Originally, it was a fortified complex built in the 4th century during the Gallo-Roman era, but it was destroyed in the 19th century. Today, only a fifth of its structure, which covers almost 13 hectares, remains. A walk along the ramparts allows you to easily climb a 2-kilometer route. A visit to Dax's historic center, which is easy and doesn't take long, inevitably leads you to the hot fountain, also called the Nèhe spring. Built in 1814 on the site of ancient Roman baths, it is a symbol of the city and is named after the Norse goddess of water. Its bubbling water gushes at a temperature of 64 °C, which is a real spectacle in the heart of the city that you shouldn't miss.
The square where the cathedral of the same name as Notre-Dame in Paris is located. This magnificent building was built between the mid-17th century and the late 19th century, yet it retains remnants of the old 13th-century cathedral. The exterior is magnificent in its architecture, as is the interior with its numerous stained glass windows and rich decoration. Stroll through the surrounding picturesque streets, especially Rue Neuve with its beautiful shops, and you can also grab some lunch.

Bordeaux is a port city. A lively commercial and university city with a rich history, it is the capital of the Gironde department and the New Aquitaine region. The Bordeaux area is also one of the most famous wine-growing regions in the world, with a volume of approximately EUR 14.5 billion. The historical part of the city with the old port was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in June 2007.
Worth visiting is the Tour Pey-Berland, named after its patron Pey Berland, which is a free-standing bell tower of Bordeaux Cathedral in Pey Berland Square. The ticket price is EUR 9.
