Your journey begins with arrival in Vilnius. Pick up your car and transfer to the hotel. If you have time left, go for your first acquaintance with the metropolis. Start by exploring the historical center, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can visit local restaurants to taste Lithuanian specialties. The national dish of Lithuania is cepelinai, large potato dumplings filled with minced meat, curd or mushrooms, served with cream and cracklings. I can also recommend bulviniai blynai, traditional Lithuanian potato pancakes, which are very similar to Czech bramborák.

In the capital of Lithuania. You will walk through the historical center (in 1994 inscribed on the UNESCO list) and visit a number of monuments. I was absolutely thrilled with Vilnius. The city is beautiful, clean and without the pressure of tourists. 

You will travel to Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania. The journey to Kaunas will take approximately 1.5 hours. If you feel like it, I recommend stopping in Rumšiškės on the way and visiting the open-air museum. On the shores of the Kaunas Reservoir (Kauno Marios), you will see original wooden buildings and learn how people lived in Lithuania in the past. In Kaunas, it is best to park directly at the castle, where there is a large parking lot. You pay for parking at the machine. Finally, allow approximately 2.5 hours at the end of the day to travel to Klaipeda on the coast.

In the morning, head to the ferry (New Ferry Terminal) where you can buy a ticket right before boarding. It is automatically purchased as a round trip. The ferry runs every 20 minutes during the season (spring - autumn) and is in operation constantly, 24/7. The journey takes approximately 5 minutes. The Curonian Spit peninsula with its sand dunes is often called the "Baltic Sahara" and you will visit the national park here. The Curonian Spit is rightfully a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the places in Lithuania that you must see. If you have time left, you can stop at the aquarium / dolphinarium, which is located at the very end of the spit not far from the ferry. And if you get sunny hot weather, don't forget to refresh yourself in the Baltic Sea.

Return to Vilnius. On the way, you will stop at the Hill of Crosses and the stunning Trakai Island Castle.

Before heading to the airport, you can still visit places you didn't manage to see in the first few days (if you have time before your departure).
