier, which stretches deep into the valley and fascinates with its blue color and crystalline structures. A walk along the glacier rocks and views of the surrounding peaks will be an experience for the whole family. There is no entrance fee for the views.
Practical information:
1. The route is safe, but sturdy shoes are recommended, the terrain is rocky and uneven.
2. Directly at the glacier there is a viewing platform and a photogenic place for family photos.
TIPS:
Bring sunglasses and sunscreen – the reflection of light from the ice is intense.
Get ready for an unforgettable walk inside a glacier itself!
After getting off the historic Train du Montenvers and taking in the initial views, a short cable car ride awaits you, or rather a descent by cable car to lower elevations closer to the glacier, from where you will descend a staircase directly to the ice cave.
In total, you can expect about 500-600 steps, which can be physically demanding, but it is manageable even with children. Especially if you make several stops and take advantage of the rest areas along the way.
Inside the ice cave, a fairytale view awaits you! Blue walls, ice tunnels, sculptures, and crystalline formations that change every year with the movement of the glacier. Children and adults alike will feel like they are in a winter wonderland, and each level of the cave offers a new visual experience, and the physical effort involved is definitely worth it!
Entry fee: paid (usually included in the combined Montenvers + Grotte de Glace ticket), children receive a discount.
Glaciorium – Interactive exhibition about the glacier
At the top of the mountain, you can also visit the Glaciorium, a modern interactive museum that explains the history of the glacier, its movement, and the impact of climate change to children and adults. Admission is charged and is often included in a combined ticket for the Train du Montenvers + Grotte de Glace. This means when you buy a ticket for the cog railway, you pay for everything and then don't have to worry about anything else.

Cascade du Rouget is a powerful, roaring waterfall that is truly impressive. The water rushes down from a height into a narrow channel, creating a noise that you can feel in your chest. The surroundings are green and well-maintained, with picturesque stone bridges and paths that allow you to get closer to the water and observe the power of nature up close.
Journey from Geneva: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car
Hike difficulty: very easy, accessible even for small children; the path from the car park to the waterfall is flat, also suitable for families with prams, although it is recommended to leave prams at the car park for easier movement at the waterfall.
Walk duration: 15–20 minutes from the car park to the waterfall.

Practical tips:
1. Take hiking shoes and a snack.
Cascades du Flumen offers a longer and slightly more adventurous route. The waterfalls are higher, and the path to them leads through the forest and around mountain streams. The destination offers an amazing "wow effect" thanks to many smaller waterfalls that fall from different directions, creating a natural orchestra.
Travel from Geneva: approx. 1 hour 30 minutes by car
Hike difficulty: more challenging than the previous trip, but manageable with children - the route includes a gentle climb and rocky sections. Not suitable for strollers.
Walk length: 40 minutes to the waterfall.

Sturdy shoes are a must, and snacks and drinks are useful as the journey is longer.
A day at a relaxed pace, combining a strong symbol of Geneva with relaxation in nature and by the water. A short stop at the Broken Chair monument will remind you of the city's international importance, the botanical garden offers space for discovery, play and relaxation, and swimming in the Bains des Pâquis will pleasantly close the day by Lake Geneva. An ideal day without rush, which children and adults will enjoy.
You'll head to the giant wooden chair first thing in the morning. But it's not the one from XXXL Lutz, this one has much stronger symbolism!
You can choose from the option of driving with parking at Broken Chair and a subsequent walk, or taking public transport directly from the accommodation.
When driving, park in the Parking des Nations car park; when using public transport, take the bus to the Nations / Palais des Nations stop.
In the square:
At first glance, the giant wooden chair with a broken leg seems strange and even disturbing. But that's where its power lies. Broken Chair is one of the strongest symbols of modern Geneva and a reminder that the city is not only beautiful and well-kept, but also plays a vital role in world affairs.
The sculpture was created as a challenge to politicians and diplomats who meet at the nearby headquarters of the United Nations (UN). The broken leg symbolises the victims of landmines and other weapons that continue to injure civilians – often children – long after conflicts have ended. Yet the chair stands upright, which has a clear meaning: even in the face of injury and suffering, it is possible to remain strong and unbroken.
Broken Chair is located on Place des Nations, directly in front of the European headquarters of the UN in Geneva, where international conflicts, human rights and humanitarian aid are addressed. It is here that one becomes strongly aware of Geneva's role in the world – it is not just a city of banks, clocks and a lake, but also a place where decisions are made about the fate of people around the world.
For children, it is a good opportunity to open up a sensitive topic appropriate to their age: that not everything in the world is fair, but that there are people and organisations that try to help and make things better. A stop at the chair is short but very powerful in thought – and often one of the moments that stays in the memory longer than classic sights.
It's about a 15-minute walk from the square to the botanical garden, or you can take bus No. 8 and get off at the Botanique / Université stop (at the main entrance to the Jardin Botanique).
The Geneva Botanical Garden is located a short distance from the center, yet you very quickly get the feeling that you are far from the hustle and bustle of the streets. The vast area offers not only carefully maintained gardens, but also plenty of stimuli for children, who can discover the world of plants and animals in a fun and natural way.
The garden is not just about flowers. You will find small animals such as deer, goats or birds, which makes it a pleasant stop even for smaller children. A big attraction are also the internal exhibitions – greenhouses, where you can be transported to the tropics, deserts and subtropical regions in a moment. Greenhouses are ideal especially in bad weather and offer an interesting contrast to the outdoor parts of the garden.
The area also includes a playground where children can play and release energy after exploring the garden, while adults can relax for a while. The botanical garden thus functions not only as an educational space, but also as a very pleasant place for family relaxation.

To get to the next planned location, you can take bus no. 1 or 25 towards «Nations» or «Appia». Get on at the Botanique / Université stop and get off at the Bains des Pâquis stop (right by the lake). Alternative on foot: approx. 20–25 minutes along the lake, beautiful view of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc
Bains des Pâquis is one of the best places to understand how Geneva really lives. It is not a classic monument, but a living space directly on the lake, where locals go to swim, relax, meet and spend time outside regardless of the season. For visitors, it is a great opportunity to experience the city a little differently than just through the sights.
In the warmer months, the area serves as a municipal swimming pool with direct access to Lake Geneva. Children can enjoy swimming and freedom by the water, while adults can enjoy views of the lake, mountains and the famous water fountain. In the colder part of the year, the place is popular mainly thanks to the restaurant and café, where you can sit with a view of the lake and watch the hustle and bustle.
The atmosphere is informal, relaxed and very authentic – exactly the kind you would hardly experience elsewhere in the city center. Bains des Pâquis is an ideal stop at the end of a day full of walking or as a resting point between sights.

- Access is possible on foot, by public transport and by water taxi
- Keep in mind that this is a very popular place for locals
After the end of the day, return to the parking lot by bus no. 8 to the Sécheron / Nations stop. If you left the car at home today, take the bus directly to your accommodation.

Maison de la Créativité is a creative space for children where they can freely play, create and explore. The area is intended primarily for families with children up to about 8 years old, offering themed zones, workshops with various materials, experiments with colors and natural materials, as well as outdoor spaces. There is also a children's program and activities that promote imagination and collaboration.
Each room in the villa is an entry into a new experience. Children can play, create and experiment here, with each zone always offering a new game or activity that is regularly changed. This makes each visit unique.
Here you can find, for example:
