One of the most stunning beaches in the world is at your fingertips! It's time to see it for yourself! Get in the car and hit the road. You've barely driven a few minutes when the road turns black beneath you. And then, suddenly, in front of you: Reynisfjara Beach! Pitch-black sand, monumental rocks and roaring waves crashing foaming onto the shore. The power of nature is on full display here - to the point of giving you goosebumps! But beware: unexpected "sneaker waves" can quickly become dangerous, so be careful! And if you want to see the beauty of Iceland's volcanic history in full force, visit the Hálsanefshellir cave, where black, angular basalt columns tower to a height of almost 15 metres - the perfect place for photography!

In the distance, the next destination is already looming: the Dyrhólaey Peninsula. Walk along the steep cliffs and, if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the cute puffins that occasionally appear here. And if you're looking for an unforgettable experience, you can't miss the plane wreck on Sólheimasandur beach! Leave your car in the parking lot and take a quiet walk through the lonely landscape, where the cool breeze, black stones, mountains and the sea in the distance create a mysterious atmosphere. And then, suddenly, there's this mysterious wreck lying in front of you - a sight that literally takes your breath away!

Contradictory things attract - and maybe they attract you too? In Skaftafell National Park, you'll experience Iceland's contrasts in a particularly compelling way. An extensive network of hiking trails stretches between the lava plains and the numerous rivers that spring from the glacial outwash of Skeidarárjökull, Morsárjökull and Skaftafellsjökull. Your destination is Svartifoss! The Black Waterfall does justice to its name: from dark, snow-covered basalt columns, the water rushes into the depths. Before you get too chilled - stiff with admiration - you set off again. At the glacial lagoon of Jökulsárlón, which stretches icily into the distance, the hum of your engine dies away in lonely silence. The view into the distance leaves you in disbelief: diamonds washed up on the black sandy beach - welcome to Diamond Beach! A closer look reveals that glittering chunks of ice lie scattered everywhere.

The most important companion for the day: your camera! The Stokksnes Peninsula and the famous Vestrahorn are just waiting for you to take their picture (optional, entrance fee paid on site)! At first glance, the twelve-kilometre-long spur of land may seem inconspicuous. But the black dunes, which will make you feel like a dwarf, and the lagoon, which looks like it was painted, will captivate you from the first second. And then there's the absolute highlight of the peninsula: the mighty Vestrahorn with its two unmistakable peaks. Depending on the tide, the mountain massif is reflected in the calm water of the lagoon. Your camera fills up on its own and when you check it out, you will find that the Vestrahorn looks perfect in every photo! You may have heard of "Batman's Mountain" - and looking at the silhouette of the eastern part of the mountain, you'll understand why. The evening is best spent in the restaurants and bars of Höfn.

Volcanoes and glaciers, mountains and black beaches, lakes and waterfalls - it's all on your list. But Iceland offers so much more! For example, a huge forest area. Yes, to the north of you lies the largest forest on the island: Hallormsstadaskogur. Leave the car in the car park, put on your hiking boots and make your way to the second largest waterfall in the country. Litlanesfoss with its dark basalt rocks will captivate you on the way, and after five kilometres you will find yourself in front of the stunning water masses of Hengifoss. On the way back, there is one more spectacle to see: the valley and the tranquil Lagarfjot lake that stretches out below you - there is always something to see. Perhaps you'll even catch a glimpse of the head of the legendary sea monster as it emerges from the surface of the lake? Iceland's version of Loch Ness would be a real treat! And at the end of the day, enjoy the beauty of the village of Seyðisfjörður. As the sun sets, take a stroll along the "Rainbow Boulevard" towards the small chapel, the perfect backdrop to end the day.

Icelandic diamonds await you today! A walk around the base of the famous diamond circle will reveal other natural wonders. Dettifoss, the most massive waterfall in Europe, will amaze you with its power. The huge water curtain rushes down from the basalt cliff for more than 100 metres. As the spray rises around you, you can hardly understand your own words. Dettifoss is truly wild and unimaginably impressive.

And then you find yourself in hot water. On the crest of Námafjallu, you are immersed in a surreal world of bubbling mud pots and hot clouds of steam. It's hard to tell if your feet are a few metres or just a few centimetres from the hot rock, because with the Krafla volcanic system you never know what you're going to find! But don't worry, hiking trails will safely explore this Mars-like landscape.

And then, instead of a barren landscape, at Lake Myvatn, you suddenly discover life flourishing. The best view of the fertile wetlands is from the rim of the volcanic crater Hrafjall. The last stop of the day: Godafoss, the waterfall of the gods, which closes you in with its beauty.

After a full day of adventures, you will be welcomed by Eyjafjördur Fjord and your accommodation in beautiful Akureyri, where you will rest and recharge for the next day.

Walking around Akureyri or whale watching in Húsavík - which will you choose? You might decide to start your day with a walk through the city at sunrise. The smell of freshly baked rolls and coffee mingles with the cool morning air, beckoning you to one of the many cosy cafes. Did you know that Akureyri is located on Iceland's largest fjord? Eyjafjördur, which is 60 kilometres long and 24 kilometres wide, is a real spectacle! You can walk along its shores or take a drive and enjoy the view of the dark blue sea with the mountain peaks in the background. And in the depths of the fjord, there are underwater "white smokers" - hot springs of water rising up to 45 metres above sea level!

If you still want more, then be surprised when something huge emerges from the water. A whale! And if you wish to experience this even closer, Húsavík, Europe's whale watching capital, is just a short drive away. Just head to the small port town, hop on a boat and go whale watching (optional, for a fee). What adventure awaits you?

Get out of bed, get in your rental car and head to the West Coast - the adventure begins! First you smile at the hearts that light up the traffic lights in Akureyri, and moments later you find yourself in the Öxnadalur valley, surrounded by wild mountains. That's quite possible! Your journey will take you through Skagafjördur, one of the most famous horse breeding areas in Iceland. The solitude and tranquillity here has never looked more beautiful!

The last and most impressive stop on today's roadtrip is the Kolugljúfur Gorge. After ten kilometres on road 715, the gorge opens up in front of you, through which the river flows. Both its banks are adorned with waterfalls that rush down with a roar. What a breathtaking sight! And best of all, you have it all to yourself, because few people come here - a real hidden treasure!

The first rays of sunlight accompany you on your journey to the Snæfellsnes peninsula, which will amaze you with its beauty: steep cliffs, deep volcanic craters, dramatic waterfalls and cute seals. The first stop takes you to Ytri-Tunga beach, where you can spot seals. A little further west you'll come across Bjarnarfoss, a waterfall that plunges 80 metres into the depths with a roar, surrounded by moss-covered lava fields. This enchanting scenery brings you to the lonely Búdakirkja, the Black Church of Búdir, which stands majestically in the desolate landscape.

At the wheel, you'll marvel at the scenery again and again: in the narrow Raudfeldsgjá gorge, you'll reach a mysterious stone bridge amid rugged rocks, where the surf crashes fiercely against the solid rock. On Djúpalónssandur, a beach of black pearls, you will feel like you are in another world. The pitch-black sand and old shipwreck will literally give you goosebumps. The stairs will take you to another highlight: the Saxholl Crater, where you will have a spectacular view of the majestic volcanic glacier Snæfellsjökull, which proudly dominates the peninsula.

For "Game of Thrones" fans, a stop at Kirkjufell is a must. This famous gold-tipped hill, with its rushing Kirkjufellsfoss, stands as an unmistakable symbol of natural beauty that should not be missed.

Get ready for the final leg of your journey! Step on the gas and head to Reykjavik. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Icelandic nature one last time. A stop in Akranes is essential! This picturesque harbour town will charm you with its historic wooden houses. Unmistakable landmarks are the two lighthouses that directly invite you to take a photo. After a cup of hot drink, you get back in the car and head towards the capital, where you check into your hotel.

And now comes your personal adventure in Reykjavik! Do you want a view straight out of "Lord of the Rings"? Head to the observation deck of Hallgrímskirkja Church! If the altitude doesn't tempt you, take a stroll around the harbour and see the Harpa Concert Hall and other gems of Icelandic architecture. What about the Northern Lights? Visit the Perlan Museum, where you'll not only learn fascinating information about Iceland's history, but you can also enter a real ice cave and enjoy a breathtaking aurora show in the planetarium (admission paid locally).

Burning and steaming, bubbling and hissing - the hot springs around the volcanic area of Krýsuvík will surely amaze you! Following the wooden walkways, you can approach the fiery heart of Reykjanes, where the landscape lies before you in vibrant colours, and feel the untamed power of the earth itself. Continue towards the Fagradalsfjall volcano: Not so long ago, this name was all over the headlines. Now is your chance to see it for yourself. The lava flows that poured out of the ground and created a stunning natural spectacle may have solidified, but their power is still astonishing! You will follow hiking trails through this "dragon landscape" where nature has left its unmistakable mark.

It gets really hot in Gunnuhver - right above it is Iceland's hottest geothermal area. Temperatures below the springs exceed 300°C! And Reykjanes has another great attraction for you: want to walk from one continent to another? It sounds like science fiction, but it's true! The 18-metre-long Brúin milli heimsálfa bridge connects the continental plates of Eurasia and North America - a fascinating example of tectonic plate movement!
