The arcade-lined Praça do Giraldo Square, with its Igreja de Santo Antao church, is the heart of the city and the ideal starting point for your explorations. Street musicians play the soundtrack to the colourful action as you wander the narrow streets, admire the bright white facades of the houses and browse the souvenir shops.

Today, before you make your way to your new accommodation, you'll take a short trip to Monsaraz. This picturesque hilltop town will enchant you with its white architecture and medieval castle that looks like it belongs to another century. You will enjoy the tranquillity of this magical place and be captivated by the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside until you are once again overcome with the desire for more adventure.

Then you'll get behind the wheel again and head south - towards the Algarve! Once you arrive in Monte Gordo, there's one more stop before you dive into beach paradise: you'll visit the wetlands between Castro Mari and Vila Real de Santo António. You'll put on your hiking boots to admire the floating flamingos walking on the water and breathe in the refreshing scent of orange and lemon groves. But now: to the beach, which is just a short walk from your accommodation!

Your accommodation is just a few hundred metres from the Spanish border, so a morning walk to the Guadiana River will give you a glimpse of the neighbouring country. After a brief contemplation, it's time to get back in the car and head west. Your destination? Ria Formosa Natural Park - a unique labyrinth of canals, salt pans, sand benches and wetlands. Here, nature is constantly changing its face according to the rhythm of the tide - islands that have just emerged disappear under the water's surface. Take one of the many trails and keep your eyes open - with luck you'll spot flamingos, purple gallinules or white storks. And if you're looking to relax, there are also magical, almost deserted beaches waiting for you.

It's time to pack your bags and head out to discover more of the Algarve's natural treasures! First stop is the famous Praia da Falésia - a place where red-hued cliffs rise majestically above golden sands and turquoise ocean. The reality here surpasses all photographs! Enjoy a moment of relaxation before you head to Portimão.

From here, an adventurous cruise to the famous Benagil Caves awaits you. The sunlight streaming through the opening in the vault creates a magical play of lights in the cave, while the sea glows in shades of turquoise around you. Don't forget to refresh yourself in the sea at Praia da Marinha, one of the most beautiful beaches in the region.

And in the evening? After a day of adventure, treat yourself to a culinary experience in Lagos. Try the fresh seafood at O Camilo Restaurant, which offers breathtaking ocean views. Then just enjoy a quiet evening soaking up the Algarve atmosphere.
