You will arrive at London Stansted Airport, where you will need to go through passport control; allow extra time. After passport control, head towards the bus station under the airport (you'll need to go through an underpass) and find your bus stop. The bus will take you to Stratford.
At the bus stop, you will go through an underpass near the airport exit.
London has one of the largest transport networks in Europe, but surprisingly, it is relatively easy to navigate (just be careful about the names of the last stations on the subway trains - I got caught out a few times at the beginning). London's public transport does not have fixed prices; the fare can vary depending on the zone you are travelling in, the time of day, and the type of transport. London has a so-called Daily Cap, or daily limit. This means that once you reach the daily limit, you can travel for free; the fare will never be higher than the limit. Each zone has a different limit set. The higher the zone, the higher the limit. For example, if you are travelling between zones 1-3, your Daily Cap will be £10. However, you must tap your card both when entering and exiting (the exception is the bus, where you only need to tap when entering). Also, make sure you tap with the same device - not your mobile phone when entering and your watch when exiting. I recommend using the Citymapper mobile app to find connections.
You can buy an Oyster Card for £7 from a vending machine at any tube station. You'll mostly be travelling between zones 1-3, so I recommend loading the card with £30 for 4 days (you can top it up if needed). Each person must have their own card; multiple people cannot travel on one card. You can top up the card at vending machines at any tube stop. You can see the credit balance when you tap the card at the exit or check it at the machines at the stop. The Daily Cap includes the tube, buses, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth line and National Rail services.
Before Stratford Westfield (shopping centre), buy an Oyster card from a machine and top it up (I recommend £30). Then take the tube to your accommodation. If you have time left over, go to London Bridge station, from where you can walk to Borough Market.
