Climbing Spain's highest mountain, El Teide, is one of Tenerife's most popular activities. Starting from Montaña Blanca, the route is just under 20km, so good footwear and plenty of fluids are recommended. The summit can be approached by cable car, which can be reached by car or bus. If you plan to hike up to the summit during the day, be sure to secure a permit in advance on the website.
As long as you can walk to the top station of the cable car, you can go at any time of the day without needing a permit. The views from here are also impressive. A good option is a combination - walk one way and take the cable car the other.

This rock tower is one of the most popular places in Las Cañadas del Teide National Park. You can pick up a map at the tourist centre and go on one of the short tours through the rock town. The rock tower itself is easily reached in just a few steps from the parking lot, so you can easily combine your visit with a hike up Teide, for example.
The surrounding area offers a pleasant short circuit around other interesting rock formations, which we have tried ourselves and can only recommend.

The interesting rock formations of Paisaje Lunar were formed by a volcanic eruption and subsequent solidification of lava, which created fascinating natural formations. You can't drive directly to the formations, but you can plan a great hike. We did a 13.7 km loop with an elevation gain of approximately 635 m and the trails were well marked. Nevertheless, we traditionally planned our route via maps.cz and we really recommend this option. 👍

The small town of El Médano offers great opportunities for kiting, swimming on the black beach and visiting local favourites.

Today, you have the choice of exploring the island's capital or heading to the popular Loro theme park full of exotic animals. Which will you choose?
The capital of Tenerife is definitely worth a visit. As you stroll around, you'll be enchanted by the parks, picturesque streets, shops and many restaurants that invite you to stop by. Don't forget to visit the symbol of the city - the modern Auditorio de Tenerife concert hall. Also visit the Palmetum Botanical Gardens, the Castillo de San Juan Bautista, the large Mercado de Nuestra Señora de África market and the Basilica of Our Lady.
🚗 The best option is to park in the large car park directly outside the Auditorio de Tenerife concert hall.
If you are travelling with children, a visit to Loro Park is a great choice. You will find a rich variety of animals, especially parrots, but the amazing dolphin and killer whale shows are also a big attraction.
Iconic rock formation or a trip through the lunar landscape? How about both?
This rock tower is one of the most popular places in Las Cañadas del Teide National Park. You can pick up a map at the tourist centre and go on one of the short tours through the rock town. The rock tower itself is easily reached in just a few steps from the parking lot, so you can easily combine your visit with a hike up Teide, for example.
The surrounding area offers a pleasant short circuit around other interesting rock formations, which we have tried ourselves and can only recommend.

The interesting rock formations of Paisaje Lunar were formed by a volcanic eruption and subsequent solidification of lava, which created fascinating natural formations. You can't drive directly to the formations, but you can plan a great hike. We did a 13.7 km loop with an elevation gain of approximately 635 m and the trails were well marked. Nevertheless, we traditionally planned our route via maps.cz and we really recommend this option. 👍
🚗 Park your car in the village of Vilaflor de Chasna.
The small town of El Médano offers great opportunities for kiting, swimming on the black beach and visiting local favourites.
This beautiful and large beach with black volcanic sand is popular for its quiet atmosphere and smaller number of visitors. It is also popular with kiting enthusiasts. From here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Montaña Roja mountain.
🚗 There is a car park next to the beach, which also serves as a starting point for the ascent of Montaña Roja.
Worldee tip: We recommend going for a meal in the nearby town of El Médano. The bar-restaurant Malavida, located right on the promenade, charmed us so much that we returned several times. Drinks, food and service are all worth 1.
Worldee tip: If you're more interested in a trip to the countryside (or a combination of both), go for a walk in the Black Mountains. It's best to park up in the village of San José de Los Llanos and from there, set off on any length of the varied landscape. The trail starts in a pine forest, continues through lava fields around Monte Negro and finally takes you to flowering meadows. There are many paths and the main routes are well signposted. We enjoyed an easy 7 km circuit.
Unfortunately, every journey must come to an end, so it's time to head to the airport. Be there at least two and a half hours early.
Today it was time to say goodbye to the island. You will return the car to the same place where you rented it.
