With a good breakfast we head to the other side of Lake Ohrid to almost the Albanian border. Our destination is the monastery of St. Naum dating from the 10th century. Lake Ohrid itself is called the "Macedonian Sea" by the locals. And rightly so. Therefore, if the weather is good, we will stop at one of the beaches on the way back to see for ourselves. In the early evening we will visit the town of Ohrid itself. The picturesque streets by the lake of the same name, the churches and the view of the town itself and the lake with the local fortress will be the highlight of this day. In the evening return to the hotel, dinner.

Basic Information

  • We leave from Prague on Thursday "after work" at 6.00 pm and from Brno at 8.30 pm 
  • This year's dates include public holidays, in spring we go over Easter and in autumn over 28.10., and you will save your holidays thanks to this.
  • We'll stay the first night in Skopje, and sleep in the same hotel the remaining three nights - thanks to the "starfish" style of trips, we'll use the same facilities without the stressful marathon of packing and unpacking
  • While staying in Ohrid, breakfast and dinner are included in the tour price
  • You will always be accompanied by a Czech guide

Accommodation

Accommodation in Skopje and at Lake Ohrid will be provided in 3* or 4* hotels. We do not specify a specific hotel, but you can look forward to a pleasant accommodation.


Diet

The tour price includes 4× breakfast and 3× dinner. Breakfasts are served buffet style, dinners can be served buffet style. Drinks are not included. North Macedonia is a cheap destination. If you like wine, we recommend trying a glass of excellent local wine with dinner.


Transport

Bus transport is provided by modern comfortable buses. These are air-conditioned, equipped with toilet and TV. You can buy hot and chilled drinks during the journey, including beer. Experienced drivers ensure a pleasant and trouble-free journey. The route leads from the Czech Republic through Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia to our destination, Northern Macedonia. The starting points are - Bratislava, Brno, Břeclav, Humpolec, Jihlava, Prague and Velké Meziříčí. If you need to board in Olomouc or Ostrava, please contact us.


Depending on weather or traffic, it is possible that the scheduled program will be changed. A change of program means that we may not visit some of the mentioned places at all. However, our team will do its best to ensure that you do not miss anything.

In the afternoon we will arrive in the capital of Northern Macedonia, Skopje. Depending on the time of arrival, we will either check in first or take a guided tour of the city centre and check in afterwards. Skopje has changed a lot in the last decade. We will show you the modernised squares and representative buildings.

Matka

After breakfast we will head to Lake Matka, as the Macedonians call this body of water. In Czech, however, we would correctly translate the name as dam. The green surrounding landscape combined with the water surface of the lake conjures up a beautiful view of the "canyon". The Church of St. Andrew, situated on the shore of the lake, is just the right sight to make you think that Northern Macedonia is worth it. After visiting the Mother, we head towards Lake Ohrid. Then we move to the hotel, check in and have dinner.

With a good breakfast we head to the other side of Lake Ohrid to almost the Albanian border. Our destination is the monastery of St. Naum dating from the 10th century. Lake Ohrid itself is called the "Macedonian Sea" by the locals. And rightly so. Therefore, if the weather is good, we will stop at one of the beaches on the way back to see for ourselves. In the early evening we will visit the town of Ohrid itself. The picturesque streets by the lake of the same name, the churches and the view of the town itself and the lake with the local fortress will be the highlight of this day. In the evening return to the hotel, dinner.

This part of the program will be a surprise from our guide. We can only tell you that we will go to unspoiled nature and mountain scenery. We're going to walk through the mountains. And if you don't want to walk, we'll offer an alternative program. In the evening we will return to our hotel in Ohrid and have dinner.

We enjoy our last hotel breakfast and head towards the Czech Republic. But our adventure doesn't end on the final day either. We'll make our return trip more interesting with a stop at a winery. We'll see the production, the places where the wine is stored and talk about wine. And if you want, you can enjoy a tasting - of course again with interpretation and Czech translation. And then we will cross Serbia and Hungary.
