The bus from Rhodes airport to the city center departs from the bus stop in front of the airport building. The bus stop is immediately to the left when exiting the building, between the old and new airport buildings. A ticket costs approximately €3 (information from 2026). You can pay in cash or by card directly to the driver.

Mandraki Harbour is a place where myths meet the present. The way to the harbour takes only a few minutes on foot.
Colossus of Rhodes is considered 1 of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. The Greeks believe that above the entrance to the Mandraki harbor stood about 45 m high statue of the sun god Helios, who is the protector of the island of Rhodes. Today, this place is guarded by two tall slender columns, which are separated by the sea. On one stands a statue of deer Elafos with antlers, which is a symbol of Rhodes and on the other stands doe Elafina.
My personal tip: I recommend to enjoy this place twice during your stay. During the day, when the statues, three historic windmills and turquoise sea stand out, but also at night, when the harbor is lit by street lamps and gets a magical atmosphere. The entire waterfront is lined with benches that directly encourage you to relax and watch the hustle and bustle in the marina. If you get hungry or thirsty, you will find kiosks with refreshments and water in close proximity.
A fascinating journey through time. You will visit the famous Archaeological Museum and the monumental Palace of the Grand Master, stroll through the perfectly preserved Street of the Knights, rediscover the ancient Acropolis, and end the day with a breathtaking view of the entire city.
If you have the soul of a history lover, visit the Archaeological Museum. The tour takes approximately 2.5 hours. The museum is divided into several internal departments, floors and beautiful outdoor gardens full of mosaics. You will find painted amphorae, delicate jewelry, mythological frescoes, ancient statues of gods such as Zeus or Aphrodite of Lindos. You'll get a lot of music for little money.
After visiting the museum, head up Knights' Street (Odos Ippoton), which will take you to the Palace of the Grand Master. Observe the facades of the buildings. They are full of carved coats of arms, signs of knightly families, and Gothic windows.
It is a dominant feature of the old town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site - the Palace of the Grand Master. The castle is not only a reminder of the glory of the Knights Hospitaller, but also serves as a fascinating museum with exhibitions depicting life on Rhodes from antiquity to the Middle Ages. Inside you will also find the famous mosaic with the head of Medusa, brought from the island of Kos. The tour takes approximately 1.5-2 hours.
The ruins of the Temple of Apollo are currently undergoing reconstruction and are therefore surrounded by scaffolding. However, a trip here is definitely worth it for the stadium, theater, and views. The complex is located on the Monte Smith hill.

From the ancient Acropolis, I recommend returning to the main road and continuing a little further along the ridge of the hill to the Monte Smith viewpoint itself. A breathtaking panorama of the azure blue Aegean Sea, the northern tip of the island, and the entire city of Rhodes will open up before you.
Tip for relaxation: If you walk along the main road a little way back towards the city, you will come across a quiet viewpoint with a bench. It is an ideal spot to sit, relax after a day full of sights, and enjoy the most breathtaking views of the sea horizon.
Once the sun sets, head from Monte Smith hill back down to the historical heart of the city, which completely changes its atmosphere after dark. The city is divided into two faces: a modern residential area with shops on the hill and an inner historical city tightly clasped by monumental medieval walls. It is behind these walls that the real evening magic happens.✨
- Atmosphere of the old town: The alleys are lined with souvenir stalls and, above all, a huge number of cute restaurants and taverns. Everything is romantically lit with lights, and traditional Greek music plays from within.
- Food prices: Range from €5 (for a quick but great gyros to go) to €20 for a main course in a classic tavern (2026 prices). There's something for every budget.
- Greek hospitality: Local waiters are incredibly friendly. Once they find out where you're from, they'll happily greet you in Czech. It's not uncommon to receive a nice treat from the establishment – at the end of the dinner, you'll often get a traditional anise liqueur Ouzo as a gift, sometimes even in an original coffee variant.

You can get to the town of Lindos by local bus from the station at the Nea Agora market. You got off at this stop on the way from the airport. The transport is operated by KTEL Rodou. The buses are white and red and are located at the back of the station, where there is a ticket kiosk. The station is divided into two parts, D.E.S. Roda operates in the front and KTEL in the back. You can buy a return ticket directly at the kiosk, but it is not a problem to buy a ticket at the station above the town of Lindos or from the driver. When selling the ticket at the kiosk, they will immediately tell you the bus number that will go to Lindos according to the timetable.

In Lindos, the bus stops at a small station above the town. A free shuttle bus runs from the station to the main gate, or you can walk down the hill in a few minutes.
- Snack tip: on the left side of the road down you will find a stall where a very nice man sells fresh orange juice for 2 euros from local plantations).
Right at the bottom, at the entrance to Lindos, you will find a viewpoint with benches and a public toilet. Then you will find the beautiful white houses and streets of Lindos, the smell of souvlaki, gyros and pancakes, and souvenir shops at every turn. If you are in Lindos outside the main season, be very careful to check the timetables back to Rhodes. The last direct bus connection leaves relatively early, often around 6:00 PM.
Don't miss the Acropolis, located on the very hill above Lindos, where you will be amazed by the remains of the Doric colonnade and the Temple of Athena Lindia.
