From the summit of Mittaggüpfi, a well-marked circular route takes you back to the Eigenthal valley, safely leading you back to the starting point at the parking lot. From the summit, begin your descent along the same route you ascended, heading back along the ridge. Once you descend from the summit area and re-enter the grassy and wooded sections, follow the hiking signs indicating the return to Eigenthal. The route is moderately challenging, with the descent taking approximately two hours, depending on your pace and the terrain, which can be rocky or slippery in places, especially after rain. The path is marked with red and white hiking signs that safely guide you all the way back. Upon returning to the forest, follow the signs indicating Eigenthal Talboden or Parkplatz Eigenthal.
This mountain inn, tucked away just above the main trail in the Alps above Eigenthal, is perfect for a well-deserved rest. In a pleasant atmosphere surrounded by nature, with a summer terrace and views of the green valley, you can enjoy honest home-cooked food and a refreshing drink as a reward for your mountain day after a long hike.
Today is dedicated to a peaceful return and farewell to the Swiss adventure. After several days spent in the mountainous landscape full of views, movement and unforgettable experiences, it's time to move back to the airport and head home.
Before departure, you need to return the rented car – make sure you refuel according to the terms of your contract and return the car to the designated rental location, ideally on time, so you can manage everything calmly. It is recommended to be at the airport at least three hours before departure, especially if you are returning a car and have to check in your luggage. After returning the car, simply follow the signs to the departure hall, where you can enjoy the last moments with a view of the planes and perhaps even the Alpine peaks in the distance.
This trip offered a unique mix of adventure, nature, and Swiss serenity. You discovered peaks like Tomlishorn and Mittaggüpfi, strolled along Lake Lucerne, experienced panoramic views from cable cars and ridges, tasted local cuisine, and let yourselves be carried away by the mountain air. All at your own pace, with freedom and the certainty that every step was worth it. Although you are saying goodbye today, the memories you have taken away will stay with you for a long time.
