We will explore stunning waterfalls, towering mountains🗻, the iconic Diamond Beach💎, and the awe-inspiring glaciers and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon🧊. This trip is for everyone—no need to worry about age or fitness level 😎, as we will take it easy with no strenuous hikes. We will move at a relaxed pace, giving you plenty of time to capture amazing photos. In the evenings, we will unwind over a drink☕️🍷, sharing stories while keeping an eye out for the Northern Lights💚. Having visited Iceland many times, I am always in awe of its untamed beauty. We will meet at the airport, pick up the cars 🚙 and go to our accommodation.
After breakfast we will go to the waterfalls. There are several along the way, both touristic and less visited.
Our first stop on the way will be the famous Seljalandsfoss.
Skógafoss is a "must see". Although it is one of the most visited, its majesty will amaze you. We will definitely stop here, and if the sun shines ☀️, we might even see a beautiful rainbow 🌈!
Near the Skógafoss waterfall there is a hidden treasure Kvernufoss. Compared to Skógafoss, there are much less people here and we can look directly behind the waterfall 😎! The green vegetation on the cliff surrounding the waterfall adds to its beauty.
Before we settle in the town of Vík, we will stop at the Dyrhólaey cliffs. From the cliffs, we will have the beautiful black sand beach at our fingertips and stunning views in all directions. The narrow rock wall with an arch, is also called the 'Gateway of Iceland’.
It is perhaps the most famous and dangerous beach on Islande🇮🇸 ⚠️. Reynisfjara is famous for its tricky "Sneaker Waves" 🌊, dangerous waves that can quickly creep up on the shore without warning. It's also one of the most photographed places thanks to its black volcanic beach and impressive basalt columns. Reynisdrangar rock towers are shaped like sharp spikes and tower at the end of the black sand beach. The highest rock spire is 66 m high. The formations are also known as Troll Rocks.

As we head southeast, we will make a stop at the picturesque Lomagnúpur mountain. Along the way, we will likely encounter Icelandic horses🐴, and we will take plenty of photos of these beautiful animals😍
Svínafellsjökull is probably my favorite glacier❄️🧊—it’s just a short walk away and unbelievably photogenic. If you have a drone and the weather cooperates, you can capture its beauty from a stunning bird’s-eye view. We’ll have the option to photograph the glacier from a nearby hill or right from the lagoon itself, getting incredibly close to this magnificent natural wonder.
Today, we will visit the world-famous Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where striking blue icebergs🧊 break off from the glacier and drift towards the black sands of Diamond Beach💎. The lagoon offers breathtaking scenery, and we can enjoy a small snack or a hot drink near the car park☕️. It’s also a prime spot to see seals🦭🦭 and, if we’re lucky, the Northern Lights. Vatnajökull National Park🗻, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounds us with its majestic landscapes.
Diamond Beach will surely take your breath away. It's not called Diamond Beach for nothing - the ice chunks are beautifully shaped and clear as diamonds. We will have them at our fingertips 💎.
On the way between the diamond beach and the town of Höfn we can come across reindeer and horses 🐴. In Höfn, we can shop for groceries or go out for dinner together. At night we will hunt for the Northern Lights.
In the morning we will go to sunrise on the Stokksnes peninsula with its black sand dunes and the majestic Vestrahorn mountain.
We will have the chance to visit an ice cave❄️🧊 and walk on the glacier with an experienced guide (weather permitting—this activity is not included in the price). The guide will handle transportation, provide helmets and crampons, and arrange for us to enter the cave during a quieter, less busy time. These ice caves change each season, with colours ranging from vibrant blue to shades of brown and black, often tinted by volcanic ash. We will come away with stunning photos and unforgettable memories! 🥳😎
These caves are incredibly unique, but they are melting rapidly, and sadly, they may disappear in just a few years. For those who prefer not to join the ice cave tour, you can spend your time exploring the beauty of Diamond Beach or Jökulsárlón Lagoon.

Our first stop will be the glacial lagoon Fjallsárlón, not far from the more famous Jökulsárlón lagoon. It is less visited, but the interesting "heart 💙" shape of the glacier makes it a place I always like to stop at.
On the way, we will stop at the photogenic Hofskirkja⛪️, a charming grass-roofed church with its quaint graveyard. Built in 1884 and renovated in the 1950s, it’s one of the few remaining turf churches in Iceland and still serves the local parishioners today.
Near the town of Vík we visit another "hidden gem" - Gígjagjá or Yoda Cave✨Who wouldn't want to take a selfie in this iconic cave? 😎
We will take pictures of the local church ⛪️. In the town of Vík we have the opportunity to shop for groceries 🍌🍞🧀 and souvenirs or go for a delicious soup served in lava bread 🥣🌋.
After breakfast we will drive towards Golden Circle with stops for photos along the way.
First, we will stop at the volcanic crater Kerið 🌋, which was formed about 3,000 years ago following a volcanic collapse, giving it an amphitheater-like shape. At the bottom of the crater there is a stunning lake with beautiful turquoise water. You can walk along a trail that encircles the perimeter and rim of the crater, or descend into the crater to reach the lake.
Our next stop will be Gullfoss 💧, the so-called Golden Waterfall, cascading into a deep canyon. It is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland and the most powerful in Europe. It’s just a short walk from the parking lot.
This morning, we will visit the famous Strokkur geyser and wait for several eruptions—typically every 6-8 minutes. It starts with a blue bubble and then, to the cheers of onlookers, shoots boiling water up to 20-35 meters in the air. While waiting for this spectacular natural show, we must be careful about where we stand. If the wind blows in our direction, we might get soaked like drowned rats 😄🐭🚿.
Brúarfoss is often referred to as the bluest waterfall in Iceland. Its striking colour makes it one of the most photogenic waterfalls in Iceland.

Our next stop will be Gullfoss 💧, the so-called Golden Waterfall, cascading into a deep canyon. It is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland and the most powerful in Europe. It’s just a short walk from the parking lot.
This morning, we will visit the famous Strokkur geyser and wait for several eruptions—typically every 6-8 minutes. It starts with a blue bubble and then, to the cheers of onlookers, shoots boiling water up to 20-35 meters in the air. While waiting for this spectacular natural show, we must be careful about where we stand. If the wind blows in our direction, we might get soaked like drowned rats 😄🐭🚿.
Brúarfoss is often referred to as the bluest waterfall in Iceland. Its striking colour makes it one of the most photogenic waterfalls in Iceland.
