Welcome to São Miguel - an island known for its endless greenery, dramatic coastline, thermal springs and unique nature. The first day of your trip begins in the capital, Ponta Delgada, where you will discover a mixture of colonial architecture, narrow streets and a relaxed island atmosphere. It is the ideal starting point to discover an island that will win you over with its authenticity and untamed beauty.

Today's day will take you to one of the most famous places on the island of São Miguel – the Sete Cidades caldera. You will start at the Boca do Inferno viewpoint, which offers one of the most impressive views of the volcanic crater. After a short walk, you will come across the nearby Lagoa do Canário, hidden in a dense forest. You will also visit Vista do Rei, a viewpoint overlooking the blue and green twin lakes. From there, the road winds down to the village of Sete Cidades, a peaceful town on the shores of the lakes with an iconic church.

The third day belongs to the town of Furnas, known for its hot springs and volcanic landscape. A unique place in Furnas is Terra Nostra Park with a thermal lake colored orange. In the middle of this botanical park you can relax among tropical greenery, ferns and quiet paths. Before visiting, stop at the nearby 3 Bicas Pub for a delicious brunch and recharge your energy for a day full of volcanic nature.

On the fourth day, you'll start on the north coast, where the Gorreana and Porto Formoso tea plantations are located – a unique feature of the European continent. You can walk among the rows of tea plants, take a look at the production process, and enjoy a cup of fresh tea overlooking the Atlantic. Then, you'll drive to Ribeira Grande, a town with charming streets and a small chocolate shop that will delight every sweet tooth. In the afternoon, you'll move to Caldeira Velha, a nature reserve hidden in tropical greenery. This geothermal oasis is significantly more natural and wild than, for example, Terra Nostra – hot springs flow directly from the slopes of the volcano and feed ponds surrounded by rainforest.

On the fifth day, start at Praia dos Moinhos beach, where you can walk on the black volcanic sand and enjoy a peaceful morning by the ocean. Then head to Poça da Dona Beija, the island's most beautiful hot springs with a perfect relaxing atmosphere. This is followed by a short stop in Jardim da Alameda park with a waterfall. Finally, the fumaroles of Caldeiras das Furnas await you, where the traditional Cozido das Furnas is cooked directly in the hot soil.

The sixth day will take you to a less visited but all the more beautiful part of the island, the east coast. In the morning, you will start with a walk in the Jardim da Ribeira do Guilherme botanical park, with a waterfall and a small lake, which you will most likely have all to yourself. From there, you will head to the Ponta do Sossego viewpoint, which offers some of the most impressive views of the ocean and cliffs. For lunch, you will stop in the town of Nordeste, known for its slow pace and friendly atmosphere. You will end the day in the Ribeira dos Caldeirões park, where you will walk among waterfalls and historical mills.

Enjoy the last day at a leisurely pace. If you have more time before your departure, head to Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Paz – a white chapel above the town of Vila Franca do Campo. If you have less time, you can visit the last city garden of your trip directly in Ponta Delgada - Jardim Botânico José do Canto.
