Your day begins with the flight to Bilbao. After landing at Bilbao Airport, you pick up your luggage and make your way to the rental car check-in. With the rental car in tow, you drive to your first destination. 

Please note: In Spain, a distance-based toll is charged (autopistas, AP), no vignette is required. You will be charged approximately 7 to 12 euros per 100 km.

The drive from Bilbao to Comillas takes you through the lush green of Cantabria, past meadows, small villages and with constant views of the sea. The journey itself feels peaceful and decelerating.

Once in Comillas, the imposing El Capricho de Gaudí enchants with its colors and playful shapes. High above the coast, the Palacio de Sobrellano and its chapel tell of times gone by. A walk through the old town rounds off the day.

Explore an untouched, very wide natural beach, enjoy the fresh sea breeze and the feeling of the sand under your feet. Pine forests and dunes also await you. The ideal environment for active recreation. Every now and then you can also watch surfers riding the waves. I also have a nice suggestion for a regenerative hike with great views and few people.

Today, one of the longest drives of your trip awaits you. But don't worry - it offers phenomenal views! The drive from Oyambre to Foz takes you through one of the most beautiful regions of northern Spain. The route runs westward along the Cantabrian coast, past green hills, small villages and again and again with a view of the sea. Behind San Vicente de la Barquera, the landscape opens up, the roads become quieter and the north shows its original side.

In Asturias, coastal sections and rural areas alternate before you reach Galicia near Ribadeo. The surroundings here seem wider and more relaxed, characterized by open landscapes and the steady rhythm of the Atlantic. Once in Foz, you will be greeted by a relaxed coastal town - ideal for ending the trip in peace.

Your day begins at Praia das Catedrais, where the impressive rocks emerge from the Atlantic at low tide in dramatic arches and tunnels. Enjoy the breathtaking views and explore this unique beach.

If you feel like it, you can make a stop in the famous pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela during the drive. It's on the way. However, I haven't been there and unfortunately can't give you any tips.

After visiting Praia das Catedrais, continue to Combarro, a picturesque fishing village on the Ría de Pontevedra. Stroll through the narrow streets, admire the traditional Hórreos, and enjoy the view of the harbor and the sea. Enjoy a fresh fish dish in one of the local restaurants before ending the day with a leisurely walk along the coast.

If you have time before your departure, treat yourself to a visit to Vigo's Old Town. Enjoy the atmosphere as you stroll through the charming streets. Or visit Castro Park for a nice view of the city and the harbor. 

Allow enough time for the drive to the airport (20 - 30 min.) and to drop off your rental car. 

The return flight gives you time to review the impressions of the trip through northern Spain and to look forward to future adventures.
