This trip is for girls who aren't afraid to travel solo, because they know the best things happen when you're not tied down. For those who pack their own bags, choose their own way, and don't wait for someone to join them. This route will take you to northern Thailand, but it won't take you the tourist shortcut. It will show you powerful places, stylish cities, nature with a rhythm, and silence that truly does something. You'll experience Thai boxing and a sunset over a canyon, cross a bamboo bridge, sample street food, work out, and slow down. In the morning, you'll have coffee in a cafe that looks like a gallery, and in the evening you'll watch the sunset at a temple that isn't photographed, but remembered. This trip is a mix. Energy and calm. Movement and pause. Wilderness, design, city, wellness, views, rituals, and unplanned moments that are just right. It's not a tour, it's an experience designed with a sense of pace, safety, and style. With room to speed up and slow down. Discover something about the world and maybe something about yourself. And return with the feeling that this is exactly what you needed.
Arriving in Chiang Rai is like opening a door to a different pace, but this day isn't just about rest. If you're drawn to movement and still have energy after your journey to experience something more, the city offers more than just a peaceful welcome. Gardens spread under the open sky invite free-flowing thoughts, and the night market lights up the evening with uncompromising colours. You can simply watch, shop, sample tastes, or just observe the city coming alive. It's a beginning you set yourself – gently, or full throttle.
Grab works reliably and simply – like a local version of Uber. You can order a car, motorcycle, or larger vehicle as needed. Motorcycles are fast and cheap, and drivers usually have a helmet for you too.
Cars are comfortable for longer trips or with more luggage. Just enter your destination, confirm, and they usually arrive within a few minutes. Prices are fair, and the app shows the route and estimated arrival time. It's the ideal way to get anywhere without negotiating.
A place that feels like an escape to another world. Surrounded by lush tropical greenery, sculptures, ponds, and stone temples, it resembles a movie scene more than a classic cafe. Every detail has an atmosphere, the space is photogenic, yet calm. You can have coffee, dessert or a smoothie and just observe the surroundings, or enjoy a massage right there. An ideal combination of aesthetics, relaxation and a light wow effect.
A market where you can find absolutely everything. From cool local clothing and souvenirs to unique items you won't find anywhere else. A favorite tip: Trea's stall, where you can choose your own passport cover design, including your name or a symbol. In the middle of the market is a food court worth stopping by – and if you're brave enough, definitely try the fried insects. Surprisingly good and definitely an unforgettable experience.

The day begins at a place you can't miss. The White Temple is one of the most striking symbols of Northern Thailand, and in person it's even more intense than in photos. Every detail is meaningful, and the whole structure won't let you leave easily. You continue to the Blue Temple, which is calmer but has its own power. Then the city calls for a free walk, without plans, just following your mood, among cafes, local stalls, and whatever catches your attention. In the evening, you'll have a sunset view at the Big Buddha, where the city quietly fades away. And if it's Saturday, you don't go to sleep – the Saturday night market transforms the street into a vibrant place.
The White Temple in Chiang Rai is one of the most iconic temples in Thailand, looking more like something from another world than reality. The entire complex is dazzlingly white, adorned with mirrors and symbolism that combines Thai tradition with modern art. It opens at 8:00 am, and it's really worth arriving early in the morning to avoid the crowds and have a chance to enjoy it peacefully. The main temple is traversed in one direction only, so it's impossible to go back, stop again, or take another photo – what you miss, you miss. The complex also houses the so-called Golden Temple, which is less known but definitely worth a visit. In contrast to the white glow of the main temple, it acts as a calm golden treasure, forming a great conclusion to the entire visit.
The Blue Temple in Chiang Rai is a place that will surprise you at first glance. The temple is entirely in a deep blue color, adorned with golden details, and appears both traditional and modern. The atmosphere here is more relaxed than at the White Temple; there are fewer crowds, and you can enjoy the space and details more calmly. Inside, you will find a brightly white Buddha statue, which contrasts beautifully with the dark blue walls, and the entire interior has a special calmness that almost stops you in your tracks. There is no entrance fee, but it's nice to have something prepared as a voluntary contribution.
Wat Huay Pla Kang is a temple that captivates from afar thanks to the giant statue of the seated goddess of mercy that towers over the landscape. The entire complex is spacious, peaceful, and much less touristy than the more famous temples in the vicinity, giving it a special atmosphere. An elevator leads to the statue, so you can get to the top and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains and city. In addition, you will find a nine-story pagoda and traditional temple halls, all clean, colorful, and with attention to detail. The best time to visit is in the evening, when the light changes and the whole place acquires a special tranquility.
Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is an evening market with its own unique atmosphere, definitely worth a visit, but it only takes place on Saturdays. You'll find local street food, from Thai noodles to grilled bananas, as well as clothing, handmade souvenirs, and little trinkets you won't see anywhere else. The area is well-organized, safe, and friendly, making it comfortable to stroll around even solo. In the center of the bazaar, there's often live music or traditional dances, giving the whole place a pleasant local vibe. It's the ideal way to end the day, whether you want to try something new, buy a souvenir, or simply sit down at a table among the locals and soak up the evening atmosphere of the city.

Before dawn, you set off on a short hike to a spot that, in good weather, offers a breathtaking view that will stay with you forever – Thailand and Laos beneath you, the day just beginning, and you're already ahead. After returning, the journey south awaits, but it too has its highlights. A stop at the waterfalls will refresh the pace and remind you of the diversity of the landscape between the two cities. Chiang Mai welcomes you with a different energy; the evening begins with a visit to a temple, which exudes tranquility even under the evening sky, and ends where travelers from all over the world meet. A local establishment with a relaxed atmosphere, great music, and a cocktail in hand will remind you that even solo evenings can be full of connection, stories, and unexpected moments.
It's best to head to Phu Chi Fa at four in the morning so you can reach the summit before sunrise, when the place has the most magic. You can book a driver directly through your accommodation or simply via the Grab app, where you can often find local drivers who are used to taking travelers on this route. Ideally, arrange for one driver for the whole day, who will take you to the waterfalls on the way back after sunrise and finally drop you off in Chiang Mai. The price can be negotiated individually and is usually simple and fair.
Phu Chi Fa is one of the most famous viewpoints in Northern Thailand, mainly worth visiting for the sunrise. You can park directly at the trail entrance, where there is a small parking lot and a few refreshment stalls. The climb to the top takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes; it's an easy trail manageable even with average fitness. The path leads between green hills, and at the top, you'll be rewarded with an iconic view of the sea of mist, mountains, and the border with Laos. It's best to set off before dawn and be at the top before sunrise, when the whole landscape has a magical atmosphere, and the light slowly reveals the layers of mountains and misty valleys.
Sticky Waterfalls, also known as Bua Tong Waterfalls, are one of those places that surprise you with the experience itself. You can actually climb up and down them, because the limestone deposits make the surface non-slippery, even when water is flowing. They are fun, refreshing, and unlike anything you've tried before. Entrance is free, and there are also small facilities with refreshments where you can get something quick, like the popular mango sticky rice. It's an ideal stop on the way to Chiang Mai.
Wat Lok Moli is a peaceful, lesser-known temple in Chiang Mai with a beautiful atmosphere and traditional Lanna architecture. It's located just outside the old city and feels more personal than the more famous temples nearby. For a small fee, you can write your wish on a wooden plaque, hang it in the temple, and symbolically send it out into the world. The complex also includes a tower where you can send a bottle of water using a rope system as part of a local ritual. The place is quiet, authentic, and ideal for a moment of pause and your own little ritual in the middle of the city.
It’s Good Kitchen is an unassuming but excellent restaurant in Chiang Mai that maintains its reputation thanks to honest food, a friendly atmosphere, and fair prices. You'll find traditional Thai cuisine in a very clean, simple, and peaceful environment. The staff are friendly and happy to advise on choices, so even if you come alone, you'll feel welcome. An ideal place for dinner after a day full of experiences, when you want to eat well, not waste time searching, and at the same time enjoy something that tastes like it's from a Thai grandmother.
Zoe in Yellow is a legendary Chiang Mai nightspot, known to anyone who's spent a while in the city. It's an open-air bar complex in the heart of the old town, where the evening really comes alive. They play everything from EDM to reggae, the drinks are cheap, there are tons of people, and the atmosphere is super relaxed. The ideal place if you're in the mood for a party, want to meet other travelers, and unwind after a quiet day. You'll arrive alone and leave knowing half the people at the next table.

The day starts intensely, but under the guidance of professionals – you'll have a private Thai boxing lesson at an authentic Muay Thai camp, where you'll quickly discover it's not just about strength, but also concentration and rhythm. After training, there's a change of scenery, and the energy will spill over into the nearby forest, where a temple stands hidden among the trees. A walk through the city upon your return offers time just for yourself, whether you choose a massage, a quick manicure, or just aimless wandering. You'll end the day at the table – dinner will take you to an unassuming restaurant considered one of the best by the locals. And the evening? Back to the ring, this time just as a spectator. Live Thai boxing is an experience that has dynamism, atmosphere, and everything a good evening should have.

Wat Pha Lat is a monastery hidden in the jungle on the slope of Doi Suthep mountain and is one of the most magical places around Chiang Mai. It's not a typical temple, but rather a peaceful sanctuary surrounded by trees, waterfalls, and statues emerging directly from nature. You can get here via the so-called Monk’s Trail – an easy hike that starts a short distance from the city and takes about 45 minutes. The whole place has a quiet, almost meditative atmosphere and is ideally suited for a slow morning or afternoon when you want to switch off, slow down and be completely away from the city bustle for a while.
Chiang Mai is a city that has everything you love about Thailand, but in a calmer, more stylish, and more compact package. Surrounded by mountains and enclosed by ancient walls, it has a historic center full of temples and narrow streets, but at the same time, there are plenty of modern cafes, design restaurants, small concept stores, wellness studios, and traditional spas. It's an ideal base for exploring Northern Thailand and for moments when you just want to eat well, slow down, and be in a place that has soul and style.

If you're craving an extra dose of morning energy, you can start your day with a Muay Thai workout. Then it's on to Pai, a small green town that retains its unique atmosphere. It's not a classic mountain hideaway, but rather a place with a relaxed pace, a slightly bohemian spirit, and a special kind of calm that never gets boring. You'll visit a bamboo bridge and a temple in the middle of the fields, stroll along the river and through the town center, where local cafes, small shops, and galleries create a space where time flows differently. If you feel like it, you can slow down even more – perhaps with some water tubing, where all you have to do is sit back and let the current carry you. Pai doesn't rush; Pai invites you to slow down with it.

In the morning, you'll head back to Chiang Mai, but this day isn't just about travel. If Muay Thai has truly captivated you, you can enjoy another private lesson and take your skills further. If you feel like a walk, Benjakitti Park in the heart of the city offers peaceful paths around lakes, skyline views, and much-needed slowing down. You can end the day exactly as you want – in silence, with a view, or with thoughts of what's to come. This is a full stop that makes sense.
Benjakitti Park is a green oasis in the heart of Bangkok that will surprise you with its peace, cleanliness, and perfectly maintained paths. It's ideal for a morning run, an afternoon stroll, or just a moment of quiet amidst the city's hustle and bustle. The park is surrounded by ponds, cycle paths, and views of modern skyscrapers, making you feel like you're in another world without leaving the center. Whether you feel like exercising or just want to sit and relax, this place has the right balance between nature and the city.
For the return trip to the airport, it's best to use the Airport Rail Link, which will reliably take you directly to Suvarnabhumi Airport without the risk of getting stuck in traffic. The trains run frequently, the route is clear and fast, and the price is reasonable. It's ideal to be at the airport at least three hours before departure, especially if you have checked baggage or are flying with an international company. With the train and a good time buffer, your departure will be smooth.
Remember to be at the airport at least 3 hours before departure.
It was a journey that began with one backpack, an open mind, and the courage to say yes to things that weren't predictable. Every day looked different, but it all fell into place. Mornings with a view, afternoons on the move, evenings with sunsets or drinks with people I didn't know before. Northern Thailand surprised me. It offered a pace that doesn't rush, experiences that don't fade, and moments that aren't taken by an algorithm, but remain. And even though I set off alone, I was never really alone. Thailand is full of people who travel solo, just like you. People from different corners of the world who met exactly where they weren't supposed to meet, but it still made sense. Coffee that stretched into dinner. A hike that turned into a friendship. People who understand why you travel your way. This isn't the end. Just the last page of one chapter that I'll want to reopen anytime. And maybe, in time, add another one.

It's an ideal base for exploring Northern Thailand and for moments when you just want to eat well, slow down, and be in a place that has soul and style.

It is located directly on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and combines the modern world of designer boutiques with Thai culture and design. Inside you will find not only hundreds of shops, but also art installations, a gallery, a water show and a beautiful indoor "floating market", where you can taste Thai street food specialties in an elegant setting. A place where you can shop, have coffee and a cultural break.
But what you definitely shouldn't miss is the upper terrace with rooftop restaurants, an ideal place for dinner under the open sky. The views of illuminated Bangkok, the peaceful atmosphere and the excellent cuisine make ICONSIAM an ideal end to the day. Simply choose one of the restaurants upstairs, sit outside and enjoy the city from a different perspective.
Lebua at State Tower is an iconic rooftop bar in Bangkok, captivating you with its river and city views. Famous from the movie The Hangover II, it offers an uncompromising luxurious atmosphere. Here, you'll enjoy a drink in hand, postcard-perfect views, and the feeling of being part of a different league for a while. Be aware of their strict dress code – definitely don't come in slippers or sportswear. Prices are higher than elsewhere, but here you're mainly paying for the experience, the view, and the service that will bring your evening to a perfect end.

Today is time to say goodbye, but even the last day can be pleasant and belong only to you. If you have an afternoon flight, there's still room for a calm morning at your own pace. You can go for a massage, enjoy some hair wellness, or just sit over coffee in a place with style and atmosphere – perhaps Nana Coffee Roasters in Ari, where great coffee meets clean design and quiet detail.

This day is all about discovering a city that never sleeps and never gets boring. You can start the morning with a river cruise that shows you Bangkok from a different perspective, and continue by visiting temples that maintain their peace and strength even in this metropolis. Then it's time for something unexpected – Bangkok is full of cafes that combine style, creativity, and a bit of madness. You can choose whether to stop among huskies, capybaras, or in a rainbow world of unicorns. The afternoon will take you to local markets full of flavors, scents, and inspiration. The evening is filled with the rhythm of lights – you'll cross the river in a small shuttle and walk to one of the largest shopping centers in Asia. End the day with dinner overlooking the river, and if you fancy a drink, head to a place known even to those who have seen The Hangover. And here you are – in Bangkok, the way it should be.
Sathorn Pier is the best starting point if you want to experience Bangkok from the water and visit the most famous temples without traffic jams and chaos. From here, the Chao Phraya Express Boat departs, preferably with an orange flag, which stops at all major locations.
You can buy the ticket directly on the spot in cash from the staff or at the ticket office, there is no need to book anything in advance. Get on the boat and get off at Tha Tien station (N8), from where it is only a few steps to Wat Pho – the Temple of the Reclining Buddha.
Wat Pho is literally across the road from Tha Tien pier and is one of the oldest and most respected temples in Thailand. The biggest star is the giant reclining Buddha statue, 46 meters long, which completely absorbs you as you enter the main hall. But the complex is much larger and it's worth exploring beyond the main path; you'll see the school of traditional Thai massage, courtyards with hundreds of statues, and beautiful architecture in quieter corners. An ideal place for a bit of peace and history all in one.

From there, you can take a small ferry across the river for a few baht to the other side to Wat Arun, which will amaze you with its height and mosaics.
Wat Arun, known as the Temple of Dawn, is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bangkok. Its central prang – a tall tower adorned with porcelain and mosaics – sparkles in the sun, changing colors throughout the day. The best time to visit is either early morning or just before sunset, when the temple glows in warm hues and is less crowded. You can easily get there by ferry from the opposite river bank near Tha Tien pier; the trip takes only a few minutes and costs a few baht. Climbing the tower is a bit of a workout, but the view of the city and river is definitely worth it.

After the tour, you will return to N8 in the same way, and from there you can walk to the Grand Palace. The route runs along the river, is marked, and is safe.
The Grand Palace is the most magnificent complex in Bangkok and formerly served as the King's residence. It's a short, safe, and well-marked walk from Wat Pho. Inside, you'll find stunning pavilions, golden chedis, intricate murals, and the famous Emerald Buddha. The area is vast, so allow plenty of time and be prepared for the dress code – covered shoulders and knees are required. Arrive early in the day to beat the crowds. Grand, formal, yet visually breathtaking.

The entire complex is mainly focused on clothing and accessories at wholesale prices, so the more you buy, the better the deal. The building has several floors, each with a slightly different focus, from women's fashion to men's clothing and sections with handbags, jewelry, or sportswear. It's ideal to arrive with comfortable shoes and time – it can easily take you the whole afternoon. On the upper floors, there's also a smaller food court where you can have some Thai food or just a quick coffee and return to the racks.
Bangkok is a paradise for café enthusiasts and creative souls, a city full of businesses that are not just about coffee, but about the experience. You'll find playful, aesthetic, and completely surreal cafes here. Whether you're in the mood for a rainbow fairy tale, animal therapy, or just looking for something unconventional for your itinerary, here are a few tips that are definitely worth a visit. You can choose according to what you need – a dose of cuteness, calm, or a bit of chaos.
Unicorn Café is a place where fantasy becomes reality – the entire space is covered in pastel colors, plush toys, and glitter, and everything, including the food and drinks, is matched to a rainbow aesthetic. You can borrow a unicorn onesie, order a rainbow cupcake or a colorful milkshake, and just enjoy a world that feels like a sugar dream. Reservations can be made via their Instagram @unicorncafe_bangkok, or you can stop by directly, but it's better to book in advance on weekends.

Husky Café is designed for lovers of fluffy energy – you'll meet a pack of husky dogs here that you can cuddle, photograph and spend time with in an air-conditioned space that suits them. The café operates on time slots, so you are guaranteed space and access to all dog friends. In addition, a selection of drinks and cakes, and suddenly you are in a world where blue eyes and wagging tails are watching you. Reservations can be made directly via the website huskycafe.com or their Instagram @trueloveneverland.
Capybara Café is a calmer option where you can meet real capybaras – the world's largest rodents, who are incredibly enjoying the Thai climate. The café is designed to make both animals and guests feel comfortable, so you can sit with an iced coffee and watch the capybaras roll in the water, sleep in the shade, or lazily come to look at your table. It's not a show, but a peaceful coexistence. You can make a reservation via their Instagram @capybaracafe.bkk, ideally a day or two in advance.

ICONSIAM is one of the most luxurious shopping malls in Bangkok, which is also an experience in itself.

It's an ideal base for exploring Northern Thailand and for moments when you just want to eat well, slow down, and be in a place that has soul and style.

Platinum Fashion Mall is one of the largest shopping malls in Bangkok, where you can find literally everything – from fashion items and accessories to cosmetics and footwear. The entire complex is mainly focused on clothing and accessories at wholesale prices, so the more you buy, the better the deal. You'll find hundreds of small boutiques with items you won't see in regular stores, including Korean style, Thai design, and basic items suitable for travel and home.
