Do you want a holiday full of sun, sea and unforgettable adventures? Head to Malta, where not only golden beaches washed by azure waves await you, but also a fascinating culture that will be there at every turn! Will you enjoy swimming in the legendary Blue Lagoon with its crystal clear waters and dare to jump into the sea from the cliffs of St. Peter's Pool? This isn't just any seaside holiday - it's an adventure that will take your breath away!
If you have time and feel like exploring Malta today, set out to visit various places according to the plan for the first day. If you arrive in the evening or want to relax, head straight to your accommodation. If you have enough time, head to the capital of Malta immediately after arrival. You will discover the local culture and refresh yourself on the beach overlooking the city. End the whole day in a quiet bar.
The airport is like any other one far from the capital, so book a taxi right here and get yourself as close to the centre of the capital, Valletta, as possible.
Valletta is the capital of Malta. Despite being one of the smallest capitals in Europe, it was founded in 1566 by the Knights of Malta, for whom it was intended to serve as a defensive fortress. Some of the most famous sights you can see here include St. John's Cathedral, the Palace of the Grand Masters and Barracca Gardens.
The aforementioned cathedral is definitely worth a visit. The interior is decorated with rich frescoes, among which are works by the famous painter Caravaggio. Specifically, Saint John the Baptist and Saint Jerome.
Upper Barracca Gardens are one of the most famous and picturesque parks in Valletta, Malta. I recommend taking the time to walk through at least part of them. They also have beautiful views of, for example, the Valletta Waterfront and Fort Saint Angelo.
The whole capital city has beautiful streets, so just like us, you can walk to the next location and admire the sights. Soak up a bit of the atmosphere of the new place.
Next to the centre is a beautiful shipyard that begs to be explored.
This beach was recommended to us directly by locals. It's probably the closest to the centre and despite the fact that the water is not the clearest, it's great for refreshing on hot days, not only in summer. There is a beautiful view of the sights of the historic town on the shores all around.
I recommend to end the first day in this bar. We were very pleasantly surprised that the DJ was mixing music live directly from records. They also had some tasty drinks which we drank in peace overlooking the Valletta at night.
The evening walk to your accommodation goes right along the beach with a view of the city and the sea. If you've already had enough walking for today, just take a taxi.
If you don't manage to do something today, it doesn't matter at all, just save it for another day.
You'll enjoy dazzling views all day as you hike the coastline. You'll visit hidden and very popular beaches and have the chance to experience local boat transport.
After breakfast, we ordered an eCabs taxi, which took us across half the island to Golden Bay beach, next to the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands.
This beach was quite busy because of the people from the resort, so we went straight on our way. But if you don't mind, feel free to take a dip right here and freshen up for the journey ahead.
Our journey started right behind the beach, on rocky terrain that was a bit tricky to walk through, but the views were totally worth it. I recommend wearing sturdy shoes. We didn't even use navigation since there are tons of paths crisscrossing everywhere, but they all end up in more or less the same spot. If you need to, don't be afraid to turn on Google Maps to lead you to the next location.
On the way along the coast there is a tower, which you can't enter, but it is definitely worth a look at least from the outside.
This sandy beach is already bigger than Golden Bay and is definitely worth a closer look and a test of the water.
Beautiful photogenic place with a view of the sea and landscape all around. I recommend you to walk here wherever your eyes lead you and especially to look at the viewpoint on the peninsula (more specifically marked in google maps as viev point).
This place is just a short walk from Clay Cliffs and it would be a shame to miss it because of the views.
We found this small and cozy "beach" by accident, but I have to recommend it. The path may not look the most inviting, but then you'll be practically alone. Maybe with a few locals, but if you want somewhere to relax after the first two crowded beaches, this is it.
There are two ways to get to the next beach:
1) sea taxi - You can order a boat by phone and it will pick you up in a few minutes. This transport is provided by private companies mostly based on nearby beaches, so it's a good idea to look them up in advance.
2) on foot - This is once again a trip with beautiful views all around you
It's worth the time. It's got everything you could possibly need. Restaurants, toilets, beach, playground and a chance to go out to the view. You can also rent various water rides here at reasonable times.
A tower similar to the one the road led past at the beginning of the trip.
Just like this morning, take an eCabs taxi back to town now.
Who doesn't know Popeye the Sailor and has never heard of the clear water in the famous Blue Lagoon. Tonight, you'll see both of these places, and in the evening you'll head to the nightlife hub for culture.
There are regular bus connections to Popeye Village. There is a bus stop just a short walk from your accommodation that serves that route. You'll likely need to transfer once, but it's always best to check which buses are running at the time on Google Maps. You can, of course, take a taxi, but buses run all the time, so don't worry—you'll manage just fine.
Most of the Blue Lagoon cruise companies sail from this location. We personally bought our tickets on the spot at the ticket booth, but if you want to be sure, order your tickets online in advance. I specifically recommend from Comino Ferries Co-Op. Boats run to the island about every half hour during the season.
Blue Lagoon is one of the most beautiful and famous natural attractions in the country that you can't miss. It is located on the small island of Comino and is characterized by its clear water.
You will definitely spend a lot of time here, as we did, as there are refreshments, toilets. Just remember your headgear and lots of sunscreen, as there's really little shade.
If you get tired of swimming and exploring the opposite islet, take a walk around the island and enjoy the spectacular views.
As I mentioned walking around the island, this is one of the places you might be tempted to go. But if you go further, you won't get lost and you will discover other interesting places.
From the famous Blue Lagoon, you first have to get back to the main island of Malta. You can use the same boats that brought you here. They run regularly every few minutes, so don't worry about missing one.
From the coast, order an eCabs taxi again and set your final destination to the famous Saint Julians district. Specifically, try to get as close as possible to Paceville Piazza, where the nightlife is just around the corner.
The whole journey through the streets of St George's Road is well worth the walk. There is something for everyone. Whether it's clubs, bars, diners or pubs. Just nightlife as it should be.
If you're tired of crowds looking for fun, I recommend this bar in a quieter area. They have excellent drinks (perhaps the best piña colada we've had on the island), a lovely cosy terrace overlooking the night streets and friendly service.
Once you've finished your drink, dance, or dinner, just order a taxi back to your accommodation.
The last day you have to say goodbye to Malta in style! If you have time before your flight, take a swim in the famous St. Peter's Pool, and then it's time to head to the airport and fly home.
Take a taxi from your accommodation and have it drop you off as close to St. Peter's Pool as possible. Unfortunately, the path is very narrow and impractical, so you'll have to walk the rest of the way. The same applies for the trip back.
After Blue Lagoon, I would say the most beautiful beach in Malta. It's known not only for its clear water, but especially for its dramatic cliffs. There's something for everyone as there are places to jump in the water, go diving or just have a relaxing swim after sunbathing.
The only downside for us here were the jellyfish, which we were not expecting at all.
You can and you don't have to. Unfortunately we didn't make it, but we would have loved to say goodbye to Malta with these breathtaking views.
The last ride by a local eCabs taxi straight to the airport.
Remember to be at the airport at least 2/3 hours before departure.

You can and you don't have to. Unfortunately we didn't make it, but we would have loved to say goodbye to Malta with these breathtaking views.
The last ride by a local eCabs taxi straight to the airport.
Remember to be at the airport at least 2/3 hours before departure.
