Hello Sicily! Welcome to Sicily, which is known, among other things, for its excellent cuisine. Sicily is the cradle of cannoli (a dessert in the form of tubes filled with sweet ricotta cheese cream, which can be flavored with pistachios, chocolate and more), granita (ice flakes in the form of frozen sorbet), arancini (fried rice balls with various fillings) or panelle (thin fried pancakes made from chickpea flour).

A true Sicilian marketplace awaits you, impressing with its chaotic yet lively atmosphere. You'll stroll through the beautiful historical center, savor some of the best cannoli served in a monastery, and also experience the city's darker side—learning more about the infamous Cosa Nostra mafia, which has brought notoriety to all of Sicily.

Taormina is one of the most beautiful and visited places in Sicily. It lies high above the sea on a rocky cliff and offers a combination of history, views and Mediterranean atmosphere. Taormina has one of the most beautiful Greek theaters in the world, where concerts and performances are held. The whole city became known to the public thanks to the White Lotus series, one series of which was filmed here. 

Syracuse (Italian: Siracusa) is one of the most beautiful historical cities in Sicily. It offers a combination of antiquity, the sea, and a very atmospheric old town, which is actually an island called Ortigia. You'll be surprised by the clean, narrow, and winding streets, or perhaps the freshwater spring right by the sea.

Today, you will walk through Catania, which, unlike the elegant Taormina and Syracuse, is a more chaotic and raw city. There aren't as many sights. Interestingly, Catania has been covered in lava and destroyed by earthquakes several times in history (especially in 1693), yet it has always been rebuilt in the same place. You may also notice that a large part of the center is made of black volcanic rock from Etna, which is why Catania has a typical dark appearance of buildings.

Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe (approximately 3,300 m, the height varies according to eruptions) and also one of the most impressive places in all of Sicily. It lies near the city of Catania, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you will visit it today by local bus. 

Since the volcano is still active, you can see smoke and fresh lava or hear rumbling - but visits are safely organized. It is also important to have suitable shoes and warmer clothing, as it can be cold up there even in summer.
