We arrive late in the evening around midnight, rent cars and drive to our accommodation. Sleep in and head west for our first adventure.

Ytri Tunga beach is one of the best places to see wild seals in Iceland. The rocky coastline gives the seals a good opportunity to enjoy the land, but at the same time be in close contact with the safe ocean. To see them up close, we have to walk on very slippery rocks with even slipperier seaweed to reach them. So watch your step and be careful not to get wet.

On the southern coast of the Snaefellsnes peninsula lies the massive lava field of Búðahraun, on the eastern edge of which a church was built in 1703. Its black walls and white windows provide an interesting sight in the desolate surroundings.

Arnarstapi is a fishing village near Snæfellsjökull National Park, right at the foot of the glacier of the same name. The most impressive thing about Arnarstapi is its cliffside landscape, which attracts many seabirds. To get a good view of them and enjoy the beautiful scenery, we take a walk along the coast. During our stay here we will see huge lava walls and incredible rock formations.

This mountain is an unmistakable landmark and one of the most photographed locations in Iceland. It is very popular with hikers and climbers. Footage of Kirkjufell has also been used in the Game of Thrones series.

If we have time and enough strength, we will take a short and easy walk to the majestic Grundarfoss waterfall, which is 70 meters high. Be careful not to get your feet wet on the way.🙊

A rock formation on the coast of Iceland, the shape of which reminds some of a dragon, rhinoceros, elephant, or a cow drinking from the sea. The view of this formation surrounded by wild waves is really worth it.

A stop that directly calls for a dip in the geothermal pond cannot be missed.

Not far out of town is this photogenic lighthouse, which is definitely worth at least a short stop.

This city is often referred to as the capital of northern Iceland. The port city is surrounded by mountain peaks and rich in cultural life. We will be staying in this town,  we will spend a pleasant evening here and can go out for a bite to eat.

A city famous for the whale watching we will go on together.

Another of Iceland's iconic waterfalls, its massive cascades offer a beautiful spectacle. The name Godafoss means either the waterfall of the gods or the waterfall of "godi", the old word for priest or chief.

Have we met in Game of Thrones? Yes... The only thing missing is the dragon, but it's as hot as if it were behind you. It's like a place from another world.

Hverir is a geothermal area in the north of Iceland that features steaming fumaroles, bubbling mud pools and earthy colours. Here, you'll get a view of a landscape from another planet.

Krafla is a volcanic complex in the northeast of Iceland. The traveler is attracted to this place mainly by its flooded crater together with the view of the surrounding landscape.

Dettifoss is one of the most massive waterfalls in Europe. It offers a breathtaking spectacle of the beauty and power of nature.

Stuðlagil Canyon is a true Icelandic gem, with its stunning basalt columns.

The Vök thermals were built in 2019 as unique floating pools on Lake Urriðavatn. Let yourself be surprised by how beautiful these baths look like and you will be pleasantly surprised.

The third highest waterfall in Iceland (128 metres) , famous for its red clay layers. We'll hike up the 2.5 km long path to the most beautiful viewpoint.

A lesser-known black beach that we can't miss on our trip. 

Where we can take a nice walk or just hang out on the beach and enjoy the view.

We end our day at Cape Stokness, where there is a very famous and photogenic beach with black dunes and the beautiful Vestrahorn mountain in the background. The perfect place to watch the sunset.

Hoffel has one of the best hot springs in Iceland for travellers. There are a total of five hot tubs lined up side by side and submerged in the rock. Each pool offers spectacular views of the mountains and the Hoffellsjökull glacier. Here we will be pampered by the hot springs and regenerate.

The huge ice floes breaking off from the adjacent glacier will enchant anyone and it is a truly unique spectacle. If you're lucky, you might spot wild seals swimming around the bush.

At Diamond Beach, we get a dazzling view of ice floes glistening on the black beach.

The Vatnajökull glacier is breathtaking from all sides, we will go to see one of the arms and that is Svínafellsjökull. And why here? This is the closest place to the glacier that we can get. The glacial lake here is very small, so we'll be a few metres from the glacier.

A short and easy walk into the Skaftafell area of Vatnajokull National Park provides visitors with a breathtaking view of Svartifoss, or Black Falls. The waterfall drops 20 metres over a cliff that is bordered on both sides by tall black basalt columns. The waterfall resembles something, can you think of anything? You can tell me when we walk together to this stunning waterfall.

Fjaðrárgljúfur one of the most famous and largest canyons in Iceland, it is a 100m deep passage with stunning moss-covered walls and an ancient river. It was also the setting for several scenes in Game of Thrones and can be seen in Justin Bieber's " I'll show you " video.

This picturesque little town is absolutely charming. Here we will take a break, you can go for example to the famous church, which is 100% unmissable, because it is located on a cliff with a breathtaking view of the town and the ocean. You can also check out some souvenirs in the local shop.

The beach of Reynisfjaraneor the beach of Black Sand Island is one of the main attractions of Iceland. What sets it apart from the rest are the remarkable basalt cliffs where puffins and seabirds nest in summer. Also in this area are the Reynisdrangar sea stacks, towering cliffs that rise almost 60 metres above the water.

WARNING! Be very careful of the waves here! They can pull you unexpectedly into the sea and due to the strong currents you are unlikely to get back out. Also watch out for rocks that can break free from the rock wall at any time and fall right... next to you.

Where we have a view you won't soon forget. The incredible space and the immensity of the sea are stunning! Together with the Dyrhólaey lighthouse, we get a panoramic view of the black sandy beach of Solheimafjara. This is also the southernmost point we will reach together.

The Kvernufoss waterfall is located in a canyon near the Skógafoss waterfall. It is interesting because we can walk behind it. It looks like something out of a fairy tale.

The museum is a cultural heritage collection of 15,000 artefacts of regional folk crafts. Items are displayed in 3 museums and 6 historical buildings. 100% worth a visit. The outdoor part of the museum is incredible!

Skógafoss from the Eyjafjalljökull glacier is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. It is almost 60 metres high and about 25 metres wide. It's an incredible sight to see tons of water crashing against the black rocks. It's also one of the best places to see a rainbow on a sunny day.

Seljalandsfoss is the more impressive, more stunning, more famous and more spectacular brother of Gljufrabui waterfall. One of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland, it is also the most beautiful waterfall on the Seljalands River, originating from the Eyjafjalljökull glacier. It has a drop of 60 metres and is surrounded by stunning scenery. You can also walk behind it thanks to a small cave at the back. It is best to visit it just before sunset to see the sun setting behind the water screen.

The Gljufrabui Waterfall or the so-called Secret Waterfall (my favourite) is a magical place and a natural beauty. It is called so because it can only be seen when you enter the cave. The entrance is somewhat narrow, so be prepared for balancing, a bit more coordination and trying not to get your shoes wet in the river because the water from the waterfall drains through the aforementioned cave entrance.😁

According to several travellers, it is one of the best hot springs in Iceland. It has a small hut and is partially covered by a hillside, giving it a cosy atmosphere. You'll feel like a hobbit. And be warned, don't be put off by how small it is. The smaller the pool of water, the warmer the bath.

Gullfoss is the most massive waterfall in Europe. It is magnificent from every angle and at any time of the year.  There is no need to add anything to this, when you see it, you will understand.

The largest and most famous geyser Stokkar near the village Geysir. It emits streams of steam and water up to 90 °C to a height of almost 10 metres every 5 to 10 minutes.

We will take a short rest break in one of the three national parks in Iceland, Þingvellir. This place is significant mainly because of the break between the lithospheric plates.

We will spend our last day in the capital city of Reykjavik, where we will see the famous Hallgrímskirkja Church, the Sun Voyager Monument and other interesting places in the centre. There will of course be room for souvenir shopping. We'll spend the evening having dinner together and relaxing at a local restaurant before heading out for some fun at a local bar with live music (trust me, absolutely everyone will love it).

Situation and safety permitting, we will go to see Fagradalsfjall and the surrounding area. A young and active volcano in southwest Iceland, it became famous for its eruptions in 2021, which attracted worldwide attention. The eruptions lasted about 6 months in total. They then resumed in 2022, for a total of only 3 weeks. Before 2021, Fagradalsfjallv volcano had not erupted for more than 6,000 years.

The 2023-2024 Sundhnúkur eruptions are a continuing series of volcanic eruptions on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Five eruptions occurred between December 2023 and June 2024, following an intense series of earthquakes. The eruptions were preceded by an intense earthquake swarm in the Eldvörp-Svartsengi volcanic system, which began as early as 24 October 2023.

And it's far from over; it's estimated that the siege could be active for decades.

And where it began, it is slowly ending. One adventure ends and another awaits.
