Imagine a weekend where you slow down and find yourself in Budapest – a city that smells of coffee, paprika, and history. In the morning, you wander through the narrow streets of the center, in the afternoon you can enjoy the view from Fisherman's Bastion over the Danube, and in the evening, relax in the thermal baths. Everything is close, but each place has its own atmosphere and story. Budapest is an ideal combination of relaxation, experiences, and good food that you won't forget – and this is just the beginning of what the city offers. Don't forget to download the BudapestGo app in advance, which will allow you to easily purchase public transport tickets, and you also need to purchase tickets for some monuments. More information at each location.
The first day is ideal for a slow introduction to Budapest. You'll walk around your accommodation in a lively neighborhood, where oriental atmosphere, cafes, and the aroma of street food mix. You'll taste local specialties and peek into the impressive Jewish synagogue, which is one of the most important in Europe. A day to just soak in the city.
The airport isn't very big and is very easily signposted. Follow the signs for the airport bus.
Upon arrival at the airport, take the bus directly in front of the airport. Bus 100E goes to the city center. The ticket can be easily purchased online via the BudapestGo application. Alternatively, you can wave down a taxi, but the airport bus works great and goes directly to the center. In the app, simply select 'airport shuttle bus single ticket'. It currently costs 2500 forints. Through the same application, you can then buy tickets for individual public transport rides, a 30-minute ticket, or a 90-minute ticket, or a day or three-day ticket - note that this does not apply to this airport special.
Take a walk on the monumental Károly krt. and turn into the smaller streets around it, soak up the atmosphere of the city, which cannot deny the monumental splendor of imperial Vienna or the oriental flair.

Take a walk through the alleys and walk to the restaurant. It's up to you how directly you go.
If you get hungry, I recommend visiting this place. Great food, nice service that creates an unforgettable atmosphere. Their specialty is chicken delicacies, but they can also handle some traditional Hungarian cuisine.

After the meal, I recommend a healthy walk through the Jewish Quarter towards the synagogue.
Check out the synagogue that has witnessed many historical milestones. If you want to take a peek inside, tickets can be bought in advance here. Also, remember to adjust your attire to be allowed inside. You should have your shoulders covered, and your clothing should not be unnecessarily provocative.

Complete the circuit by crossing over to the Wesselényi street area.
In the evening, enjoy the vibrant street that never sleeps. There are countless bars and restaurants in this area, you will surely find something that will please your eyes and taste buds.

Move to accommodation, again on foot.

Budapest in all its glory - from iconic landmarks to well-deserved relaxation. You'll see the monumental Parliament building towering over the Danube, and then indulge in relaxation at the thermal baths. In the evening, you'll be drawn into the unique atmosphere of the Szimpla Kert ruin bar, where history meets vibrant nightlife.
Take a walk from your accommodation through the beautiful streets of Budapest towards St. Stephen's Basilica. For me, it's enough to walk around and take pictures from the outside. Those who are fans of architecture and monumental churches can also visit the inside. Free tickets can be purchased here.

Stop at the site of a World War II tragedy. Especially in the years 1944-45, Jews were gathered here, forced to take off their shoes (they were valuable and could be reused) and then shot so that their bodies fell directly into the river. In memory of the crimes committed here, there is a monument that refers to the shoes that were taken off.

A pleasant walk along the water awaits you towards the Hungarian Parliament buildings.
The Hungarian Parliament Building is rightly considered the pride of the entire city. It is located on the Danube and the best view of it is from the other side of the river. You can also visit the interior of the parliament, but only with a guide. It is good to book this experience in advance here. Tickets are often sold out for the next few days, so it is good to think about booking in advance. Some days it is not possible to visit the parliament due to protocol reasons (exceptionally), but it is also good to check in advance. The square in front of the parliament is also filled with good restaurants and bars, so it is also a suitable stop for a bite to eat.

Next, head to the Király Thermal Bath. Budapest is famous for its spa tradition, so I recommend spending an afternoon here. Unfortunately, Király Bath is currently closed for renovation. If the spa is closed during your visit, you can replace it with the Lukacs Thermal Bath. It is only a 12-minute walk from Kiraly Bath. Tickets can be purchased online here.

It is quite possible that you will get hungry by the water, so I recommend this place to satisfy your hunger. It is a street full of caravans where you can buy both international cuisine and Hungarian specialties. Don't worry, they also have langos and goulash.

After a hearty dinner, I recommend experiencing something extraordinary in this bar. This bar is located in the ruins of a tenement house, and the owners have transformed it into a very unconventional sight. You can sit in an old jeep in the garden, in a room full of salvaged electronics, or even in a bathtub. I recommend going sooner rather than later, especially on weekends, as a line may form in front of the bar as the evening progresses.

You will head to the other bank of the Danube, where Budapest shows its most romantic face. You'll start at the fairytale Fisherman's Bastion with views of the city and continue to Buda Castle, from where you'll see Budapest at your fingertips. Then you will visit the largest local market, where you can buy souvenirs and taste another piece of Hungarian cuisine. A day full of views, tastes and the atmosphere of the old town.
You can easily reach the Fisherman's Bastion by metro and bus. Take the metro at Blaha Lujza Tér station (line M2), go two stops to Deák Ferenc tér. Here, transfer to bus number 216. Get on at the Budai Vár stop, go five stops, and get off at the Halaszbástya station. From there, it's a stone's throw to the Fisherman's Bastion. You can buy a ticket for the bus and metro (it's the same one) again via the Budapestgo app. The whole route can be walked, it will take you about forty-five minutes, but keep in mind that the end will be somewhat uphill.
Fisherman's Bastion is probably the most visually stunning structure in all of Budapest. Its slender, white towers reach up to the sky, offering a beautiful view of Pest on the other side of the river. If you want to see the inside, the easiest way is to buy tickets at the on-site ticket office; they also accept credit cards. But for me, a walk along the walls and the views are enough. That's free.

Not far from Fisherman's Bastion is the monumental Buda Castle. But for me, the most beautiful thing about it is the view from it to the other side of the river. Tickets can be purchased online here. There is also an underground area under the castle, where tours are given, as well as wine tastings and other events. The castle is surrounded by gardens. In front of the castle you will find the upper station of the cable car. Buy tickets at the ticket office upstairs and take a ride down below the castle.

This place will delight anyone who likes to indulge in some shopping. At the market you can find souvenirs, handicrafts, famous Hungarian products such as paprika or salami. You will also find several stalls with various goodies where you can eat very well.

If you're feeling hungry and fancy something special, I would recommend this cafe. They have great hot chocolates.

The last day of your trip is more of a slow farewell to Budapest. If you have time before your departure, enjoy brunch in one of the stylish cafes and soak up the atmosphere of the city one last time. Then have fun at the original Selfie Museum, and the rest of the day belongs to the journey home and a happy departure.
If you're looking for a place to soak up the last bit of atmosphere, this is definitely the right one. The cafe is beautiful and very photogenic.

A cute museum where every enthusiast for unconventional photos will have a blast.

You can get to the airport the same way you get from it. That is, by airport bus line number 100E. You can buy tickets again in the BudapestGo application. Ideally, you will get on at the Deák Ferenc Tér stop, but the bus has more stops, you can get on elsewhere.

Whether you leave full of experiences from viewpoints, cafes, or ruin bars, one thing is certain – Budapest will stay with you long after you return home.

Departure is from the same airport you arrived at. Remember to be at the airport at least 2 hours before departure.
