Day 1
After arriving in Amman, the capital of Jordan, you’ll have the chance to exchange money at the airport (I recommend converting dollars to Jordanian dinars, JOD). Here, you’ll pick up your rental car and drive to the nearby picturesque town of Madaba.
Madaba is the Christian center of Jordan, home to numerous churches and historic buildings. The most visited is the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, which you can explore as well. Inside, you’ll find the famous Madaba Map, a 6th-century mosaic and the oldest map of the Holy Land (entrance: 1 JOD). If you still have time and energy, you can also visit the Archaeological Museum, with entry included in your Jordan Pass.
Day 2
Bethany (Al-Maghtas) is a site of immense historical and spiritual significance, believed to be the location where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. Visitors can explore the archaeological remains, including ancient baptismal pools, churches, and chapels, while soaking in the spiritual atmosphere of this sacred site.
After visiting Bethany, head to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth and a truly unique natural wonder. Its mineral-rich waters allow you to effortlessly float, and the therapeutic mud is famous for its skin benefits. The most famous sight is the Treasury (Al-Khazneh), revealed dramatically after walking through the narrow Siq, a winding gorge flanked by towering rock walls. Beyond the Treasury, you can explore the Monastery (Ad-Deir), the Royal Tombs, and countless other carved wonders.
