Randi and I set to explore and document one of our favorite regions of the world, Andalusia, Spain for our website www.justapack.com Our goal was to use Malaga as a home base and spend 2 months slowly getting to know the "lay of the land" while visiting all sorts of places within a 2 hour bus or train ride from Malaga. We decided to go in Mid January and return to Prague in mid March.

Granada was the first city we visited during our stay in Andalucia. We stayed here for 3 days. Weather wise Granada was much much colder than Malaga in February, which makes sense due to its elevation. We really enjoyed the ancient ambiance of Granada's Old Town. The Alhambra was as magnificent as expected, but the charm of the Old Town is what stuck with us the most after we left. Due to the time of year we were visiting we were able to get deals on a very nice 4 star hotel in Granada. We don't usually stay in hotels, i order to cut trip costs, preferring Airbnbs, but the value was great so we went with it.

Seville is the capital of southern Spain’s Andalusia region. It's famous for flamenco dancing, particularly in its Triana neighborhood. We LOVE this city, it is a tapas wonderland. We have been here three times now and always find a way to spend way too much time drinking Sangria and eating delicious tagas (lots of vegan options too!). On this trip we stayed in Seville for three days and explored its many landmarks.

Ronda is a rather small town, located some 90 minutes from Malaga, or a hour from Seville. It's nestled in a beautiful valley, and is home to the "Puente Nuevo", a spectacular bridge which spans who cliffsides in the town. We stayed here for two nights and did some hiking down from Ronda and into the valley. We really enjoyed our time here for the gorgeous views, and the quiet atmosphere. Highly recommended, even if only for a day trip (we, of course, recommend spending more time to explore slowly).

It’s best known for La Mezquita, an immense mosque dating from 784 A.D., featuring a columned prayer hall and older Byzantine mosaics. After it became a Catholic church in 1236, a Renaissance-style nave was added in the 17th century. Cordoba was the final city we explored on our Andalucia adventure. We spent two nights here, and we reckon that was enough. The Old Town is an interesting place to explore for a couple of days, but the city itself was not our favorite. We recommend Cordoba for a day trip, and maybe one night.
