Your compass points southwest and you head for your first accommodation. From a distance you see Ragusa perched on a hill and your heart immediately leaps: You can't wait to walk the streets of the old town, take in the view of the surrounding countryside and find the best place for your first dinner in the land of pizza and pasta. Fancy something typically Sicilian? Then order pasta alla Norma and enjoy it!

You've probably already noticed that Ragusa has two faces: On the hill you will find the geometrically arranged Ragusa Superiore. From here you'll get a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountainous landscape - and of Ragusa Ibla, the historic centre of the city with its magnificent Baroque buildings and winding streets. You could get lost forever, but your rental car is waiting to take you on a trip to the east coast. Your destination is the picturesque seaside town of Marzamemi. You wander through narrow old streets bathed in warm sunlight, at the end of which you see the blue dot of the Ionian Sea. The air tastes of salt and old times, and the colourful boats of Sicilian fishermen bob in the harbours, offering you photogenic scenery you've never dreamed of. An absolute must-do: take a picture of the blue chairs of the restaurants in Piazza Regina Margherita!

A roadtrip along the endless Mediterranean coast of Sicily, full of stops that could easily come from a fairy tale - that's what your daily plan looks like! Halfway along the southern coast of Sicily, you'll stop in Agrigento in the "Valley of the Temples", a true UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk among the ruins and admire the almost perfectly preserved Temple of Concordia. Want to know more about this historic site? Then join a tour of the ancient site (optional, bookable in advance online). Before you head to the day's destination of Castelvetrano, there's an absolute must-see on your itinerary: the Scala dei Turchi on the coast in front of Agrigento. The snow-white, terraced cliff dropping over the turquoise sea is the perfect spot for a selfie!

Get up and get outdoors! What better place to spend a day in the middle of the Sicilian countryside than the Zingaro Nature Reserve? The area stretches for seven kilometres along the coast between Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo, which also serve as entrances to the reserve (entrance fees payable locally). The whole area is hilly to mountainous and offers hidden beaches, caves and typical Mediterranean flora and fauna! On the various hiking trails you can immerse yourself in the mountain idyll and enjoy breathtaking views or discover small coves promising refreshing swimming. Whichever way you choose, after an effort you will be drawn to the beach of San Vito Lo Capo. Crystal clear water, the sun shining in a bright blue sky and soft sand underfoot - that's how you imagine the perfect Italian beach holiday!

One building more splendid than the other: this is how Palermo, the capital of Sicily, presents itself. You grab your camera and immediately dive into the bustling city. You take your first photos in Quattro Canti, the square where two historic streets meet with four identical-looking Baroque facades. Next door, you'll find the beautiful marble fountain of Fontana Pretoria. Gelato in hand, you'll take a close look at each of the many marble statues before heading to the symbol of the city: the Palermo Cathedral. The view from the outside alone will amaze you! Hungry after so many sights? Then head to the Ballarò market! Colourful, noisy, chaotic - and authentically Sicilian. You'll find fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood and countless street food stalls - try it all!

Of course, you can't leave Sicily without visiting Italy's most famous volcano. Our tip: Join an organised climb (optional, can be booked in advance or on site)! After all, the climb up Etna is treacherous in many places and you can't get to all areas without a mountain guide anyway. Then the adventure can begin: you climb through lava fields to dizzying heights. Keep an eye on the crater. On the way back to your hotel, you'll stop in Taormina. You'll not only be enchanted by the fabulous views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea, but you'll also be drawn into its magic by the magnificent historic buildings. Your perfect selfie spot: the ancient theatre, whose remains and stage columns form the perfect frame for the blue sea!

The day of parting has come. It's time to say goodbye, or rather: Arrivederci! On the plane heading home, you immediately open the photo app on your phone, because you can't quite separate yourself from your new favourite country yet. You're comforted by one thought: that you'll be telling your friends and family about your adventure and reliving your entire journey!
